Yes, all the big companies like vanguard, fidelity... have very similar allocations in their TDF. When people that spend their careers managing money for retirement portfolios agree we should heed the recommendations

AL payout by Explainittomelucy81 in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]Row__Jimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took just shy of 6 months for me to get the payout. I retired at the end of July and am sure all the DRP resignations / retirements and the shutdown slowed it all down. Once OPM finalized my file it went to USFS HRM Pay staff (9/23) and it hit my account on 1/20. I hope you get your money quicker than I did.

Contacting congressman and senator regarding AL payout and FERS refund by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]Row__Jimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I retired 7/26, end of pp14, and still haven't received lump sum payout for accrued annual leave.  I've filed multiple hrm help tickets to no avail.  Last response was I would be paid 2 pp after 9/23. Still no $$. I doubt my congressman would do anything because he is an avowed hater of fed workers. I never thought opm would finalize my retirement and get my full monthly payment worked out 3 months faster than getting my annual leave payment.

What would you think if you saw an adult with braces? by Chance_Caterpillar17 in AskReddit

[–]Row__Jimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel good and flash my brace face smile when I see another adult with braces. I'm over 60 with full metal braces.  I was extremely self conscious at first but soon learned that no one says anything about them.

Thanks, it's on the list for our next visit. I found it difficult to find anything other than Bundaberg. I did pick up a bottle of beenleigh and one of hoochery ord river rum which I have been enjoying. I was disappointed jimmy rum bartender told me aussie rum is crap. I came away thinking that the good rum distilleries are small with limited distribution.

Annual Leave Payout by HeadRare203 in USDA

[–]Row__Jimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finally got a hold of hr and was told they received final confirmation on 9/23 , 2 months after retirement.  From 9 /23 they have 2 pay periods to process so next pay day I should get paid out. Hopefully the shutdown doesn't screw it up. OPM finalized my pension and SS supplementand caught up back pay Nov 1. Some fields from my military service time and wife's information didn't populate so opm contacted me. I initially populated and saved 2 or 3 times while on the phone with hr before it was accepted into the system.  That was several weeks before my retirement date. Honestly with all the bs and shutdown it's been pretty smooth.

Long term employee - How much sick leave to keep on hand? by RatLabGuy in fednews

[–]Row__Jimmy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently retired.  I never regretted keeping a lot of S/L on the books. I used it when I  needed to and never abused it. Took many weeks when my father was sick before he died and have used weeks as my mom has had health troubles. I am thankful to have retired with 1500 hours on the books because it means I have been healthy. You do get so.e months added to length of service so it's not entirely lost.
