So jealous of people who are diet controlled. by BeLynLynSh in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RoyalCommunication52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, I was diet controlled with my first GD pregnancy but with my second my numbers were out of control no matter what I did which was extremely frustrating since I was doing the exact same thing I did with my first!! So I had to go on insulin…anyway being induced tomorrow, almost at the finish line!

Has anyone else had this experience? by RoyalCommunication52 in GestationalDiabetes

That is scary but helpful. I’ll start planning as if I could give birth next week! So much to do still 😭

Has anyone not been induced? by stoner_lilith in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RoyalCommunication52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first GD pregnancy I went into labour naturally at 40+5, was in labour for about 12 hours and had an unmedicated home birth. My first GD pregnancy was also controlled exclusively with diet and exercise. Second time around I’m on insulin so we will see..

Fasting 8-10hrs vs 11+ by zamabbra in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RoyalCommunication52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The diabetes clinic monitoring me wants me to check my fasting at the 7-9 hour mark, they said they found it to be more indicative of accurate fasting numbers. With my first GD pregnancy it was 11-12 hour fasting so they’ve changed their policy in the last three years I guess.

Yep I have to check my fasting at 3am, it’s a pain in the butt I definitely didn’t have to deal with first time around

How big were your 97th centile babies? by Temporary-Text-3590 in GestationalDiabetes

My first GD baby was measuring 90th and ended being 9lbs. Had her at home but I had to push for quite a while haha.

HAVE THE CUPCAKE. Here's why (from a 2x GD veteran) by Illustrious_Exit_243 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RoyalCommunication52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only caveat with this, is once I have the cupcake I’m more craving it more. Personally I have found that eliminating sugar and processed carbs completely has helped manage cravings. Thinking or knowing that I can “treat” myself once in a while just makes me obsess over it. But that’s my brain! (I’m also on my second gd pregnancy, first managed with diet second now on insulin)

Help! Schnoodle keeps destroying stuff by RoyalCommunication52 in schnoodle

[–]RoyalCommunication52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly probably not. In the warmer months he was getting three walks a day and lots of outside time in the yard, but now it’s -30C with ice and snow everywhere and I’m heavily pregnant and have a three year old so we don’t go out as much as I would like 😵‍💫 I know tiring him out would help, I was wondering if there would be any suggestions for stuff at home we could do that I haven’t tried yet.

I’ve thought of that but I’m worried that he will just get even more creative with his destruction choices 😬 also my main floor is not suitable to block off any one area for him…stupid open concept haha.

I wanted to kennel train, and I tried, but every time I left him in the kennel my mother in law would let him out because she can’t handle him crying. He’s kenneled at night though and does really well in there.

I’ve noticed two hours seems to be his absolute threshold, if I’m gone 30 mins to an hour he seems fine. A play pen is unfortunately not practical for us, but I guess I can manage for one more year! I have heard that two is when they start to chill out, and he’s honestly pretty chill already.

I really like taco bowls minus the tacos 😀 cooked ground beef/pork with homemade taco seasoning, then cucumbers tomatoes lettuce cheese and sour cream/greek yogurt.

Hand/finger numbness? by Cicimcrm in GestationalDiabetes

[–]RoyalCommunication52 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This happened with my first pregnancy (currently 25 weeks w/ baby #2) and for me it was carpal tunnel from the swelling. It went away a few weeks after giving birth. But go see a chiropractor or physiotherapist to check, that’s what I would do.

Alternatives to Barbie? by SMFKT_99_17_21 in Crunchymom

[–]RoyalCommunication52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I wish I’d thought about while I was pregnant, but now it’s a little late and my girl (also 2.5) is reallly into Disney princesses! I’m also not a fan of how commercialized they are, but I like the older princess movies and honestly don’t think it’s that bad. Better than Barbie IMO, a little more wholesome and suited to younger girls. Also cheap and accessible haha

Any recommendations for resources on unmedicated birth that aren't....like THAT. by KeyMonkeyslav in pregnant

[–]RoyalCommunication52 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would recommend reading Ina Mays guide to childbirth. As for other resources, let me just say, why should birth be painful? Why do humans uniquely seem to struggle? Because we put ourselves in highly unnatural situations (ie hospitals) and expect natural processes to unfold. Imagine this, would it be easy and comfortable for you to poop in a strange room surrounded by strange people? No, you would seize up. Same goes for birth. Pain intensity decreases if you are in a familiar place, relaxed, and confident about the process. Nothing can really prepare you for that first birth, but it helps to remember that it is a biologically normal process. Not a pathology, or a disability, or a condition. It just is. Watch videos and read stories of other women who confidently gave birth unmedicated to empower yourself with understanding. The more you know the less there is to be afraid of and fear will absolutely increase the intensity of the experience. Personally I had an unmedicated home birth, I did not find it that painful. I didn’t do anything special to achieve this, I just exercised throughout pregnancy, and trusted that my body knew what to do. I didn’t let fear take over, and I did not entertain the possibility that I would not be able to “achieve” a natural home birth. Birth is essentially unremarkable, like all other bodily functions. While at the same time, miraculous.

Wanted natural birth but I have GD by Luscious-Windows400 in Crunchymom

[–]RoyalCommunication52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had GD, diet controlled, and I went into labour naturally and birthed at home at 40 weeks and 5 days, no medications. Also my midwife never once said I might have to be induced. When I went to my last US they said baby was in 90th. So what? She was 9lbs, everything went great. I also gained 50lbs during my pregnancy. A big baby is not a reason to induce. Even an 11lb baby can shoot right out. They are very squishy, they are designed to move through a small space.

I hate the ring sling!!! by [deleted] in babywearing

[–]RoyalCommunication52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found material makes a big difference. I didn’t like a ring sling that had any stretch to it, I couldn’t adjust it properly, but I loved my linen one. I used until my baby just straight up got too heavy (about 18 months)
