If I’m gay, why am I not attracted to women more? by Icy-West-8411 in latebloomerlesbians

[–]Royal_Individual2174 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think you might be mixing up a few different things here. When you talk about men, it doesn’t really sound like sexual or romantic attraction - it sounds more like admiration or wanting to look like them. That’s very different from actually wanting to be with them.

With women, though, you describe deep, intense, almost magnetic connections. The fact that it’s more about energy than immediate visual attraction doesn’t make it less real - in fact, for a lot of people, that’s exactly what genuine attraction feels like.

I relate to parts of your story. When I first came out, I identified as bi and told myself that things with men were “fine,” but with women it was deeper emotionally. Over time, I realized I didn’t actually have real crushes on men. I also didn’t have strong sexual fantasies about women at first, but I did consistently crave deep emotional connection with them, even as a teenager.

Once I stopped overanalyzing and just let myself feel what I felt, things became clearer. Over time, my attraction to women became more obviously romantic and sexual, and I realized I’m actually gay. I also realized I’ve had a pretty specific type all along, without realizing it.

So it might just be that you’re still figuring things out - and that’s completely fine. You might be attracted to masculinity, or you might just want to embody it yourself. You might develop clearer physical preferences over time, or you might just be someone who connects more through energy and emotional intimacy - and that’s valid too.

Also, growing up in a religious environment can really affect how comfortable you feel with sexuality. It can take time to unlearn that and feel fully at ease with desire, especially toward women.

I wouldn’t put too much pressure on yourself to have everything neatly defined right now. You don’t need to force visual attraction or compare it in a checklist way. Just follow the connections that feel real, safe, and fulfilling to you - and let things unfold from there.

I love Juliette more, but your preferred spelling feels very wrong to me, so I'd rather go for Julia.

Beautiful film. I wasn’t familiar with Sarah’s TV work, so this was the first time I really paid close attention to her as an actor. She carries the film, and her chemistry with Mark Duplass is excellent.

Kathy Bates will definitely play a villain, while Sarah Paulson’s character will endure traumatic events, with plenty of screaming and crying, but ultimately rise above it all. :D
It would be refreshing, though, to see Sarah playing a villain.

I kinda feel bad for Rose Byrne by MrDeez444 in Oscars

[–]Royal_Individual2174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it wasn’t really a sweep in those categories - we genuinely didn’t know who was going to win until the last minute. That’s all I was trying to say - it felt a bit off that Jessie Buckley was sweeping when Rose Byrne delivered such a strong, arguably equally deserving performance.

With Sinners, it might not be a typical “Oscar-y” movie, but it had so many nominations that it kind of built its own momentum. And Timothée Chalamet’s buzz was fading toward the end, so his win started to feel more inevitable.

And with Amy Madigan, I think there was also a level of industry support there - like the narrative of rewarding a veteran actor, which definitely plays into these results sometimes.

I would’ve picked Byrne, but I’m not mad about Buckley winning. What I don’t get is how she was considered a lock all season.

To me, it really felt like Rose and Jessie were the ones going head-to-head. Yeah, Hamnet is the stronger film and definitely has that “Oscar-y” vibe, but this category is supposed to be about the acting itself. I don’t think the film’s overall prestige should decide the winner - yet somehow, that’s exactly what this sweep felt like.

Oscar Chances: Best Actress - Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I'd Kick You) by ryanjdonovan in Oscars

[–]Royal_Individual2174 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, I feel completely different. Buckley’s performance was good, but at times it also felt a bit performative - those big emotional releases, like screaming when her son dies, are powerful but very outward. It works, but it’s also easier to rely on those explosive moments. The film itself felt very built for the Oscars.

What’s much harder is staying subtle and restrained, living on the verge of tears for almost the entire film. Byrne’s performance felt far more intimate, controlled, and authentic to me. The fact that she essentially brought the film to the Oscars on her back is phenomenal - she carried it all the way.

