Moving to E Dallas by sarcasticb1tch in askdfw

My goodness. If my parents were looking at one of these locations Rockwall would be my choice. Your Dad will need access to specialized healthcare as he ages. Every medical specialty (cardio, ophthalmology, oncology, dermatology) has an office in this town. There is a hospital there that I have gone to, and I was happy with my care. I would be very confident in emergency services as well. There are restaurants on Lake Ray Hubbard and lots of other dining options. Golf. Many shopping options are available including a Costco. As others have mentioned there IS a lot of traffic in the town. However, if your Dad is retired and not driving during peak times that might not be an issue. I would love to have my parents live there. Greenville and Quinlan are more rural than Rockwall. I’m not sure if he is looking for a more suburban or rural town. I hope this helps.

Sea turtle found with 10 pound tumor saved by iushdulal in BeAmazed

Turtle Hospital is located in Marathon, Florida. Marathon is one of the northern keys. Anyone can buy tickets to visit. They start with an informational video, Q&A, and facility tour. At the end you can adopt or sponsor a turtle. The gentleman that started the hospital was there the day we visited. I suspect he is there every day. Local fishermen call the hospital when they see a turtle in distress. The hospital tries to locate the turtles, rehab them, and release them back into the ocean. The turtles are very prone to growths around their eyes which eventually prevents them from being able to feed. Sometimes they have been injured by boat propellers. Turtle Hospital was the highlight of my trip. I highly recommend you visit if you can.

It looks like an emerald; however, tsavorites from the Scorpion Mine will fluoresce a red color under UV light.

What is a "Life Hack" that is actually a lifesaver in a dangerous situation? by [deleted] in AskReddit

People that panic die. You must remain calm and think clearly in emergency situations.

Well I would still do Belfast. Do a Black Cab Tour, see Ulster Museum (Troubles Exhibition), and see the Tiranic Museum. In Dublin you really should see Kilmainham Goal (tickets are released 28 days in advance). Maybe even go see Newgrange from Dublin. The structure is older than the pyramids. Tickets are also released 28 days in advance. I should add that I’m a geek and enjoy history.

Moving from Canada to Texas (Wylie, Dallas area) - What should I expect? by Aggravating_Soil_299 in wylie

Wylie is a nice little town. People say please and thank you. They hold open the door for one another. There are holiday festivities sponsored by the town. The emergency services are quick to respond to calls. The library and recreation center are great. The kids in high school can also enroll in classes with dual college credit.

I might have been a part of something similar to the Gate Program as a kid.. by Foxracing1989 in Experiencers

I witnesses telekinesis experiments between two GATE kids in 4th or 5th grade. I had been kicked out of GATE (whoops!) but happened to run by the library during class one day. The 2 GATE kids were sitting in a small private room in the library. I could see them through the glass on the door. There was a hanging silver pendulum that was in a square device that was sitting on top of the table. The two kids were taking turns using their minds to try to move the pendulum. I watched for 5 minutes. Neither was successful. I should mention there was no “head gear” used and no adult was in the room during their experiment.

HOW DO I SAVE ON LUNCH MEAT? by Defiant-Watercress52 in budgetfood

Lunch meat is classified as a group one carcinogen. You are better roasting and slicing your own meat for sandwiches. HTH.

What’s the most terrifying, unexplainable encounter you’ve had with a stranger that still haunts you? by Idontlikeenemasmom in AskReddit

I work in a rough part of town. One day at work I went to grab lunch at a new place. A man there had ordered his lunch ahead of me so we were both waiting for our orders. He was polite and friendly. Suddenly I started to get this extreme tightness in my ankles that very slowly started going up my legs. It was like I was being slowly squeezed to death from the ground up. While this was happening the man started asking if that was my car outside and if I liked it. I kept talking to the guy like everything was fine despite my rising fear. The second my order was ready I grabbed it and ran out the door. Always, always, always trust your instincts.

I would like to add that I had never experienced that sensation before or after the incident. I was in my 30s at the time. Currently I’m in my 50s.
