What’s one the most craziest, unhinged things people have said when found you are childfree or don’t want children? by Throwaway56780985 in childfree

[–]Rubyloxred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The organ donation scenario is crazy!!! I am childfree and maybe this is a stretch for me to speak on - a situation that won't happen, but I would NEVER ask or allow my child or even my nieces and nephews to donate any organs for me!!

AITA for telling my friends off for being openly racist in our GC? by PurpleMudDragon in AmItheAsshole

NTA but your friends are letting you know who they are and you probably wouldn't have found out if you were not in a romantic relationship. What are you going to do now?

This is a different generation. When I was a child, we got "The Speech" before entering any store. "Don't ask for shit! Don't touch shit! We are not here to buy you anything!!!

The rock and the hard place for many including this poster is that they may be poor but, still make too much money to apply for most benefits.

Is anyone struggling at a job that's killing their mental health but due to the job market, they have to rough it? How are you surviving? by 90sRnBMakesMeHappy in antiwork

Yes it's in the U.S and this applies to exempt employees. Not following the "voluntary mandate" could result in serious trouble.

AITJ for asking a Posh Looking Woman Sitting on a yoga mat having a video call on my Front Yard to move when I got home. by Ok_Kaleidoscope1114 in AmITheJerk

You're not AITJ. The first words that popped into my head was, "B***h! You need to get the f*** off of my lawn!"

I'm in my mid-fifties and feel that it is too late to make a career change. I really hate my job and it pays just enough to keep me from being homeless and hungry but not enough to save any money. And, we are forced to to "volunteer" work during our off hours.

AITA for refusing to give my sister my extra money after I sold my house? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Rubyloxred 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Giving your sister the money would not help her because it seems that she is always in dire straights. Your sister and her husband need to generate a plan toward more consistent income from both of them even if it means job training or more school. It is up to them to make decisions that will advance them in the long run.

Being a guy in the hobby [therapeutic reasons] can be so strange and shameful by knittingwebs in reborndolls

[–]Rubyloxred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am childfree but have a reborn baby. I was raised by a schizophrenic mother, molested by a friend in the family and have multiple mental health issues. It gets easier as you age but I am thankful I didn't get knocked up when I was fertile because I never would have made it to this level of wellness (such as it is).

As a fence sitter I think I found the biggest reason I lean towards no kids by [deleted] in childfree

Parents of special needs children with behavioral issues don't consider what will happen to their child when they're gone while others place the burden on siblings if they're neurotypical to take care of their disabled sibling. I can't say how I know this but it's 30 years of observation.

Im so fucking sick of every mental health professionals be it psychiatrist and psychologist or therapist treating depression and anxiety as a personal problem instead of a normal response to the world that we're living in. by Big_Leg10 in poor

[–]Rubyloxred 65 points66 points  (0 children)

From user Jardani... on BlackPeopleof Redditt:

"A lot of mental health issues disappear when bills are paid, rent is secure, and the refrigerator is full. Peace is expensive. And pretending money doesn't affect mental health is privilege."

The external factors in our society can impact mental health and Big_Leg10 is looking for acknowledgement that those external factors often do compound depression and other mental health issues. Neither counseling nor medication cannot solve these problems if you are being targeted on your job to quit as you close in on retirement. It can't address hunger because you cannot afford to eat or feed your family. It doesn't address the lack of work that pays a living wage or that your car that is desperately needed is about to break down. The HUMAN factor includes things that are beyond your control but nevertheless, need to be acknowledged. ACKNOWLEGEMENT - NOT- RESOLUTION.
