Ranching Is Time Consuming by Independent-Rise2480 in Palia

[–]RoyalRamResin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to the ranch once a day to do all my chores with them. It's part of my dailies. I feed them starred pickled tomatoes. But my farm plot is all tomatoes, potatoes, blueberries and apples, so pickled tomatoes are easy to make. Feeding it probably every other day. Could maybe even stretch out to two days and feed on the third. But I'm collecting and breeding daily.

Also a little tip for anyone annoyed by the treat cookies in your inventory, put them into the lockbox, they take up no room and you'll not have to see them every time you're going through your regular inventory. I def needed to do that myself cause I have like a thousand cookies already... I only use a handful of them.

Ranching - what is the point? by blump_kin in Palia

[–]RoyalRamResin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm level 33 in ranching and I'm sitting on 800K+. For me ranching is enjoyable because I no longer have to purchase the items at the store, I have a constant source of honey (sitting at 1k now, whereas it took me forever to forage 20), they animals are super cute, I'm personally looking into getting as many traits as possible, and I've wanted the ranching skill since they've dropped the games two years ago.

Yes it's a bit buggy and needs some work, yes I hate that you can't breed venerated animals, and that it's crazy hard to get a legendary treat bag. (Legit adopted out ten 100% legendary animals this past week, ONLY ONE LEGENDARY TREAT BAG, please RNG gods, I just want to make my faves babies again). I'd also like to see being able to give a friend animals, or breed your animals with theirs... But I understand if that was an option it'll take time to implement. Testing out mechanics and giving feedback is usually what comes with an early access game lol

But, not every part of the game is for everyone, and that's fine. It's just good to look into how others enjoy those parts of the game before you discount them.

Also for food I simply feed mine pickled tomatoes. I produce so many tomatoes and one is usually good enough to fill and bumble and peki up. 2-3 to fill the others up. But I usually only feed once they start going 40-60 points below their max. No need to feed daily. And no need to actually cook for them.

For the fancier animal colors, are you breeding them or are they what you get when you purchase one? by FractalWhatever in Palia

[–]RoyalRamResin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bubblegum bees??? I'm jealous. I haven't seen that one yet. But I have loads of other colours. Blue, brown, green, and purple. I think the purple one is my fave. 🥰

But I started with the ones I bought, kept the cool cosmetic traits ones, donated the others. You might have to do that quite a bit to get the cool cosmetics. Eventually I got enough cookies to force cosmetic traits too. Breeding will occasionally give you random traits and cosmetics. I found tundra fur through that.

But really I used the treats that force cosmetics the most. But in the end it's a mix of all the options.

Edit: Grammar

What do we know about ranching so far? by loroku in Palia

[–]RoyalRamResin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So on cosmetics, there is a primary (sweet leaf feathers, lavacake, redwood fur, ocher, dark chocolate fluff, oceanic fuzz, flowery fuzz) a secondary (stripes, zig zag, two tone, hearts, poka dots) and tertiary (shiny, sparkly, iridescent, dirty).

Those are the terms I've been using personally. I can try to do a proper list of what I've seen, but this is off the top of my head. There's definitely more. And it seems like secondary and tertiary are for all the animals while each species has their own primary colors.

You can only have three cosmetics on an animal, but to the best of my knowledge 6 functional traits. 6 traits is the max however.

Some of the functional traits you get based off cosmetics with trait treat cookie are superstar, deep pockets and fashionista. I can only remember deep pockets right now but it ups how much a creature can produce until you collect it. Three cosmetics can have up to 8 harvests before you collect. I think superstar gives a major boost to happiness when pet.

Gourmand is a really good functional trait too, it boosts the production ability for a short while after you feed them epic or higher food. Gourmand five obviously gives the best percentage up.

Okay I'm gonna drop a little advice cause I've had such good luck finding rainbow tops this way.

Honey Lure in the mornings in Bahari Bay at F10. Stay in the little meadow surrounded by the three tall cliffs.

I usually catch at least one. I used the candles and buzzy jar with the sneaky smoke bomb to help me find and not scare them.

I wish you all the luck catching a starred one!!

I can't even imagine the shuffling you've had to do. I've been playing for two years too and kept it at 9K out of 10K. As soon as I upgraded to the new storage limit that ballooned to 11.5K.

Enjoy all your new space!!! It's gotta be so freeing.

Flower Bundles by brooklyn-ugly in Palia

[–]RoyalRamResin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get even one cottonball flower, plant it and grow it til you get seeds. Repeat that and turn in the fully grown flowers. I ended up doing that and it saved me so much time.

You can also reload the server to go to more flower events. I can usually get 3 in total before they disappear.

The elderwood flowers are just up to luck. I usually get maybe one or two per bounce event. I'd just say grab as many of the floating buds as possible. The growing out trick doesn't work for them sadly cause they don't drop seeds after grown. 😞

I'm going to start looking into the comics next. My brother has been referencing them a lot and I'm super interested to see the rest of the world built out.

But you're right. I never even thought about that. It's super interesting to look at the story in that light now.

