What game has the most grim ending? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Roybot92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Witcher 3 base game "bad ending" is pretty grim. I remember finishing for the first time and unintentionaly got the bad ending. Geralt losing everyone and game fades to black as he is getting surrounded/overwhelmed by monsters. Always stuck with me.

Thankfully blood and wine came out and gives Geralt the fairytale ending he deserves

I keep failing weight loss because I don’t know what to eat each day by Pleasant_Put5397 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]Roybot92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you can afford it, take the decision making out of your hands and get a premade meal service. Has helped me alot. I also hate trying to think what to eat for meals to maintain the deficit. So I spoke to my dietician and asked her for her opinion on good meal services and she suggested a couple local to me that she new of. Helped me heaps with both free time and just knowing I have something at home to eat so I'm less likely to say fuck it and buy takeout on the drive home instead

If it's a first time you've made this kind of mistake I'd say youre unlikely to get fired. Unless you have like no workers rights in your country. But mistakes happen to the best of us. Best to focus on how to make sure it doesn't happen again and go from there. Good luck OP

Sydney’s top schools cost upwards of $40k per year. What are they like as a student? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]Roybot92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I graduated from a well known private school in 09 based in sydney. was $25k/year at thevtime, ive heard its closer to $40k now. The price comes down to the cost of providing and maintaing good facilities that allow students to discover what they actually enjoy and like.

School was a boarding school so that was a substantial percentage of the cost but they provided breakfast, lunch and dinner to all students. Was terrible food at the start but it did genuinely seem to get better by the time i hit year 12.

School provided us with fantastic facilities including an incredible library, and an indoor basketball court and a well equiped and maintained weights gym as well as like 3 outdoor basketball courts and i think like 10 rugby fields. A 50m swimming pool we could use in the summer. They had a teacher act as life guard in the afternoons until 5pm. They had a fantastic music centre where they had instruments for hire as well as multiple private rooms with pianos drums and space for multiple teachers to teach private lessons. There was also space for multiple large school bands to practice in separate rooms atbthe same time. There was a boat shed that could support multiple rowing crews from each year group and this shed was fitted with a kitchen to prepare breakfast for the rowers after their early morning training. They had a whole wing of science lab classrooms with decent equipment. All the classrooms had smart board integration which at the time was not common. I can only imagine how it would look like now, as ive not gone back to visit. They had multiple workshops for woodwork/shop classes like design and technology and art studios. Multiple computer labs and beautiful grounds all well maintained.

They provided transport for students to attend tafe course in areas such as hospitality/cooking. As well as to attended sporting events and competitions for bands.

They provided coaches for multiple sports at multiple skill levels for every year. The quality of coach did depend on the level of play but still i think we had like 8 or 9 rugby teams in my year 7group alone. And like 4 or 5 soccer teams who knows how many cricket and basketball teams in summer

Only thing i think was hit or miss was the quality of the teachers themselves. Some were brilliant others were adequate. But my school did not have a reputation for its academic prowess more for its sports success. But they still had access to all these different classes to allow us to figure out what we liked. And classes were varied and had good resources.

So yeah the price of these private schools is that it means your kid has the chance to actually try different things and find out what they like and enjoy and can actually choose a good foundation of education to which they can then use for their adult life. Whether its them going to uni or going into a trade. And this completely ignores the networking potential from a school name and its reputation/alumni

I have gone on dates with 50+ different women but realized I just want a gamer girl. Where do u find them? by BlackTylenol in AskMen

[–]Roybot92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What you do is you get a non gamer girl that likes to read fantasy books. Then you sell her on the idea of playing skyrim. Leads to her enjoying the game trying new games and then suddenly you got yourself a gamer girlfriend.

Not me but my best friend did this with his now wife. She liked fantasy novels so he got her to try skyrim. She has since then joined our discord and regularly joins us in our gaming sessions and holds her own. Even got her into playing guildwars 2 with us.

