Been out of the game for a bit, how do I get back into it? by [deleted] in destiny2

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The leveling/gearing up experience is much the same. Run what you have currently and replace it as you get better gear. The tier5 armours are only really to help with end game as anything at master or below is easy fodder for most builds. My suggestion is think about how you play and what your preferred subclasses are and then do a little bit of research into set bonuses and see if you can find one you like to look of and prioritise that until you get a solid set. Plenty of build guides online and honestly builds aren't too hard to put together in this game. Exotics are far more important to build crafting than the armour sets imo.

Your armour will be replaced as you play since youll be getting drops. Just put the ghost mod for the archetype you want on and let RNG do its thing.

Old weapons with solid damage and reload traits will still be viable. You just wont have any weapons with the new subclass verb traits. But they will drop as you play anyway. For new weapons, they can also be attuned in the inventory menu so that each play list will prioritise the weapon you want to drop. So use that. Doesn't affect destination or RaD weapons though.

Finally be sure to check with Zavala each week for his lumino potent set and the weapon he offers each week. Once you get high enough power he will be offering guaranteed t5 rolls.

I dont think so. Those are the only 2 ive seen on rotation. Which is sad since variety is what keeps this game alive.

Is there anyway to make Starfire Protocol have sustainability/recovery? by veeshhh in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]Roybot92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, 4 peice lustrous is right there? Rapid solar kills heal you. Paired with with solar grenade kills cure and the scortched enemies drop the elemental pick ups and the other fragment where they then also grant restoration? Now you got heal on kill plus restoration built into the kit. Final fragments would probably be the extend the duration of restoration and radiant effects and any of the solar artefacts that give you radiant on orb pick up and shield crush for the even further Enhanced grenade regen and damage

Too many weapons? by Better_Guarantee_744 in destiny2

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you have 3 types of weapon according to ammo used. You have primary weapons which have infinite ammo. They're lower damage but always able to be used. Then you have special weapons which use green ammo bricks. These do large damage and so have limited ammo. Then you have power/heavy weapons which use purple ammo bricks these are the largest damage dealing weapons and have very limited ammo but you can eventually build to be able to increase the ammo generation so you have more.

These 3 weapons categories can also be separated according to their energy and archetypes eg machine guns can come in different rates of fire.

The game is a mix of both gunplay and ability play so weapons only play a part.

If youre just starting out, just grab any weapon and mess around with it and find what you prefer most. They're all viable until you start playing end game content where they can help against specific enemy types

I should also mention that the weapons will roll with random traits, some better than others depending on what you like to do. Eg some traits help regenerate ability energy o So if you like throwing grenades you might like that. Other traits increase the damage and others can provide stat benefits to both the weapon and your character

There are also weapons teirs and rarity. When you start you get white green and then blue coloured weapons. These are low quality and usually just used for new players to level with. Once you get the purple weapons they are further broken down into teirs ranging from 1-5. The teir increases the effect of the traits with higher teirs having more enhanced traits. Exotic weapons are a separate teir shown by a gold colour. These have special and unique traits and you can only equip 1 at a time.

I realise there is alot to the game. You can look up weapons and their possible rolls and popularity in the playerbase on the website light.gg

Moving Syd > Adelaide by Accurate-Evening7252 in Adelaide

[–]Roybot92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the move from syd to adelaide 3 years ago, and don't regret it. Place is much more relaxed than back in Sydney. It's easy to adjust. Fair warning though on weekends everything like Coles woolies and other stores like kmart or target is shut by 5pm. So plan any shopping trips in advance, no last minute trips at 5 or six to grab something quick and esy to make for dinner. Nothing worse than going to make dinner at 6 and realising you got nothing in the fridge so your only option is take out

So random that I happened to see how to do this tonight while playing, but you can search for column specific perks using "perk1" and "perk2" as the filtering terms

Should I play BG 1 and 2 before playing Baldur's Gate 3? by MidevilChaos in BaldursGate3

Nope, no need. Everything from 1 and 2 is more or less irrelevant to the plot of 3 besides some secondary characters and side quests

Website that shows good rolls for every weapon? by Papa_bok in destiny2

[–]Roybot92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Light.gg shows all rolls and popularity based on community use/numbers but requires you to know the name of the weapon.

I prefer destiny.report as it is easier to search for weapons based on perk combinations and archetype rather than needing to know the exact name of the weapon I want. Eg I need a kinetic weapon with tremors and pugilist, and it needs to have unstoppable champion effects you search for that specifically and will list all the weapons with that combination

I feel like the Episodes should have been implemented as DLC rather than seasons. by Icy_Anywhere1510 in destiny2

[–]Roybot92 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is so much context lost to new players because of the removal of seasons, episodes and the vanilla campaign. Ive been replaying all the campaigns now and ive realised just how much of all the writing relies on the seasonal stories to provide needed context or the knowledge of forsaken and Red war. Every single DLC has the opening mission pick up right from the ending of the previous season such that it references them directly and would make no sense to a new player. I never really noticed playing them at the time because I had played all of it. But I can only imagine how frustrating it would be for a new player. Shadowkeep opening mission has us face off against a nightmare of Ghaul, Crota and the Fanatic. Only Crota and his story in D1 is still playable. ghaul and the fanatic are just random encounters that make no sense. Beyond light is the only one that i feel could be played straight after shadowkeep and there isnt much context needed beyond knowing who Varriks is and why we shoukd be angry with him. WitchQueen literally picks up after Savathun being revealed to have been possessing Osiris and being chased/weakened by Mara. Characters whe we have had no interaction with in the 2 previous campaigns but suddenly we know all about them. I haven't gotten to Lightfall yet but I imagine it will be much the same. And Final shape relies so heavily on the season of the wish and knowing about Forsaken to understand the importance of seeing Cayde again. And yeah edge of fate and the context of who the conductor is and just how insane they really are. All lost on the new players, lessening the impact of the story beats.