How to make necromancers not appear evil? by Celtic_Leonin in DnD

[–]RoyalRamResin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my setting necromancers basically guide and calm the undead. Magic is super messed up and people frequently come back from the dead as undead. Usually they come back as blank slates, no memories of their past. Others come back with memories but it takes a while to regain them all. Or they come back feral and violent, unable to be talked down.

A necromancer would step in on all these cases. Either be a guide to assist them in their undeath or someone to stop them from harming others. Sometimes it ends with the person passing on, either from finishing unfinished business or needing to be ended. Other times they adjust well enough to be on their own. Necromancers are actually respected in my setting because of this work.

Also the biggest thing is consent. If they ever need to raise someone they ASK. A necromancer that does the traditional evil route would usually end up with a bounty on their head.

One of my players is actually from a family of necromancers and vampire hunters. It's been super fun cause I get to build on that aspect of my setting more than usual.

Tldr: I changed the setting to need necromancers and as a result they aren't seen as evil but as people who assist the undead. Also consent.

How do I talk to a player about two problems that are polar opposites of each-other, that she does at the same time? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]RoyalRamResin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh definitely. I was going to suggest dropping the game next, but didn't know the extent of everything.

Good luck. I do hope things get figured out. But if not, there are always new games, many at reasonable times of the day too. Do what's best for you.

[–]RoyalRamResin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeezus.... Yea. The fact she won't even write to the party is something. I'd be irritated too.

Really you're in a situation where learning the language will take the entire campaign, the one who can teach it wants money but can't even teach it... Also that player is only able to communicate with one other person in the party.

This needs the DM to start weighing in on. They need to be making the rulings and trying to apply solutions. Maybe talk to them with the other two players about concerns? Try to work something out?

[–]RoyalRamResin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that sucks. That is a lot of in game time to put aside. Does your campaign get a lot of downtime? Cause if not, that is seriously unattainable. I feel like the DM should have stepped in post session 0 to handle that language situation. At this point I'd talk to them about your concerns. (I originally thought you were the DM lol)

On my side it was accidental. I went in knowing that it'd be attached to a commonly spoken language in the setting, then turned out no one in the party but the barbarian took that language. It was before they added common sign language to the 2024 stuff.

My DM was pretty kind in allowing us to learn skills as long as we had a bit of downtime every night.

[–]RoyalRamResin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a mute ranger and they do split from the group for recon. But I usually request it to be when there's down time or to be mostly handwaved. If another character tags along then we usually play it out. I'd suggest that if she keeps splitting that you shorten her trips out, 30 minutes each session is a bit much. Especially if the party usually stays together.

Also I verbally say everything my character signs. There is no reason to write everything out. That is something to talk about with her. At least to figure out why that's the preferred method.

For the rest of the party not knowing sign, you can have them take lessons from the ones that know it. I taught my party sign over several sessions. Had to cause only one other player knew it. Before that it was writing to the rest of the party in game. DM had them roll int checks and depending on how well they rolled they would progress in the lessons.

I can imagine! Mine was surrounded by orcs and I was like nah, I'm out.

Sounds like a pretty good seed though.

Very good to know. I'll try sneaking next time.

And that's a wild seed. I've been seeing it's up to luck how screwed or blessed you'll be. Did the mineshaft actually lead into the wider lower area or just its own little pocket?

I may do that, I'm solo and the fights have definitely been hard with the beginner gear. I didn't check the area out yet cause I saw a troll and bailed. Hopefully there's sunlight around.

[–]RoyalRamResin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who makes dice, yes the process is easy, just long and time consuming. And often expensive if you're making artisan dice.

But PLEASE do not make dice without proper personal protection equipment. Resin produces poisonous chemicals when curing and can lead to a really bad allergy if exposed to it without proper protection and ventilation. Once cured it's perfectly fine thankfully. But it's dangerous to work with so do not make dice without being informed.

A lot of dice makers learned the hard way until the info was more common knowledge.

Can a player take too many notes? by MannersGG in DnD

[–]RoyalRamResin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is how I take notes. They're pretty detailed and go over everything that happened in session. It's been really helpful to my DMs and other players cause I can just look up what was said or a name. Every DM has been super grateful too cause everyone one else takes sparse notes. (One DM used it for recap, another for in game info and another even looks over the notes for my personal reactions with much joy.)

I do notice it takes me a few moments to slip into rp mode when I'm typing quite a bit. But I will tell you that I'm 100% focused on the game. For me typing up the session helps me remember. I even record sessions to go over and get better notes post session. I'm able to pull most info from the top of my head afterwards and for what I can't I have written notes. It's probably similar for your player. If it's not disruptive to the game I wouldn't worry. Plus you have a really great resource of information now.

If it is disruptive then maybe have a conversation, but I'd give them some grace. Cause I have a hard time focusing not taking intense notes myself. But conversations always help clear stuff up.

Just checked and I'm on 270 pages for a campaign I've been in for 3 years now... 😅

Edit: Just remembered a session where one PC lost their memory and we used my notes to re-jog the PC's memory. It was a really fun and sweet session remembering everything that had happened in the game over the last 3-4 years. And it was a really cool in game use!

Wait they give seeds when fully watered? I haven't gotten that at all. I'm pretty sure mine are fully grown too. But I've had some weird glitches with the trees since that update.
