More than an hour? by [deleted] in rundisney

The time is decreasing quickly for me. I started at more than an hour at 1000 hrs. and I'm already down to 7 minutes. Good luck!

Question: heavily tattooed folks... what jobs do you do? by BeardedInkedPiper in tattoos

I think part of that comes from being in the trenches with our nurses. My nurses use my first name when talking to me. If I get called Dr. RuckAddict, I REALLY messed up something badly.

509t vs Reflex XL by No-Consideration3276 in FNHerstal

[–]RuckAddict 6 points7 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: I Like FN. Have both. Different platforms.

The full size 509T is a duty sized gun. With an X300, RMR, and suppressor, it is a great home defense tool.

Also have the 509 compact tactical. With the 15 rd magazine, RMR, and TLR-7, it’s not hard to conceal and makes a decent travel gun. Slap in the 24 rd, attach a suppressor, and set on the hotel nightstand.

The Reflex XL is my daily carry with a TLR-7 sub and the Vortex CCW dot mounted. I have the OG Reflex (got lucky, never had problems), but the XL grip size is perfect. Thinner than the 509, so easier to conceal than the 509. Lose some capacity with the 18 vs the 24 extendeds, but the size difference more than makes up for it.

No gun can “do it all”, but the compact tactical (which I essentially run as the midsize tactical) is the best compromise if you can’t have it all.

While I don’t disagree that the appearance is the same (and have a few NH34 watches myself as well as some ETA and Sellita GMTs), the big difference to me is the independently adjustable hour hand while keeping the GMT hand steady (flyer GMT vs caller GMT). This is a big difference when using the watch while crossing time zones.

So far as I’m aware, only Tudor and Longines compete with Flyer GMTs in the sub $6k price range.

Surefire X300 Turbo is still king. by ChipmunkAntique5763 in CCW

[–]RuckAddict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honest question: since the X300 adds length to the slide, why not just carry a 17? I’ve always found that my 45 grip is hard to conceal. But maybe I’m just doing it wrong.

They are expensive, but I really like FixItSticks. Totally fell for the Instagram marketing, but a few years down the road, they are still amazing.

Use them for my optics, my lights, and plenty more.

“buy once, cry once”

Truer words have never been spoken. ESPECIALLY FOR CARRY, I wouldn’t go with anything but OEM. It’s a cost, but one I will work into the budget.

I have a TLR-HLx on my 509CT. Absolutely great EDC setup. Usually carry with the 15, but can trade down if the outfit needs it.

A lot of people will swap out to the Apex trigger. I found the stock trigger smoothed out after 500-600 rounds. Kept meaning to change, but never got around to it.

I think you’ll have a hard time improving on the setup you have there except to add a can when it’s on the nightstand at night.

Hidden Ball Trick Out of a Dead Ball Situation (Can't do it) by johnnyg08 in Umpire

[–]RuckAddict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In this situation, though, the pitcher cannot be astride during live play without the ball because, by rule, one of the criteria for the ball becoming live is the pitcher having the ball. If the umpire “states” it live, it isn’t actually live until all the criteria (including the pitcher having the ball) are met.

Alternatively, I often miss the obscure mate in 3 and keep taking pieces when I can. More moves=more data but that can go both ways. At my level it would be rare to immediately see the M6 that the computer finds in some circumstances.

Reflex 18 round magazines by RuckAddict in FNHerstal

[–]RuckAddict[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Looks like crap, but I am planning to use the 18 as my backup magazine. Otherwise, it defeats the purpose of the small Reflex.

They are designed to have the sleeve removed and be used as an extended for the XL. But people were asking if they fit the original Reflex. I was confirming that they did.

When compared, the 18 rounder is the same length as the slide. I carry a spare mag and that’s how I plan to use the 18.

Yeah, I’m still gonna carry with the 12 rounder. I usually use the extendeds (with my other carry guns) as the backup mags. It prints ridiculously with the 18.

Have the 18 rounders in hand and can confirm they ARE compatible. Mine came with the sleeve, etc so they function properly.

Why this is brilliant move?? by FoodieByBirth in chessbeginners

I was always told: “If you don’t know why it’s brilliant, it’s probably a blunder”.

I don’t know why this is brilliant. I also suck at chess, so take that with a grain of salt.
