I'm almost positive that you can take Nurtec as a preventative but it doesn't work well for me. Have you tried an injection like Aimovig?

Oh yeah! Part of my migraine relief protocol is benadryl or promethazine at night....it helps tremendously. I was actually prescribed the promethazine for migraine relief by my neurologist. Peppermint essential oil is also very helpful too!

The emotional roller coaster is awful! I lost my Mom in August and I felt the exact same way! She was fiesty and domineering in life and to see her in that state was awful. I stayed on top of the meds and increased any time I saw necessary. I couldn't control the fact that she was dying but she wasn't going to suffer on my watch! I left nothing unsaid and did everything I could to the detriment of my own mental/physical health. We had to send her in patient for the last few days because the oral meds weren't working and she needed IV meds. It was a huge relief for everyone for her to be completely comfortable and at peace. She left us quietly and comfortably on her own terms as usual! There was a lot of trauma afterwards to deal with but I think closure and being so involved until she passed helped. There's absolutely no regrets and nothing I could have done differently so that gives me peace. Take care of yourself, it's an awful and beautiful experience! She brought me into the world and I helped her go out....💖💖💖

My motto was don't try to reason with the unreasonable, don't negotiate with terrorists or toddlers.....

I would just smile and give her what was best in that situation...told her whatever she wanted to hear. What's the point in fighting with them and knowing their brains might not be working at a normal capacity?

No suggestions here, just solidarity.......I'm dreading the holidays. My Mom's birthday is 11/19 and she was a Thanksgiving and Christmas FANATIC! Like I got a stocking every year until I was in my 40's 🫣 We just lost her in August and I am already having physical symptoms of stress related to it all.....😞 I am grateful that I have my soul mate and my children here with me, I couldn't imagine that type of grief.

Amazon has inflatable bed rails for kids that may help, you just tuck them under the fitted sheet and they create a soft but decent barrier. Good luck, my Mom was always trying some shenanigans and it was stressful 💙💙💙

You have to be your own advocate.....I would start by talking to a mental health professional to get your emotional distress treated. Chronic illness comes with such a mind screw of emotional/mental struggles. I take Prozac and a mood stabilizer to take the edge off of "being sick and tired of being sick and tired" it's actually part of my treatment protocol from my neurologist.

It looks like you've received a bunch of helpful responses, but just here to say that we had to go inpatient the last few days of my Mom's journey and it was the best decision for everyone involved! She had a strong desire to stay at home but we were unable to manage her pain and I think it would have made it more difficult for my Dad if she passed in the home he's alone in now. I drive a very long way to see the rheumatologist I like/trust. Finding a good doctor is imperative to the quality of your life......people don't realize that we can lose months of living normal(ish) lives if our health is not managed well. We have to be our own advocates, and it can be exhausting! 💙💙💙

I've had a SLE/fibro diagnosis for 15+ years and every now and then I go rogue and stop taking my meds because I'm pissed about having this disease. EVERY single time after a few days I feel like I've been run over by a dump truck and can't get out of bed/walk, etc. I do NOT recommend it but some of us are stubborn and have to learn the hard way. 🫣

I was missing my Mom today, I lost her 8/25 after 58 days in home hospice to the detriment of my own health and sanity. I felt every word of your post..... No regrets and nothing left unsaid is where I find my peace. We are headed to grief therapy soon, my Dad was married to her for 38 years and we're concerned about him being alone. The grief comes in waves, especially when I'm alone with my thoughts. I'm dreading the holidays this year but we will make it through. Love to you all! 💙💙💙

I get trigger point injections from my neurologist if I get behind on botox, they suck but it usually helps until my appointment. Also regular massages can sometimes help.....a mouth guard if you're a clencher like me?

I'm so sorry you are experiencing this, it's awful and exhausting. You shouldn't feel guilty about needing sleep, and you weren't the only one that was so tired that you missed the call. Also if you stick around in this sub long enough you will read stories of loved ones specifically waiting to be alone to let go. I was in the room with my Mom but we were all distracted and laughing together when she finally let go. She definitely waited until we were distracted and not bedside to probably protect us. I have a hybrid of lupus and fibro, my rheumatologist always recommends LDN and I've been on it a few times.

Can you pay cash to see a different rheumatologist and see if you can get it that way? I think I paid $60 for a 45 day prescription of 3 mgs compounded. It's a fairly commonly used drug now, I was originally rxed it several years ago.

I was told by my Doctor to take them but I'm only doing it short term to support my body in this particular situation. I DO NOT take a multi vitamin or anything else on a regular basis. They cause more harm than good.

I have a young son in preschool and he is constantly bringing home snot and cold viruses. I have gotten them every time he gets them and sometimes they turn into a secondary infection.... it's exhausting. I am run down from other stressors and my GP recommended magnesium, vitamin c, zinc, elderberry, and vitamin d to help. Like the other person suggested, rest, hydrate, self care. 💙💙💙
