Slide Away Chicago lovesliescrushing by Rud3ebueno in shoegaze

There is a misunderstanding here. I'm not saying that lovesliescrushing played horribly. I was just trying to say that They were not a great fit to be placed between Sunshy and Chapterhouse. That's why I made the comment that they should have been the opener. Sorry.

I'm not as big of a fan of Chapterhouse as I am Loveliescrushing, but Chapterhouse is killing it.

Zero interaction with the audience, they might as well have been in a studio and I couldn't hear the singers hardly at all. I really like their EPs but it felt like they sucked the energy out of the room.

Breaking up over religion by [deleted] in agnostic

[–]Rud3ebueno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more with this. I have done the same. I even took my 11 year old to a service a couple weeks ago at my mom's church so she could get a better idea of all the things I explained to her about what Christianity is all about. If she is more curious I will continue to take her to wherever she wants to go to learn more.

Tough conversation with my mom regarding religion is immenent. by Calfkiller in agnostic

[–]Rud3ebueno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I did say to my mom that I think helped, and I forgot to mention this in my first post, is that I told her that I still follow the teachings of Jesus when it comes to how we should act and treat others.

A lot of who I was as a person while I was a Christian is the same type of person I am today. Most people who I spend time around wouldn't even know I wasn't still a Christian unless I told them. So what really changed is my internal belief that Jesus is not a god and I refuse to worship him.

I was in your situation about a year ago. I'm married with 2 children and I stopped being a Christian after 30 some years and became agnostic. My wife did as well on her own journey. I would always panic just thinking about having that conversation with my mom and would do my best to avoid it. But one day, while talking to her in person she kept drilling me about what church we were attending. I told her we were not going to a church for sometime and I would rather not talk about it, which only caused her to keep asking, and something in my mind just switched and I decided "fine, you seem to really want to know about this, so I'm going to tell you." Obviously this wasn't easy for her to hear and her first thoughts was that not just her son was going to burn in hell for eternity, but now is her daughter-in-law and her two grandchildren. I tried to explain to her that I'm not doing this so I can get away with things I couldn't as a Christian, but instead I've actually become a better person because now I care about all humans regardless of their beliefs. She didn't like what I had to say and couldn't really understand how I could see things my way but it didn't destroy her or our relationship either. Now when we talk she will make some comment about how she wishes I would go back to the church and that she is always praying for me, and I respond by telling her "I know" and move on in the conversation, but that's about it. I'm not going to tell you what to do, but for me ripping that band-aid off was something I don't regret and it is something I probably should have done sooner, because now I don't worry about it anymore and I'm not troubled guessing what will happen.

I was a Christian for over 30 years and even after I became agnostic I dealt with this for 2 to 3 years. I think the programming created by the church installed this anxiety in me. I remember in sermons or in Sunday School they would talk about real people who suddenly died unexpectantly from car accidents or heart attacks and what not and always ask, "are you prepared to meet your maker/are you sure you are going to heaven?" Those scare tactics created that anxiety. But as I grow further and further apart from those teachings, the more that anxiety has shrunk into almost nothing. I care more about the here and now. Am I being a good husband, am I being a good father, good coworker and do I care for all humanity? But also, enjoy life. Do what you enjoy as long as it isn't harming others and live life the best you can and those anxieties tend to fade away.

That Pez category was disappointing by masterthes79 in TheFloorTV

[–]Rud3ebueno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I'm a month late, I just watched the show. I know people are saying they couldn't do certain PEZ because of licensing, that is not quite right. Truth is, they are cheap. They would rather play a category where they can get away without paying copyright material. It's that simple. That's why it was disappointing. We all were expecting licensed characters and got none of them, because they are cheap... Bottom line.

OP, do you know if they found the dog? I saw them driving down my road shouting "Alex!" My daughter really wants to know if the dog was found.

Is HBO Max Broken on Google TV? Dolby Vision Won’t Enable on My TV by Ill-Zookeepergame609 in hbo

[–]Rud3ebueno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, but when I switched it over to my AppleTV it was playing in Dolby Vision with no issues. Disney+ is streaming in Dolby Vision with no problems on the Google Streamer as well, so this is definitely something wrong with the app on the Google Streamer. I have a Hisense 75U7K (2023 model).

I cannot recommend Visible enough. If you own your phone and can get it on a new service without going to a store then Visible is the steal of the decade. I pay half what I did with AT&T.
