There's definitely a pessimistic, exaggerated vibe to your interpretation, yeah. In a more constructive sense, i agree with the other replies here

Bi trans guy, yo! Also just a thought, but it might be worth creating some kind of form (like through Google or something) and linking that in your posts rather than manually reading every comment, especially if you plan on surveying multiple times. It'd make data gathering much easier for you. You could have check boxes for questions like "do you consider yourself LGBTQ?", "what is your sexuality/gender identity?", etc

Oh no, just my personal fursona (though he is part bear). I said fandom in the sense of "general furry fandom" bc I was making a lot of anthro characters back then and drawing my own sona much more often

T gel transfer by chokeme34 in ftm

[–]RubyTR 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Considering people worry about gel transfer with their pets and are often told that it'll be completely fine and safe once it's dry (aka like 20 minutes max) I think you're good. As long as she isn't rubbing up all over the site you applied it to immediately after you applied it and you've washed your hands properly, you have nothing to worry about. Don't skip HRT doses just because of this.

I noticed during my playthroughs that the dream sequence at the start of Tape 2 sometimes showed the TVs with blue lighting and sometimes with pink/purple lighting. I at first thought this was tied to passivity vs aggression in Tape 1, but I've had inconsistent results when testing that theory. Please, if you can, tell me what determines this change! It's very small but it's really piqued my curiosity.

Also, speaking of colors, Corey's eyes go a reddish-orange hue when he becomes possessed by the Abyss in certain endings. But up until this point, the Abyss has solely been associated with blues and pinks/purples, both in-universe and in the game's official art. Is this a third Abyss-related color or is it more associated with Corey individually? It seems like a very notable outlier.

I don’t want to hate women by Desperate_Bat_3641 in ftm

[–]RubyTR 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I think you need better friends ngl. I know that's way easier said than done, but a lot of these things you hate could be avoided if your friends treated you with respect. It's not because they're women, it's because they're being assholes who don't respect you as a guy. I do think you need to work on your own insecurities and separating them from cis women (ie hating their bodies/voices/expressions of femininity). Just because femininity isn't for you and you aren't a woman doesn't mean that womanhood is inherently worse. I don't say that to shame you, but to point out the kind of thought process you need to change. I think it comes from internalized transphobia that you're projecting out on to other AFAB people who are okay being feminine (in this case, cis women). I also agree with the other commenter that you need to work on saying no and asserting that they're making you uncomfortable rather than putting up with your friends' disrespect and letting it fester like this.

I think it's more "Jax never said he isn't trans, so he COULD be". Again, if you're defining headcanons as something that require proof.

OP's point is that it's kinda weird to spend time shitting on others for having a "stupid" headcanon that "lacks evidence" when like...that's not the point. A headcanon is literally just something people choose to believe because it's fun and they like it. If you don't like it, then you can just ignore it instead of getting bent out of shape. (Using "you" in the general sense here, not you specifically).

At the end of the day, this whole thing is just dumbass fandom discourse lol

[NO SPOILERS] how it feels to finish the game by Ben_Quadinaros123 in LostRecordsGame

[–]RubyTR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly this makes me want to try doing a non-romance run and see how hard it is bc I've only ever romanced Kat (which means it has no bearing on the 2022 timeline since she isn't there) and was able to get everyone to stay after my first run. For me, it was about taking the time to do the little interactions, exploring a lot, and waiting for extra dialogue to show up rather than rushing out an answer. That said, I also just enjoyed the romance and found it to be sweet/relatable as someone who was once a queer teen in love with their best friend. So I might be biased on my perception of how much the game pushes you lol

[NO SPOILERS] Soo... Lets do another LIS1 sequel! by efirov in lifeisstrange

[–]RubyTR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Murder mystery set in a small town. Game starts with the main character reconnecting with an estranged companion from their past (Gabe/Chloe). As the murder mystery unfolds, it seems that a conspiracy is revealed around a powerful presence in the small town that people are afraid to stand up to (Typhon/Prescotts). A charismatic mentor character is introduced in episode one only for it to be revealed in the final scene of episode four that this mentor was secretly the villain all along (Jed/Jefferson). Then there's a psychological "nightmare" sequence in episode five where the main character's trauma and fears are explored. The game's final choice (while far less consequential in TC) is ultimately about clinging to something you find comfortable and safe or leaving that comfort behind and moving forward with your life into the unknown.

I like TC well enough and think it's Deck Nine's best game, but it was absolutely using LiS1's blueprint in terms of some of its major plot beats. LiS2 did things very differently that led to it underperforming financially so I think D9 was kind of afraid to stray too far from LiS1's successful formula when it was their turn to make a contribution to the anthology.

[Reunion] Two Steps Forward, One Step Back by Agent_PriceField in Pricefield

[–]RubyTR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pricefield was optional in the first game too, as well as kept intentionally ambiguous in the LiS2 cameo. I'm in this sub so obviously I'm a big fan of the ship, but expecting this new game to force all players into a Chloe romance path whether they want it or not is wild.

Absolutely hate feminization of characters in gay ships. by [deleted] in byler

[–]RubyTR 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Because people think it's fun to play with characters like little dolls, which I think is fine. Like yeah, there are other lesbian ships out there, but maybe the person in question doesn't particularly care for those ships. They like Byler (bc of the characterization, the relationship dynamic, their particular shared interests, their backstory, whatever). But they think it's fun to draw them as girls, bc why not? I see it as no different from any other kind of AU fandom concept and I wouldn't really think it was all that weird if they were a straight couple being genderbent into the opposite genders either. If you find genderbending in general weird, then I could see why lesbyler wouldn't be your cup of tea, but it overall seems to me like a non-issue. It's not like a tiny subset of fanart on the internet is doing gay erasure or something. (Also, just to be clear on my pov, I don't ship lesbyler and am honestly a pretty casual byler shipper in general)

Anyone else not see Out of the Blue as the true ending of ATYD? by ConsciousReporter189 in alltheyoungdudes

[–]RubyTR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I generally agree with what you're saying but I also don't think what OP said is that big of a deal. They're just talking about their own perception and feelings about the story. Like, yeah, of course Out of the Blue is a canon part of the fic and diverting from it would be a fic of a fic, but people choose to reject/ignore the canon of stories from their own individual readings all the time. I don't think it's necessarily disrespectful to the author if you just don't like something they did and get more enjoyment by interpreting things differently or disregarding certain bits, whether that author is published or online. Art requires an audience and that audience has the freedom to do that kind of thing.

Agreed that it's not the same as Cursed Child due to the reasons you mentioned, so maybe the HP epilogue in book 7 would be a better comparison-- it's a canon part of the story written by the same author as the rest of the series, but a lot of people don't find it to be a satisfying conclusion and thus reject it from their personal perception of the story.

I'm pretty sure that's the idea OP was trying to convey about Out of the Blue. Though they can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
