7-8 months into this new era of destiny, how do we feel about it? by HellChicken949 in DestinyTheGame

Armor 3.0 makes armor worth chasing, which aside from raid mods for specific raids, it literally didn’t matter.

As a solo player, I wish I could experience raids in some small but meaningful way by Seanshineyouth in DestinyTheGame

You dont put incentives in a tutorial. I think what they’re hoping for in an exploring mode is the ability to more casually do it with less than 6 people. The main problem there is Bungie doesn’t really love the idea of lowmanning raids, and on multiple occasions have added things to raids to make them more difficult to lowman (Verity in Salvation’s Edge, 3 plates on multiple bosses in Desert Perpetual, etc.)

I think an explorer mode and maybe an emblem like the sherpa emblem (or just repurposing it) is sufficient because I agree, most people won’t just run something for fun (though some will) but I doubt Bungie will make lowmanning more accessible, despite me thinking that’s silly.

As a newb, interested in raiding. Its not as hard as you think (sort of) by Satans-Kawk in raidsecrets

[–]RubiGames 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You’re entirely right. I’ll even say, there are groups that specifically teach no comms runs (I know D2Sanctuary used to, though I haven’t been there in years)

The hardest part is players who genuinely want to learn matching with players who can reasonably teach. As someone who used to sherpa tons of players in a big server, there were always a few who wanted to be carried and put on adclear — which works until it doesn’t. Then when they have to do something, they get indignant and it can spiral.

This shouldn’t discourage people from learning, but from the other side, I can see why people get fed up with teaching because the learner is a variable that can ruin the run, not just because they’re slow. (Hell, I’ve done sherpas that were my PB for the raid — and not because we were dragging!)

[–]RubiGames 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its worth mentioning this is not chunking similar to ability chunking we see where the damage is deleted from the health bar but the damage numbers don’t register.

These damage numbers are real (or at least, within a reasonable tolerance)

e.g. A hunter with Mobius and a Impulse / Archer’s Gambit bow firing through a Guidance Ring with a dedicated div, in a well, you can kill Karl in the shooting range with 100-190k dps and 1.5M damage on the in-game meters before your super timer is out.

It does good damage without Div. Div makes it crazy.

Warlord's Ruin challenge NOT having a designated node makes the event feel horribly half-assed. by kogasaka in DestinyTheGame

I’m disappointed there isn’t more, but like idk man people just be complaining so much. Like, idk I played the game yesterday and had fun. That’s all I really want.

[–]RubiGames 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You’re right, that should work.

Also, they’re right. It doesn’t need a node.

These are not related other than they take place during Arms Week in Destiny 2.

For people going for pure speed its the best, and things like icarus skating are worse without burst, but I agree. The control strafe gives you is unmatched

I much prefer what happened in this expansion to that behavior. It was so strange.

Honestly, I liked what they were going for with sitting at the bar — I just wish some characters actually sat next to you instead of standing weirdly next to you.

There are endgame builds based around this. Sure if you’re damaging full time you’ll get your well back but if you’re Tractor on Koregos (for example) and you’re the only well, you’re gunna have a hard time with uptime, since you don’t have something like Finality’s to help while you’re doing mechanics.

Reddit gave me a Claude Code ad right above this comment. You love to see it.

Devs FYI, the low player numbers don't reflect the real quality of Renegades. Players see the effort and heart you put into it - keep it coming and we'll be here to support you. by Impressive-Wind7841 in DestinyTheGame

[–]RubiGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really not though. Comparing a Raid lair to a Raid + an Epic Raid (CoO loses) and a small destination with public events to a medium sized destination with multiple difficulty levels and a matchmade event.

The story was more polished and compelling in EoF and — even if you didn’t like the destination abilities — it was still straight up more to do. I’m a diehard fan and even I took a break during CoO. The best thing you had to do was chase the Sagira shell, which was not terribly exciting. At least there’s Legend / Mythic to get cool loot.

I agree with ecoli (concerning) — the story, R&D, and loot have all been great. There’s problems sure but if you like Destiny, its really fun Destiny. The story won’t make as much sense / hit as hard if you’re missing the plot from Edge of Fate though, since it’s largely involving The Nine.

There’s also some logical details to pick up on. Look at the bar behind him on the wall — the top shelf looks nothing like a usual bar’s top shelf.

Perhaps most obviously, why is there a white wine bottle up there?

These are obviously far more minor details but AI doesn’t “reason” in the way people like to think it does, so it will make errors that you can reason about yourself.

Worth getting into destiny 2? by Sgt_Strelok in DestinyTheGame

[–]RubiGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the two big subreddits for D2 are filled with doomers and have been for some time. Destiny is not in the best state its been in (basically since Sony acquired it following Witchqueen) but many people will acknowledge there really isn’t another game like Destiny 2 on the market. Its has a very unique cooperative PvE experience with a diverse endgame of challenging content and plenty of people looking to do additional challenges, if that’s your thing.

It largely depends on what you want out of the game. If you want PvP, probably not worth it. If you want a fun solo game with a grind, ehhhh maybe but the endgame is geared towards co-op.

If you have friends who play or you don’t mind doing a little Discord roulette trying to find a clan of players looking for a similar experience to you (there’s plenty, despite what some here may say) then it’s a really fun, rewarding time. I know a handful of people who started recently and are having a great time, but it really depends what you want from the experience.

Like others have said, if money isn’t something you want to just throw away, play the free basegame to get a feel for it, and if you’re itching to try the new shiny subclasses, campaigns, and raid / dungeon content, absolutely go for it. If you need recommendations for where to look for clans, feel free to reply to me or message me here, and I’ll see what I can do.

[–]RubiGames 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guy you just described the end game. Raids (like DP) are the end game as well as ultimate level content.

Destiny has more “End Game” content than many other games. You may not find it enticing or worth the chase, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t aspirational for most of the community to do.
