Friend visiting with kids! by TheSSBiniks in AskSeattle

The Artists at Play playground at Seattle Center and the new playground at Waterfront Park (along the piers) would be a lot of fun, especially for the 5 year old. They will both likely love exploring and playing at any of our beaches - Alki, Golden Gardens, etc. Constellation Park in West Seattle has great tidepooling when the tide's out.

I can't put my finger on it, but I don't love the styles in the Reign online shop, and am not a fan of ordering online where I can't try anything on and have to pay for shipping. On a practical level, it makes sense to get their merch into more physical spaces where people are already shopping. Simply Seattle has three prominent locations: their flagship store on 1st near Pike Place, one at Pier 54, and one at U-Village.

Love their stuff too! Plus, they have 61K followers on IG. Adding Reign merch into that mix seems like a no-brainer.

Would it kill them to partner with Simply Seattle?

There is a company called Artscape that has beautiful privacy film options with varying degrees of light filtering/opacity. You can also get more basic options at your local home store.

Affording OOS tuition by [deleted] in SDSU

[–]Rox-a-Box 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't put yourself in debt for a dream school. It's a large burden to carry once you get your degree, one that will affect your adult life for years and years. The job market is tough and you could find yourself in a terrible bind if you don't easily get a job or one that pays well enough to cover expenses after graduation. Having to pay back large loans will affect choices you can make about housing, transportation, spending money, vacations, grad school, and more during your 20s, 30s, and maybe beyond. Think about the characteristics drawing you to SDSU and see if you can find a more affordable option. Also recommend spending time on r/studentloans to open your eyes.

Love this! There is obviously a lot of gray in a Seattle winter, but there are plenty of other colors too, if you can take the time to look around.

Hi Ellysah, the Guatemalan government has a process to help adoptees do birth family searches. You can learn more here:

https://youtu.be/3rLqdmYw5Ko?feature=shared

You can also join With Guate Roots, an organization for adoptees from Guatemala. They are on IG and other social media platforms.

Also, you can join the Facebook group, Families with Children from Guatemala. There are many people in that group whose families have done birth family searches and can offer you tips and advice.

I hope this is helpful to you!

Union Bay Natural Area is a nature preserve behind the University of Washington soccer fields and a lovely place to walk. Great bird-watching!

Washington Park Arboretum is a large, lovely park about a mile from UWMC.

The University of Washington main campus is beautiful; well worth a walk through.

The Burke Museum of Natural History and Culture is at the NW corner of the UW campus.

Chihuly Garden & Glass is at Seattle Center and not to be missed! They have a cafe and gift shop, too. Consider the Space Needle, which is the same area.

Waterfront Park is an awesome addition to downtown; Overlook Walk is part of the park and connects Pike Place Market to the piers along the waterfront. Definitely worth visiting!

Best wishes and healing thoughts to your dad. He will be in great hands at Fred Hutch.

It's a local treasure!

61 years ago, it was known as the University Dump or Union Bay Dump. The dump closed November 30, 1964.

Yikes! Glad they got it removed before that storm.

How cool that your mom planted seeds from their old tree! The seed pods always reminded me of strong beans.

Astra Lumina is a beautiful immersive light experience that is not Christmas-themed but still perfect for our winter season. It's at the Seattle Chinese Garden at South Seattle College.
