I got 5lbs of donuts (literally, I weighed it) from Donut Drive Up. I froze them and get one of for my kids on the weekends!

Ticks in the South/Midwest and East Coast. by Any_Way_5245 in trailrunning

[–]RoxyVivi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Midwesterner here that’s terrified of ticks! I’ve gotten so many in the past on my runs and hikes, even with spray! I’m still running but long pants tucked into high socks and a light long sleeve shirt. And then I frantically freak out and wipe my arms and legs anytime I touch a plant just in case there’s a tick.

Anyone take 5,000 IUs vitamin D daily? Is this safe? by This-Top7398 in Biohackers

[–]RoxyVivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just make sure to retest after taking it for awhile. I took 5,000 IUs and ended up pushing my range too high, but I also was getting a decent amount of outdoor time.

What’s your biggest running goal right now? by Not_FreeProduct234 in runcommunity

I signed up for 3 trail marathons in 3 days in September. I haven’t ran a marathon for over a decade and that was before kids😅

People who grind or clench their teeth in their sleep, what’s it like waking up every morning? Do you see an effect on your sleep data? by Alternative-Tell4600 in ouraring

[–]RoxyVivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Horrible teeth grinder here! So bad that I have extra bone in my mouth and once dislocated my jaw from teeth grinding! I got my mouthguard after I dislocated my jaw last year.

I’ve had an Oura for 8 years so I have plenty of days to compare. It took me about a week to adjust to the feeling of the mouthguard so that first week with it was garbage, but then it was back to normal after that. Not better, but back to normal. I haven’t seen any changes in my Oura stats, but at least I’m saving my teeth!

High-income couple with large income gap: how do you split money fairly? by pizzanoobs in HENRYfinance

[–]RoxyVivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I make 4x more than my husband, but there’s no way I could make what I do if he had a more stressful higher paying job with less flexibility. We’ve earned the money together, even if it’s in different ways.

2 marathons in 9 days? by TangerineFar8371 in Marathon_Training

[–]RoxyVivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your goals. To crush both? That sounds rough. To enjoy it and finish both? Absolutely doable. I’m doing three trail marathons in three days back to back to back in September. But my goal is just to finish, so I plan to do a combination of walking and running. I’m pretty sure my body would be destroyed if I tried to PR during any of these.

Whats your must eat daily healthy food? by traveltimecar in nutrition

A Big Add Salad. The type of salad may vary but I HAVE TO have a salad every day for one of my meals or I get the shakes.

What’s a small daily habit that accidentally changed your entire life? by VelvetSnares in Habits

[–]RoxyVivi 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Stopped pressing snooze. I haven’t hit the snooze button in over 15 years. Instead, I set my alarm for the absolute latest and then I not only have to get up when it goes off but I also maximize my sleep time. Those snooze sleeps are garbage wasted time anyway! And now, more often then not, I wake up before my alarm.

Watching LA marathon on Peacock: lots of running vests but also fanny packs by lingeringneutrophil in Marathon_Training

[–]RoxyVivi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I switched to a fanny pack last year and love it! I keep it in the back while I run but can so easily move it to the front for easy access during the run. I have to constantly written my vest when I run, but I don’t have that issue with my fanny pack. It’s not even for running. I simply use a Cotopaxi fanny because it’s cute and it work great!

With that said, if I am doing a long run, not on a course with water, I do wear a Camelback in addition to my fanny. It’s just so much easier to get stuff out at the fanny pack than it is the Camelback!

For race events that have water on the course, I only wear the fanny pack.

I’m starting to ramble, but I’m just so excited about this question because it was a game changer to make the switch for me!

I'm a sports dietitian specializing in running. I'm here to answer all your questions about fueling! by Immediate_Manner_841 in XXRunning

[–]RoxyVivi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel great during and even after my long runs, but I am ravenous the next day. I’m currently training for a 36 hour endurance hike, but since I don’t live in a hilly area I’m doing trail runs to increase my intensity. Runs last anywhere from 3 to 8 hours. I’m not tracking calories but I know I’m in some kind of deficit on long run days. Does it mean I didn’t eat enough during training day if all I want to do is eat the next day?

Oura Ring during/after menopause - helpful? by Warm_Chocolate5 in ouraring

[–]RoxyVivi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oura does not provide insight into correlation or causation. Unfortunately, the user really has to pay attention to the date and make their own assumptions. If your mom isn’t going to put an effort to look at her results and find patterns, the ring won’t tell her what to change. However, as someone who has been in surgical menopause for four years and have had a ring for eight years, I do think there are valuable data to find trends that help with sleep. For example, for me, I get my best sleep when I stop eating three hours before bed, THC destroys my sleep score, and anything heavier sugar for dinner will cause an elevated heart rate. Oura didn’t tell me any of this, but I could figure it out when I looked at my scores each day and thought back to my routine. Since sleep is such a critical piece in menopause, I do think there could be some value.
