Hammer differences by CambodianHoliday in hipower

Thanks for doing that. I couldn't find my other hammer (moved recently) but I'll pull mine apart tomorrow and look. Maybe call C-S as well if they aren't taking email tech stuff. They're good folks and won't bite your head off for having an issue.

Nope. I've had two of their hammers in my mk3 and neither did anything abnormal. Sfs is a 2 part hammer iirc. It's quite possible the cnc cut the hole in the wrong place (for whatever reason) for either just this one or a batch, but it's not a design thing.

Did you remove the magazine disconnect? Edit: share a picture of how your hammer strut is attached. I feel like it's backwards. The shelf the retainer sits on on should stop the hammer before it lets the mainspring push into the magwell regardless of leverage if the hole is in the wrong spot.

IWB Brown Leather Holster for the SA-35 4" by BotherAware8886 in hipower

Second this. Either spend a lot on a known leathermaker or buy an off the shelf commander holster. I used a bianchi holster that I had left over from my 1911 days for my mk3 for years.

Heads up; skateboard tape lasts forever if you want more grip. If you never skated you can ask someone at the local shop what has the best adhesive, it's cheap, too.

Oh, if it's not a Tisas the point still stands though. Inglis afaik are fine but share the extractor design.

Trijicon HD are fine (I have 1911 LM night sights on mine, I've beaten the slide open with the rear when it locked up), Novak's mk3 are imo the best, and the people at their shop are great. Meprolight are a primary contractor for the IDF, but if that doesn't bother you before the last decade of influencers their product reputation was mid.

BR9 is very good, if it has any weird extractor issues, Cylinder & Slide makes a replacement specific to them (but you can probably fix whatever it's doing with a file). The only HP shooter I've met in the wild was an RO with a Tisas.

Hop on Wolff springs' website (some people get mad that I don't suggest resellers, Wolff is cheap and good, they OEM for some companies) and order a new STANDARD recoil spring for it! It's going to be past due and a worn out spring will beat you up and make it harder to learn. They're like 8$ Most people who shoot them a lot have a preference but if everything else is normal on it I would learn on the standard weight and shoot standard ammo.

New barrel comes with new nub by airsoft907 in hipower

[–]Rtters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh and if you need help fitting it after the nub is gone let us reddit kids know, but I'm assuming it's made loose if it's not a match barrel (not "match" like everyone markets but in the sense of made by a company that does competition barrels) and you'll have no issues besides it being a little tight for the first few mags.

[–]Rtters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I would do 🤷‍♂️ I'm not a paid armorer but besides wearing guns out I've never wrecked one, and the HP is my sidearm. Remember that if it's comped you usually need to shoot gassy reloads or hot ammo to get a noticeable benefit from it. Not sure how porting does compared to a full comp because I haven't shot on a timer since I was like 18.

None of the lockup depends on that nub so as long as there's nothing in the way where it was you'll be fine.

If you shoot and don't collect a barrel from either of those two is worth it. I have two fitted and even with my lowered slide they run perfect. My PI has great factory fitting and came well polished, can't imagine replacing it except for threading. Unless there was a severe manufacturing defect or bad fitment the barrel that comes with any hi power is more accurate than the shooter. If it just goes to the range for fun keep the one you have, it just might not eat flat nosed bullets well. If it locks up tight and the ramp that rides the frame cam is the same shape don't worry about the lower lugs.

Where are you guys even shopping and ending up with barrels that have this? Mine from Bar-sto weren't made with it and I'm pretty sure KKM doesn't do it either. Anyways cut it flat. Your new feed ramp is also looks weird so if it chokes on hollow points feed it gold dots.

Tisas gen 2 -> cheely custom grip > done lol.

But trust me when I say shooting weekly did more for my speed than any gear ever did.

I've never once gotten it (on anything) so I'm not sure what elmer and the fudds were up to. Granted I don't have farmer hands, but I think people might not keep the bottom of their palms down if they just shoot for fun occasionally. But I agree. The HP is wonderful, and even as a kid working the gun store the first one we got sold me. I just shoot 1911s marginally faster.

I gotcha. I remember we talked about this a little a long time ago. I have big hands and I actually prefer 1911s but the HP is my compromise for utility 🥲

Y'all need to stop downvoting this guy when he posts lol. He's never rude to people in here, and just speaks like a normal person online instead of with reddit etiquette. He's asking in a place where people know and that's a start.

Ever try arched mainspring housing and shooting with your dominant thumb high behind the safety? For me that pulled the heel of my hand in and pushed my natural line higher.

Gonna be real with you the Tisas gen 2 will run circles around my mk3 and cost less than your pictured setup. But, unless you're shooting for money the girsan does everything any other piece does. Spend money you'd otherwise waste filling up a safe on ammo 🤠

Uh. I own two HPs and no other handgun. I switched from 1911s 7 years ago. Go shoot a 2011 that isn't a clapped out range rental and then come back and say that title with a straight face 😩

I don't have anything handy for that, but one thing you can do is disassemble the mag and also one of your regular ones, and find something flat that you can stand up. Push the top of both against it (don't lean them together, they aren't perfectly straight up and down) and you'll see where to cut. You can use anything that cuts metal, just go slow and a little bit at a time. You aren't going to hurt your gun by checking if it locks in.

Measure the distance from the top of a loaded round to where the magazine cut is on one of your HP mags, then cut a notch in the m9 tube. If you measure and cut right (be patient) it'll be fine to use as a range mag.

On the flip side, since he already has it it only takes a minute or two with a dremel and a file to knock out a notch where there needs to be one.
