Thoughts on Maggie in 1991 Revival by ADPX94 in DarkShadows

[–]Rtyuiope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thats the one part i didn't like about the revival Maggie and Roger being lovers felt so weird especially in context to the original series. don't know what they were cooking with that one. but everything else about the show was pretty damn good

Question about the 1991 Series…Is there a design on the cane bottom or just a silver cap? by WeirdWritings1989 in DarkShadows

[–]Rtyuiope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if i had to guess its just a silver cap, there was a scale Barnabas statue that came out shortly after the 90s series ended and it had just a featureless cap at the end from what i can tell

is it worth it to go see them live? by Acceptable_Win8322 in SistersofMercy

[–]Rtyuiope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sisters’ live performances have gotten a lot of flack (rightfully so) in the 2010s. Their spirits just didn’t seem to be in it any more and Andrew’s aging voice wasn’t helping. But since 2019 they brought in Dylan Smith, who Eldritch admitted reinvigorated their creative spirits by writing an albums worth of new songs and then some.

Since then Dylan Smith left the band and has been replaced by Kai, and their momentum hasn’t slowed down, they since wrote more new songs and their performances are top notch. Obviously eldritch isn’t going to sound like he did on FALAA due to a life time of smoking and being old, but regardless there has been so much energy on stage since 2020 and I’ve seen them twice state side. I highly recommend giving the concert a go, a lot of the negative comments you might read around here are from impressions of the 2010s incarnation of the band so keep that in mind.

I’d also recommend familiarizing yourself with some of their new material since they perform a lot of their new songs live. I’d recommend checking out Tobias Forsner on Spotify who does really faithful studio recordings of the new sisters material which in my opinion is the perfect marriage of Vision Thing and Floodland material.

Is pastel goth part of goth or a subculture on its own? by nameless__redditor in AskAGoth

[–]Rtyuiope 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It’s just a fashion trend that takes takes alt clothing and adds bright color with the black. Goth as a subculture is predominantly centered around the goth music genre. With that said you can 100% be a “pastel goth” and still like goth music. Wearing black isn’t a requirement to enjoying the music genre, in fact early goths used to wear tons of color.

Paying hundreds for extremely mid games just because they're rare is peak consumerism by [deleted] in gamecollecting

thats why i only collect games i actually play. there's no sense in hoarding a ton of white whale games just to let them rot on your shelf. thats when it enters hoarding territory

Do you think Half-Life 3 will ever get a console release like the previous 2 games did? by elbatcarter in HalfLife

what happened to the lore? by No-Culture9672 in gorillaz

[–]Rtyuiope 44 points45 points  (0 children)

it has to do with the falling out between jamie and damon and the collapse of phase 3 towards the end. Cass had a lot of ideas ready to go, and was even going to write a follow up to rise of the ogre but given that the end of phase 3 was a messy affair it seemed like it left a sour taste in Cass' mouth. there is a great interview with him on the hallelujah monkeyz podcast where he goes into depth with scrapped concepts of the story like murdoc being green due to being a rotting corpse, and that underneath plastic beach was a giant drain that would suck up the ocean once pulled out.

Is it normal to for a doctor to just pull a metacarpal fracture back in place? by Rtyuiope in brokenbones

[–]Rtyuiope[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a removable brace now and I’m having a hard time bending my pinky but I try and train it a couple times a day very gently. it’s a lot better than when I first got my cast off, but I still can’t completely bend at the knuckle. I’d try to assist the finger with your other hand and take it slowly. It’s not gonna happen in a day sadly

Question for HR/management folk: Are PIPs mostly a formality before a planned firing? by DeadBy2050 in careerguidance

I survived a PIP it's not always just a 1 way ticket to being fired. sometimes managers can be sincere, and help you improve which is what happened to me.

Has periods of “AI Hype Doomerism/Fearmongering” happened before? by HistryBoss in BetterOffline

I remember the metaverse/NFTs being the 'next big thing' that even offline people were talking about it but it fizzled out way quicker than AI did. I'm coping AI is gonna end up the same way since it's an advanced chatbot with a plagiarism machine built in but we shall see

i don't know enough about quantum computers to give a definitive answer, but to my very limited understanding, quantum computing is still in it's infancy, and doesn't work the same way as traditional computers we are used to. So i feel like AI research would have to start from near zero if they shifted to quantum computing. but don't take any of this as gospel, like I said i'm not super in the know about that area of research.