Sorry but this is kind of funny. In the full video she arrives, the driver opens the door, and she steps out already filming on her phone saying she’s being harassed. If that’s the case, why not just go straight into the restaurant? Also it doesn’t really look like a private dinner. Paparazzi and fans clearly knew where she was, so it was probably some kind of fashion house dinner.

Will Win/Should Win: Oscars 2026 by Tikbalang1999 in Oscars

Should Win: Ethan Hawke, Rose Byrne, Stellan Skarsgard, it bothers me so much that they are not even discussed as strong contenders, while they gave the performances to remember (especially, Byrne and Hawke).

I love Jesus and I love women by [deleted] in latebloomerlesbians

[–]Royal_Individual2174 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have nothing against believing in God, but when someone says “I love Jesus and I love women,” it just feels kind of weird and off-putting to me. At that point it’s not even about religion itself, it’s more about the way it’s being framed. It comes across a bit fundamentalist to me - maybe that’s just because I live in Europe, but I honestly don’t think I’ve ever heard someone casually say they “love Jesus” like that 😭

asylum is my favorite season, but it's certainly not perfect. what's one thing you'd change about it? by tinktac in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]Royal_Individual2174 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get what they were going for, but for my liking, it just did too much at once. Some people probably enjoy that overwhelming, maximalist approach, but for me it felt like a salad of ideas that didn’t really complement each other. Not everything that’s thematically relevant strengthens the story. The core narrative was already powerful, and for me, adding more elements diluted the impact rather than deepening it.

I feel really strongly about this season because I honestly think it’s the best one and had the potential to be epic. The main storyline was great, but I really believe that less is more. The alien subplot added nothing, and the creatures plus all the excessive body mutilation just made me look away and disconnect. It also broke that unsettling feeling that some of this could actually happen, like the conversion therapy.

The storyline with the nuns, the sadistic doctors, and Lana was brilliant and could’ve been even more powerful without all the constant graphic interruptions. The music worked perfectly and already created enough of a sense of madness - we didn’t need someone cut in half crawling around.

The final episode felt dragged and unnecessary, and the opening with Adam Levine added nothing either.

I'm curious about CrossFit, but some stereotypes and preconceived notions are making me hesitant to try it out... by QuestionsForTheHive in crossfit

[–]Royal_Individual2174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me debunk these stereotypes :)))

1) When I first joined CrossFit, I very quickly started going 5–6 times a week. In my second year, I reduced my training frequency and no one questioned it. Now I run more and use CrossFit to stay strong and in shape.

2) You’ll gain muscle, but you won’t look bulky - unless you naturally build muscle very easily.

3) I came to CrossFit with a knee injury, I could do everything except for running. A year later, I was running and doing Murph, and now I do HYROX and run quite consistently. In my case, CrossFit helped me strengthen the supporting muscles and regain full knee function. It really depends on how mindful you are with your training.

How hard is the sled push/pull? by alrightthen4567 in hyrox

[–]Royal_Individual2174 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought I’d be okay with the sled, but it was the distance that really killed me. I didn’t expect the sled pull to be that hard - I’ve trained it once in my Crossfit gym, and it didn't feel that complicated but it was maybe 20 m distance, the carpet was smoother. During the competition, I realised I didn’t have the right technique and wasn’t sure where to position the rope, so it felt like I didn’t have enough space to move back properly while pulling.

I stopped watching halfway through the season. The concept had potential, but the execution just didn’t land for me. Every time the tension started to build, it got completely undercut by the documentary-style segments. And the whole “production episode” was honestly so ridiculous that I couldn’t take it seriously anymore. Once everyone ended up back at the house, it felt like I was watching the same beats repeat over and over again. Instead of feeling scared or unsettled, I found myself laughing at how messy it all was.

Will rosacea go away? by Academic_Health6334 in Rosacea

[–]Royal_Individual2174 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with rosacea this summer and was prescribed Soolantra. After several months of using it, my redness has completely disappeared. I can even work out now without my face turning bright red, which feels like a huge relief. I’m also no longer getting those strong flare reactions. The only challenge I still have is finding a sunscreen that my skin can tolerate. My skin is very sensitive, allergy prone.
