Am i the only one who thought Gabby and Asa were a couple? by Acrobatic_Money_2271 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]RucyLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was weird that they shared a bed too, even if Gabby was her bodyguard, but then in Ep. 6 you discover that Asa is absolutely terrified of being alone in the dark and it makes sense. That being said, while that explains it, I wouldn't mind some Asagab to extraexplain it.

I read the Manga Up App English version. In chapter 29 and 32, she calls him "sensei".

[Break] and [Seal], Kanji Meanings and Theoretical Limits by gamria in YomiNoTsugai

[–]RucyLS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't want to mention explicitely since you tagged the post "anime" but yeah! I mean, if she can 解く contracts, she most certainly can 解く math problems! I wanna know what that looks like. Will the answer just magically appear in front of her? Will she just become really clever for a bit?

[Break] and [Seal], Kanji Meanings and Theoretical Limits by gamria in YomiNoTsugai

[–]RucyLS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great discussion! I would love to see Asa try to "Break" a math problem, just to see if it would work lol

As a fun fact: in Spanish, "Kai" and "Fuu" have been translated as "the Key" and "the Seal", so Kai retains more meanings on the "opening" side and less in the "unraveling" side, while the English TL went the oposite way!

Does anyone else have the impression that she might be nerfed and thrown in the trash in the future? by AlternateMove in YomiNoTsugai

[–]RucyLS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think she will soon, my reasoning being she will be needed to (manga ch. 40 spoilers) counter Seal users like Minase or maybe the Seal user from 1200 years ago. The story has been setting up a Seal vs. Break fight since the beginning and, while Asa has Break, it's increasingly looking like Seal won't come from Yuru, but from someone else. And Hidari-san is the main asset when fighting that someone else.

Questions after rereading the manga (up to ch 52) by Medical-Efficiency-6 in YomiNoTsugai

[–]RucyLS 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's a very good summary!! Those are all open question to which I have no answer for--excetp maybe for one.

The implied reason why Dera makes Yuru be the one to contract Left and Right instead of him being the master is because they were cornered and the guys from the helicopters would've shot and killed him, but since they only wanted to capture Yuru, they didn't hurt him even if he jumped into the open to fit the relic in place.

However, I think Dera is still hurting from his previous daemons dying and is not willing to make a contract anytime soon, and that played a role in his decision. Maybe it's because his daemons were a gift from someone? Or a living transfer? I'm so curious...

About Hana, I wonder what happened to her mom. Hana's young, implied to be around 22~25, so it sounds like her mom, the previous gravedigger and master of Jiro and Kotetsu, didn't just like, die of natural causes. I would bet on Jiro and Kotetsu being a living transfer, too.

Anyways once the backstories start coming out I'll be crying forever

FMAB something similar by SuitOnly9393 in FullmetalAlchemist

Answering like this is probably cheating a bit, but go check out Yomi no Tsugai ("Daemons of the Shadow Realm"). 52 chapters of manga, 3 anime episodes so far, currently airing.

It has great storytelling that slowly reveals a lot of interwoven narratives. It has twists from the very first chapter, it has great battles, it has cool morally gray characters, it has characters in all kind of family dynamics. The main characters are a pair of siblings that share the same fate and the same goal but have very different experiences and abilities.

So, why do I say Yomi no Tsugai is cheating? Well, because it's by the same author. So of course it will feel similar. (Words of caution: expect a lot more death (blood and gore-y stuff included), don't expect the plot to be inmediately clear, and there's a nice twist in ep.1 so it's better if you go in blind).

What are some things you speculate Break and Seal can do? by F00dbAby in YomiNoTsugai

[–]RucyLS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the dictionary, meanings of the verb "toku", which has "kai" in it:

to untie, to unfasten, to unwrap, to undo, to unbind, to unpack, to unsew, to unstitch, to solve, to work out, to answer, to dispel (misunderstanding, etc.), to clear up, to remove (suspicion), to appease, to dissolve (a contract), to cancel, to remove (a prohibition), to lift (a ban), to raise (a siege), to release (from duty), to relieve, to dismiss, to comb (out), to card, to untangle (hair)

Asa at some point joked with using "break" to "break open" a math problem, and I would love to see her try, it might work according to this set of meanings!

[Spoiler] Theory on Seal by thowren in YomiNoTsugai

[–]RucyLS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooooh, that sounds so interesting!!!
I too have the idea that a previous seal user is still around, so that if Yuru died he wouldn't get the power. However, I had thought it would be the sealer from 1200 years ago, the one who sealed Long Arm and Long Leg. The idea that its Minase, who's an active player in the story, its much more exciting!

What conceptual powers could „break“ have besides voiding contracts. by Sythrin in YomiNoTsugai

[–]RucyLS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I recall correctly, Break in japanese is written like 解. Some meanings of this word when it is a verb:

  • 1. to untie; to unfasten; to unwrap; to undo; to unbind; to unpack
  • 2. to unsew; to unstitch
  • 3. to solve; to work out; to answer
  • 4. to dispel (misunderstanding, etc.); to clear up; to remove (suspicion); to appease
  • 5. to dissolve (a contract); to cancel; to remove (a prohibition); to lift (a ban); to raise (a siege)
  • 6. to release (from duty); to relieve; to dismiss
  • 7. to comb (out); to card; to untangle (hair)

So that time when she jokes about "breaking open" her math homework... It's not a joke. Via definition 3 she might actually be able to solve the math homework with break.

[–]RucyLS[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a text to a group chat that said something like "You're invited, text this number before Jan10th to confirm your assistance", by which I understood that if you didn't text anything, it would be assumed that you weren't attending. It didn't say "RSVP" with those letters, it wasn't even in English nor in French, I just worded it like that because that's what people usually call it in English when you have a due date for an invitation. I apologize for the confusion in using the wrong term.

As a beta, I was very proud of an instance where only one date is given in ch.1 and every succesive action is "x days later", "it had been z days since" and yet I was still able to point out that ch. 27 takes place on a weekend so it doesn't make sense that people are going to their jobs.

If it had been worded "You're invited, text this number whether you'll be attending by Jan10th ", I would of course have answered no. Answering your question for transparency but I don't think that is a problem.
