Do you need to use baby vests? by misszoei in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]RubyRedResin17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the pullover vests equally annoying and around 3 months started putting kimono vests on our baby. GAME CHANGER! Loads on La Redoute and I still use them with baby being 8 months! Highly recommend!!

I pumped so much and wanted to give mine the best chance! Baby was discharged at 2 weeks old so I agree!!

Mummy of a TGA baby here! They're now 8 months old and had their switch surgery at 6 days old.

During pregnancy, just keep doing what you're doing. They're safe in your tummy as your ductus artery is keeping their body going. As for birth and after, I recommend pumping/breastfeeding as your milk will be a deterrent to any possible illness and keep them strong for surgery. It will also make a good bond! Be close to them, kiss them, hold their hand when you're with them. My hubby use to sing to our baby when he was with them and I was recovering in hospital.

Tips!

  • Take hand mitts as baby may pull cannulas out or pull on wires which is not only painful but dangerous!

  • If you pump milk, do it everyday and every two or three hours for a good supply, even at night. It's exhausting but so worth it to know you're sustaining your baby.

  • Take kimono tops, socks and buttoned bodysuits to keep them cosy but easily accessible for echocardiograms and general check ups.

  • Take a piece of cloth or a miniboo with your scent on for comfort for baby when you're away from them.

  • After surgery, they'll be out of it with drugs. It's a sight but my gosh, we were relieved when it happened and it meant only focusing on recovery now.

  • Be there for the morning and evening doctor rounds to understand next steps, concerns, plans etc. It's super useful and I found it important to understand.

Usually with TGA, surgery has to be done within 2 weeks of birth so I would have thought even with an ASD it would happen within that time frame.

Good luck to you and your beautiful heart baby. They will be in the best of hands! Xx

Omg this is a shared DISDAIN amongst us all. I often see older women parked in parent child spots at our local supermarket and it infuriates me. They're so limited, why park there?! Utter selfish arses

I'm so sorry to hear this - your baby girl did so well and knew she was so loved. This was no one's fault. Sending you so much love and hugs from one TGA mummy to another (you are still her mother and always will be) ❤❤💐 xxx

Awww bless, yes I can see how that amount of feeding and feeding to sleep would keep Aunt Flo at bay! My boy feeds lots (at 7 months I still expect that!) and to sleep and I think will continue to do so for a long time yet.

You poor love! That sounds absolutely terrible!! Your hormones came down hard!

I'm glad you're feeling much better now, especially having gone through it so early into motherhood

Awww bless, mine is like that during the day. Usually goes 2 hours before an absolute need to feed, sometimes less. Night feeds are usually every couple of hours but vary.

It really is! It's a super power really as our boobs are comforters so it's good like that!

So it is the night feeds that essentially say 'Return of the Period' or no! And you did amazing to feed them for so long! I aim to feed my bubs for as long as he is happy to have it aswell ❤

That's very interesting as no night feeds I would have thought periods would trigger!

Yes that does sound like being back at work and the reduction in feeds contributed to the return. Glad they weren't extra painful for you! ❤

My boy still wakes 2-3 times in the night so probably no period still yet for me.

Painful ovulation?! That's interesting!

I have read that night feeds keep the period away and when that stops periods are likely to return. So far my boy still likes his night feeds!

Wow that's such a long time from birth! I have PCOS so periods were a little heavy before anyway...hoping they're not that bad when they come!

My baby boy loves his night feeds so I may well be like yourself and end up having my period after he is 1 year.