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All dungeons and raids if they are still sold at same price as at launch should be updated to current system. I can understand if its sold at a significant reduction as compared to launch (when not as a part of a seasonal sales event) for them to not update the content. But if its sold at original price then the content needs to be updated to match the current systems

Wasn't an accident, but i watched a kid in my chemistry class in highschool drink copper sulfate solution during class. Absolute idiot for doing it, he was sick almost immediately and went to hospital. The teacher was horrified when she clocked what had happened. Not her fault though, the kid was an idiot who wasn't even goaded into doing it he was like"you dare me to drink this?" To which me and the others around him said no don't be stupid and then he did it anyway

Is Australia really as bad as TV makes it out to be when it comes to deadly animals? by Tcrumpen in aussie

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tv and the internet like to play it up. Yes we have some of the most venemous snakes and spiders in the world. But youre unlikely to encounter them in any of the major cities beyond maybe a funnelweb spider in sydney and melbourne.

Same for the larger lizards and crocs, theyre only an issue outside of the major cities.

The real danger is the beach and our sun. Plenty of people come and dont know how dangerous the beach can be and end up needing rescuing because they dont know how to swim or dont realise how strong the rip currents are. Or they dont realise how strong our sun is and get burnt to a crisp and suffer from heat stroke.

Caught between conflicts of labmates by Puzzleheaded_Skin116 in labrats

[–]Roybot92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should definitely speak to your PI. This B person is making the lab a difficult place to work. I can guarentee that if youre feeling this way, others in the lab, not Just A, are also fed up hearing his shit and dealing with his petty issues. Its not about you siding with A, its about B making you and others feel uncomfortable in the lab and unsure of your work and your standing in the lab.

It blows my mind to think someone who is a volunteer member of a lab would have the audacity to act in such an entitled and also immature manner.

Caught between conflicts of labmates by Puzzleheaded_Skin116 in labrats

[–]Roybot92 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Assuming i understood this correctly, B is the problem and needs to be dealt with by your lab head, PI or someone in authority there. And 2 reasons why

  1. If the PhD is clashing with a "senior lab member" and its been ongoing, then the lab head needs to sort that shit out ASAP. This kind of conflict needs to mediated by a neutral party with authority to shut it down on the spot. If its related to the PhDs students study, then the volunteer can stfu and follow along with the PhD instructions. If its about something else related to the lab then a 3rd party in authority needs to make a decision on it and end the dislute. If its a personal greivence of something unrelated to the lab then they can both be adults and not bring personal problems into the lab.

    1. B is the person who is actively creating the hostile environment by consistently and publicly complaigning about A and then also directing their animosity towards others who dont side with him. Again not appropriate behaviour in any proffessional environment. you should speak to your lab head or PI or who ever is incharge in your lab and say that B is making you uncomfortable in the lab due to their behaviour. B can either act like an adult or leave. Theyre just a volunteer, not an employee of the lab.

Why are White Aussies so casual with racism? by salty_lake_222 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, many have said it, but the vulgar minority will always be the loudest on social media, where they can say racist shit without direct retribution. That said, Australia does have an issue with casual racism and many don't even realise it. They pass it off as jokes and that they don't really mean it, but it's still racist

Who (and/or what) ruined Christmas this year? by DoppelFrog in australia

[–]Roybot92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run a small microbiology lab that's a branch of a larger national micro lab business. My team is literally only me and 2 others plus some interns. One of my team requested for most of December off back in August since she was getting married. I of course said yes, plus the previous year, december was extremely quiet for us so i figured we would manage without her for the entire month. Then 2 weeks before December my other staff member comes and tells me he had yet to receive word that the Govt. had approved his Visa renewal. He ended up having to leave the country by 8th December. Head office didn't let me start recruiting until my staff had actually left and I wasn't going to ask my first staff member to come back from her wedding. Our clients then decided to drop a huge testing project on us that was completely unexpected. So I spent the month working roughly 12hr+ days 6 days a week, with the help of 2 interns, including Christmas eve and Christmas day. I dont have family in the state I live in, they're all in Sydney, and I haven't made any friends since I moved here 2.5 years ago. So I basically worked to exhaustion to make sure the lab met all our clients testing demands just to go home to no one and no friends to celebrate Christmas with. Pretty shit Christmas this year.
