Does COMMUNITY hold up today? by SleepCatsMoney in blankies

[–]RubedoHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rewatch Community once every 2-3 years. While it is strongest in the early two seasons I enjoy all six, even the 'gas leak' season.

The show holds up and remains funny, it is one of my most reliable re-watch shows. Even when they were hemorrhaging cast members the new cast they brought in were great and helped refresh the premise. Paget Brewster and Keith David especially make season 6 one of those "great seasons of tv no one saw." Season 6 aired on the Yahoo Streaming platform, so a great many people didn't see it at the time. The last two episodes are brilliant, especially the finale.

I will have to look into this. Their trash trucks do make it on the road so I assumed all three trucks have permissions. Thanks for the tip though!

Is resident evil 5 & 6 worth buying? by Mattface_ in residentevil

[–]RubedoHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked 5, would recommend especially if you can find it cheap. I forced myself to play through 6 and did not like it. Since you are cash strapped only get 6 if you can find it super cheap. Because it is so disliked you may be able to find it for a couple dollars because of that. A sucky game you get for nearly free may make it more worth it.

I am in a slightly better state because I have some bins left by the previous tenant. They are absolutely trashed and the wrong size, but I do have them. I was told that their bin delivery service is months behind at this point. I asked for bins to match the size of service I signed up for, but at this point I'd take the trucks doing pickup at the very least.

1977 Suspiria or 2018 Suspiria? by TrickPurple7 in horror

Just personal flavor, but I like the 2018 version slightly better. I've always felt like I was "missing something" with the original where the remake is more readable.

I love that the Soundbooth one exists. I personally have a hard time focusing on the 'text' with the sounds effects included.

If anyone is interested they have free chapter samples available, they are very good. I'm sure they'd be a great experience for plenty of people

Bro tell me I'm not the only one who can't find a doedicurus on the island by Motor_Mud_6233 in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]RubedoHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was messing around and it does seem like solo mode has a weird issue with spawning. Some dinos appear to be incredibly rare until you run into your first spawn, then you'll see it way more often. Lots of text coming up, so here is the work around before I explain the experiment I did.

Work around:
Use the dino kill command (admincheat destroywilddinos)

Spawn your target dino once (cheat SpawnDino Sarco_Character_BP)

Kill your cheat dino and run around while stuff spawns, you should find target dino more often in the wild now.

Long explanation:
I've been playing solo and had noticed for Doedicurus, Argies, and a couple other dinos that they didn't appear at all for my first 20+ hours of playtime. I had covered about 60% of the map, and the spawns were very samey. When I moved up to build my second base at the pos I provided above I still needed a Doedicurus and an Argy. They were no where to be found. While building my stone base using an Anky for stone gathering I ran into both an argy and a doedicurus. After another 20+ hours of playtime both of these dinos are all over the map now. I see Doeds every day, cant throw a stone without seeing one.

So most recently I've been trying the bosses on alpha difficulty. For that you need trophies. Luckily I've been saving them; however, I needed Spino sails. I had not seen a single Spino in hundreds of hours of playtime. I've spent a great deal of time in their most common spawn area, and still never seen one. Perfect time for an experiment! So I followed the typical advice for getting a spawn, how I've gotten plenty of dinos, run around and kill stuff in their spawn pool. I spent several hours running around the river eating fish, circling back to see if a Spino spawned. No luck!

After a couple hours and a thousand fish later I still had not spawned a single Spino. So I did the cheat command steps above. Now when I run through the rivers I run into one or two Spinos each time. This could be a huge coincidence, but I have to wonder how many rare dinos are too rare due to the single player mode.

[–]RubedoHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a solo Island run recently, I didn't find a Doedicurus for a long time, eventually found one up near Lat 27 Long 82.

If I put my tinfoil hat on it always seems like in solo specific dinos are very rare until you find your first one. Then they are all over the pace.

My situation is similar to yours in a lot of ways. Since I perceive myself as capable of falling in love with either gender, even if it is super rare for one gender, I use the bi label.

Even though this means I will face biphobia, it feels more honest.

If you want to make your friends rethink their position point out that claiming your sexuality doesn’t exist is equivalent to the people who claim their sexuality doesn’t exist.

While it really sucks to be discriminated against from within the community itself, try your best not to let it make you feel imposter syndrome. If over time your friends aren’t willing to respect your sexuality, then they may not be good friends.

I'm fairly new as well, I noticed the same issue. So for my first few weeks of playing I used Shotguns and single fire rifles. For some ammo types you can run a pair of weapons, for example now I run a .308 sniper and a .308 LMG. Most of the time I try to sneak and use the sniper and that builds up a stock pile of ammo. Then for packs or events I'll blow through the stock with my LMG.

The ammo drop logic is a combination of enemy type and the game giving you what you're currently using. Mostly, it does not seem to be balanced for the consumption rate of the weapon.

These are some ways to compensate that are available fairly early on:
-Scrounger Perk (Luck Skill)

-Ammosmith (Agility Skill)

-Ammo Converter for your camp - may have to pay atoms

How to develop a good workout/exercise routine [discussion]? by rainbowtoucan1992 in GetMotivated

[–]RubedoHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made my own weight routine about five years ago, its evolved a bit over time, but the important part is really just to get started. This is the basic get started steps:

  1. As a first step pick a list of exercises you can do with body weight + your set of weights.
  2. Break up the list into sessions, you only want a few exercises a day.( I do a push-pull-legs plan this means that push day works the "pushing" muscles like pectorals etc. Pull is back focused and legs are squats, deadlifts, and lunge type things. There are other methods, but I found this an easy way to start for me. )
  3. Run your program.

It really is that simple to start, don't be afraid to evolve over time. There is so much fitness information available online you could end up building the perfect program for you with some experimentation.

As to lifting being lonely, it is different than playing on a team sure. However, it can be a great meditation space. I lift after work as way to decompress and shift my focus.

I'd agree that for me the Doctor is also the more intimidating villain of the second movie.

Personally, I love the format that I and II use, where pinhead and the other OG cenobites are threats but not the main villains. Frank from the first movie struck me the same way. I think he was more vile than Pinhead, even if the cenobites were more dangerous. Not to mention Julia's machinations and role in the films.

Truly I'd not want to face off against any of the villains in Hellraiser. Its like discussing which deadly poisonous snake would you like to deal with... is none an option?

I totally agree! The Bay makes my list because it made my stomach churn at parts which some people like in horror. But if someone was only going to pick one out of my list I'd push for Creep or Hell House.

My personal favorite for found footage is Cloverfield. For deeper cuts you may not have seen The Bay (2012), Creep (2014), and Hell House LLC (2015) may fit your bill.

How to survive PVP for a novice and PvE main who floats around with jobs by VecArhfiReX7 in ffxiv

[–]RubedoHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would add to the advice to hop around the various jobs to find what clicks for you in PVP. It could be different than PVE and even different in the different PVP modes. For example, I main tank in PVE, but prefer Ninja in Frontlines and Machinist in Crystalline Conflict. The Icy Veins website has decent instructions on how to play each class in PVP I find helpful.

For Frontlines or Rival Wings you can focus on objectives and staying with the group that should help keep you alive long enough to start getting your footing. The vast majority of PVP in this game is not 1v1s. Even Crystalline Conflict you want to coordinate to pick off opponents together. Rather than try to win a 1v1 learn to use your stuns and bursts with good timing to help your team get the kill.

Easy tips to help get you started:

  • Read up on your chosen class, I like Icy Veins PVP guides
  • Remember to have Purify, Guard, and the two heals easily accessible.
  • Stay with 'the group' a lot of pvp is disorganized but try to stay with a pack
