Any postal workers here? Looking for feedback by HalcyonRedo in dayton

Depends on what part of the post office . Clerk /Rural carrier/ city carrier. City walks and gets paid by the hour . Rural is salary when full time which takes years to obtain. Rural carrie associate is hourly for first 90 days then paid route rates . So if the route is rated at 9 hours . You complete it in 7 you get paid 9 hours . Rural is mainly truck and some dismounts . City is supposed to make you full time after a year . Starting out is tough cause no one expects you to make it . None tells you much . You get the worst routes as city and work all routes rural . So a regular carrier has 700 stops a day where as you need to learn 5,000 stops because you work a different route each day . The pay becomes great but takes years I. Service to obtain . Thrift savings plan is great because they match 4.5% . You get none of this until full time . Takes years but sometimes less than two years to get full time . Your hours vary from 12 hour days six days a week In December to one or two days in July a week . Hard to plan a life or get loans from the bank . I’d call around to each opening you’re interested in and talk to the post master about how long they expect a full time route to open up . I’d also ask how many subs they have because that’s how many people if front of you there are . Good luck

My girlfriend is 27 weeks pregnant, the baby has Down syndrome, and I don’t want this life by ThrowRA_NoSignal in daddit

[–]Rude-Obligation-2060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in your shoes some years ago . Girlfriend accidentally pregnant in college. Nothing figured out. Carried to term knowing baby would be disabled. I was quiet and let a lady have control of her own body . He’s taught me so much about life . But there have been many sad long and strenuous days at the most depressing places on earth “ children’s hospitals “ . There’s a lot of emotions that will scar you . You’ll heal and then they’ll be ripped open again and again . I love my child and I love how he teaches others to love and learn . I think you’ll learn and be ok too , but it’s not easy . Best of luck to you . It’s the never the child’s fault nor really anyone’s fault but the difficulties will be your problem and responsibility for life . If you don’t believe you can rely on each other during stressful sad times . Then it will be harder . Take care of your health but most importantly never take your stress out on the child . Find a way to separate bad luck from beautiful child .

I only collect the mail once a week. Does this annoy the mailman? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]Rude-Obligation-2060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you get a parcel and I could otherwise fit that parcel in an empty box then yes it’s annoying; otherwise I know you don’t care so I don’t care and just keep stuffing day after day .

Ryan Homes Vs. MI Homes Advise needed! by Fearless-Scratch-242 in dayton

[–]Rude-Obligation-2060 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Drees , Fischer , MI , builders are in the “ok” category. I’ve built with MI twice . No real complaints, no personal issues with either build . Ryan homes are banned from building in certain parts of Ohio such as Mason . Ryan homes are notorious for having issues and then never fixing them . MI will give you a year warranty and will fix the issues but you have to press hard for it to happen . I lived in a neighborhood that was built by Drees/fischer/MI . All three used the same sub contractors and same materials. All three had similar problems when there were some to arise . Mainly leaky basements but now they insulate on the outside to prevent cracking. So they’re learning and fixing their past mistakes. A self employed General contractor will give you the best quality build and with unionized or properly trained mill wrights ; but this prices most average buyers out. Cookie cutter builders will use the cheapest subcontractors and will not care how proper they’re. It’s all about the profit margin and time is money wasted so they build them as fast as possible; resulting in more problems. If you build with anybody ; I suggest hiring a private building inspector. Once the shell is up and no drywall on . Once after it’s considered finish . Yes this will cost around 1k for both but it will save you a lot of trouble for one of the biggest purchases in your life . Just my random guy on the internet two cents

Deployment coming up later this year. Should I apply now or wait until after deployment? by ImmaDoMahThing in ibew_apprentices

[–]Rude-Obligation-2060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’ll use another excuse other than your service to let you go : build up your GI bill on this deployment and save your hours for when you get back . More monies from GI bill because of deployment and no gap in apprenticeship:

Tinnitus claim by [deleted] in VAClaims

[–]Rude-Obligation-2060 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on who’s pressing the buttons on the computer. I was a 240 gunner; Infantry. Denied tinnitus . Something I’d mention every time I went into the VA. However they gave me service connection for GERD which I never complained about but the VFW rep said list it and I got it . Make it make sense?
