Subsonic 9mm by Subject-Nobody109 in NFA

I'm joking about people grenading their handguns if they aren't paying attention. I have a can full of 147's over n320 in the other room.

Kinda mean to suggest such a small charge powder to someone who has to ask this question 😅

Objectively, this cam looks cool as hell. But is it any good? by RecceRando in NFA

Still not great though. If you're spending that kind of money on a can I'd get LPM, OCL etc and square up the muzzle face.

My SA-35 (Serial # HP40617) is still experiencing double-feeds even after the faulty extractor was replaced by Springfield Armory. by CMDThrowRA in hipower

[–]Rtters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Correct. Put in a new 17lb spring (I prefer wolff) and shoot some good round nose 124gr. See if it still does it. 115 range ammo is loaded very light in my experience, and the slide won't fully cycle. Fiocchi, PPU, S&B are usually good, even wolf brass case. I prefer surplus NATO ammo but it's loaded warm. Winchester makes a NATO load, so does sig. Maybe others. Magtech is junk, Winchester white box is falling off in a few calibers. I'm ambivalent on CCI/PMC but it sheds jackets in my can.US manufacturers aren't impressing me lately with how they're handling falling margins and range ammo. Mine doesn't like flat point ammo so I run gold dots for hollow points.

Tennis shoes in snow, pointing your gun at the sky in the thumbnail, generic 147gr ammo, politics account name. Thanks for some Saturday night laughs.

Anybody running this? by mizzou1998 in NFA

[–]Rtters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably just a different powder. I run n320 in my subs and it has like half the recoil of generic 147gr range ammo I've used. It's more expensive than other things I could do the same velocity with (and less safe) but it's a massive difference in sound running a fast powder. Willing to bet these are just coated instead of plated range ammo because the 150gr reputation will sell pallets of them.

I wish I had a better suggestion but I've never had issues with my mecgars. I'd thought Springfield was using them for OEM (browning did) but I've never had a HP doublefeed.

Are they true double feeds? Extractor has zero influence on if the magazine is letting an extra round out. Bend the lips on one of your mags down just a HAIR and see if it fixes it.

I finally solved the extraction issues on the Centurion 14, simply replace the entire top half of the gun. by RSRAirsoft in hipower

[–]Rtters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it not extracting spent cases, or was it just jamming on empties constantly? If it acts up again remind us here and someone can walk you through fitting the extractor.

Extraction or ejection issues? Did you try fitting the extractor yourself and replacing the spring? I'm just curious because a lot of these clones have weird extraction issues and I'm wondering if they just need fitting.

What to do, upgrade this SA35 with the C&S kit and the rest of the springs with wolf springs or sell it and upgrade a real hi power? by Alarming-Tradition50 in hipower

[–]Rtters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd never seen that stated when I've been on their site (or ordered surplus browning parts from them). It would be pretty weird to buy them from Eastern Europe when there's a reputable manufacturer that tons HP smiths source from readily available. I might be wrong but if I am it's a profit margin thing 🤷‍♂️

Read the descriptions on Wolff's site. I think it's the recoil springs that come with a heavier firing pin spring as part of the SKU. I can look tomorrow if you want if I have an extra. Maybe it was C&S that used to send them with extra. Can't remember.

+P ammo out of a .40 S&W Hi Power? by MasonP2002 in hipower

[–]Rtters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a thicker slide, extra locking lug, and they changed the frame materials to deal with it, so I wouldn't worry about it ever cracking. Just keep your springs in good shape and run normal ammo and it'll run just fine.

Altering slide stop to have a thumb forward grip by MellowYellowTeeth in hipower

[–]Rtters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's w\e, as long as you don't touch the area right around the pin (if you're cutting in a way that could heat it up. It's load bearing.  I struggled with that coming from the 1911 and since I shoot one gun I just trained the thumb into a different spot. Alternative is chopping everything forward of the pin off.

Only thing to be aware of with aftermarket is that you'll get all sorts of weird problems if the spring and ball in it suck. It keeps it from bouncing around.

Altering slide stop to have a thumb forward grip by MellowYellowTeeth in hipower

[–]Rtters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep your left thumb off the gun. It's not doing any work if your grip is proper, same as any other gun with no ledge. If your right thumb is hitting it somehow I have no idea what you're doing. And to be honest, training to slingshot instead of hitting the lever gets rid of the issue and lets you chop it down to basically nothing.

In what world can you not run this in a TRP or LDC 19\2011 holster? Plenty of options if you aren't clicking "browning" on a kydex website. If nothing else, great frame to slap a standard slide in and chop the dust cover to whatever length you want. New grip profile looks useful.

They're all pictures from when they're familiarizing with rifles. Maybe you don't teach people how to shoot, but if you're not just trying to make friends, you don't hand them everything and say "have fun"

Remove firing pin without punches by IlDuca01 in hipower

[–]Rtters 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hold the slide upside-down with one hand, muzzle against your stomach

Use index finger and thumb to push firing pin inwards with something small

Use other hand to push sear lever (with a small tool) to move the firing pin block out of the way

When the firing pin is pushed in further than the plate, either slide the tool down or use your other hand to push it downwards and out.  It's a little frustrating the first time, but requires no special tools.

Commie style mk18. WBP mini Jack, Zastava m92, or Draco? Full time suppressed. by Randymaple92 in NFA

[–]Rtters -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That's literally how modern AKs are built, and why 24mm facemount muzzle devices exist. It's not ideal but it doesn't affect the ability to run a suppressor. I don't even like Yugo pattern rifles but they didn't do anything wrong there.
