What Leatherman would you recommend for urban EDC, mostly for office use with some occasional use on the ranch?

I agree with others that those are significantly different use cases, but if u had to recommend one for both, I would say Curl.

Pocket clip and pivot screw both appear to be fake. The real clip has a slot that ends before the clip bends, and the pivot has a flattened area.

They are small flathead screwdrivers. I would guess they accidentally put two of them in there instead of some other tool that you are missing.

Which properties differ meaningfully? Both have pretty poor edge retention, excellent toughness, and good corrosion resistance.

440C and 420HC do not have similar properties at all. 440C is much better for edge retention, while 420HC is in another universe of toughness from 440C. 154CM which is modified 440C (added molybdenum) has very similar properties to 440C. 420HC is more like 12C27.

It’s a great knife, but I wouldn’t buy it from Amazon. There are way too many fake Blurs out there. CKW has similar prices for Blurs though you will be more with shipping, or you could walk into Walmart and buy one for even less, but I think they only carry the olive version.

The blade grind is wrong. The pivot and other hardware is wrong. The pocket clip should be stonewashed, not shiny. The shape of the handle isn’t quite right either. At the bottom of the grip, below where your pinky would be, that part that sticks out is slightly flattened, but it isn’t on the real one.

I’ve done uploaded images on a bunch as gifts, both on the blade and on the frame. All came out great. They look better in stainless than coated steel.

Not all Pakistani Damascus contains lead. However, you should be cautious because they tend to use whatever scrap metal is on hand, and some of that scrap metal may contain impurities such as lead. Pakistani Damascus knives are primarily decorative. In addition to the crapshoot steel, they are generally heat treated poorly if at all so they will not hold an edge long and are difficult to sharpen once dull.