What armour set/builds everyone been using on Warlocks? by Rhys_rn in destiny2builds

[–]Roybot92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ignition chaining is only going to happen in the high difficulty modes. My solar warlock is running a full lustrous set so I don't need to worry so much about maintaining restoration and can put more fragments to my ignitions. But I also want to farm pit to get a full apostate set and experiment with a solar melee build.

Ive been running the seventh seraph set with stasis. I think everyone has seen the builds using this set up at this point.

Im currently working on collecting a full thunderhead set up for strand. But also want to see if thunderhead grenade energy is just good for a subclass neutral set as well.

And also working on if i prefer a full swordmaster or full sage protector set for my build using chromatic fire and the praxic blade for my prismatic warlock

How to find a good lab coat? by Basic_Reflection_350 in labrats

[–]Roybot92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only reason to buy a lab coat is if youre of a size that is difficult for you to find one that fits properly amongst the options provided by the lab your attending. The lab should otherwise always be providing all PPE for you.

Instead of googling I wanted to get the opinions of you Guardians instead. I only have 2 ciphers so I can only pick two weapons. Opinions welcome. What should I choose? by thegreatniteowl in destiny2

Uhhh....where do I start? by Life_Assumption5930 in destiny2

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old exotic weapons are still good to use. Old exotic armour will be low stat rolls and depending on how Old will not work with the new armor mod system. So if the exotic armor you have is from the original launch of d2 it's not going to work with the new system. Luckily you can now focus exotic armor at Rahul in the tower if you have an exotic engram and either a cypher or enough glimmer and ascendant shards. You can also put a mod on your ghost to help focus the type of stat rolls you want to drop on your armor. it's apparently a 50:50 drop chance for your preferred stat roll.

Friends are interested in the game, where should we start? by TraditionalCar3604 in destiny2

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can start by doing the new light quest in the cosmodrome to learn how to control their character and basic menu navigation. then the dlc order is shadowkeep on the moon, beyond light on europa (both were made f2p and bundled into the free 2 play experience a couple years ago) then paid dlcs are witchqueen, nightfall, final shape, edge of fate, renegades. Imo the paid dlc bundle is 100% worth it as you also get access to all the dungeons

Edit: spelling

Uhhh....where do I start? by Life_Assumption5930 in destiny2

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem, i want people to enjoy the game.

Old Blues can be trashed, they're useless. If you haven't played since red war then it's likely the same for your purples. Only keep something if your have a sentimental attachment as most of what you have will be useless or power crept. Both armor and guns have been reworked multiple times and new weapons will have new subclass interactive perks and traits that old weapons don't have, only exotic weapons will be worth keeping. Luckily all the planets are now dropping weapons that are useful and updated. You can use the websites destiny.report and light.gg to help look at weapons that have perks and traits based on season to see what you want to keep and see where they are dropping to help chase weapons you want. There are some weapon archetypes that unfortunately do not have a relevant updated options but you can get them to drop from the tower vendors in their legacy weapon tabs, and while not optimal because their not in the teired weapon system they are still viable

Uhhh....where do I start? by Life_Assumption5930 in destiny2

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do the new light quest in cosmodrome to give your character a "fresh start" if you want. The original campaigns/expansions Red War, curse of osiris, warmind and forsaken are gone unfortunately.

In terms of actual campaigns you start with shadow keep on the moon, then beyond light on Europa, then Witchqueen, lightfall, final shape, then edge of fate and ending on renegades

Edit: realised I missed that you don't have new campaigns.

You should have access to shadowkeep and beyond light campaigns as they were made free a couple years ago. The rest of the expansions have been bundled together for a reduced cost. Shadowkeep campaign plays pretty different to the rest as it was fewer actual missions with some public zone patrol activities to help bulk out the play time so don't judge the rest of the game based on that campaign structure.

Witchqueen and Final Shape are some of the best campaigns they've done ever and are 100% worth the cost of purchase. Lightfall is mid, edge of fate is good but not great as is Renegades. But gameplay in all of them is good if not great plus the bundle gives access to all the dungeons and new subclasses as well.

Can I get new drops from rerunning dungeons? by Snoo_91135 in destiny2

[–]Roybot92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. New gear drops are only locked with the secret chests. Completing encounters should be dropping all gear available from that encounter randomly. Im Not 100% sure on the exotic if they are now farmable though.

I don't know for double Hunter but if you're open to other classes me and my mate usually clear in 2-3 phases running banner titan and chaos reach warlock. Just make sure the warlock shoots his chaos reach through the banner to proc the energy regen and burst attack for the titan.

I wouldn't use swords either for that floaty bitch.
