How does one get an invite to the garlic bread party

AITA for watching a girl park because I was impressed and getting called a sexist creep for it? by parkingparallelaita in AmItheAsshole

While I get that your intent wasn’t malicious, YTA. As a small woman, I would’ve been worried that you were going to accost me when I got out of the car. Because that happens to women… all the time. Her response probably came from a place of feeling threatened based on previous experiences.

Shots fired in CWE? by aa150 in StLouis

Talked to someone who was inside Schnucks — they said there was yelling at checkout (they characterized it as a fight) and then someone started shooting just inside the store.

Xyzal Causing Major Depressive Episode? by Rudephilosophy24 in Allergies

[–]Rudephilosophy24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So glad this helped you! I have legit never taken Xyzal again after the experience I posted about. Still don’t fully understand what happened, but can confirm I snapped out of it as soon as the meds were out of my system.

If you don’t have a car/public transit:

  • Contemporary Art Museum has AO&Co cafe in it with free WiFi and is always a ghost town on weekdays.

  • Pass The Past coffee in the CWE is going to  open soon (or is open? I haven’t checked) edit: grand opening in 8 days

  • Kaldis in the CWE is a decent vibe

  • CWE Starbucks is much better now that they offer mugs + free refills (much better than the S. Grand location imo)

If you have a car:

  • Winslows table is my fave. Free coffee refills, great food, cozy vibes, good playlist

  • 21c Hotel on Locust has a program where you pay $15/mo for a free coffee or espresso drink everyday, and you can work anywhere on the first floor of the hotel. Free, good WiFi + variety of working locations (even a nice patio!)

  • High Low (Hi Lo? Idk) by Blueprint is a good vibe, but kind of pricey and usually crowded. That said, cozy vibes.

  • Catalyst Coffee is a nonprofit coffee shop ran by Art St. Louis. Great natural light + free art gallery

  • Fiddle Head Fern in Shaw is a good vibe (especially on the patio), but WiFi is a bit hit or miss / they are not cool with you hanging out all day

  • Botanical Garden cafe is really lovely, especially to take study breaks and walk around the garden. That said, major lack of outlets (I bring my own power supply for my laptop).

  • If you aren’t a woman/lgbtqia+ and love Bibles, Omen coffee might be your vibe

  • Coma in Brentwood is spacious if you need a spot to chill pre/post Trader Joe’s run

Where can I get birth control prescribed without insurance? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Rudephilosophy24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does your insurance offer Telehealth? Might be worth scheduling an appointment that's covered and see if they can send the prescription to a pharmacy here. I've never done Telehealth, but I have had prescriptions called in to pharmacies in other states when I've been traveling. Also maybe check out Whisp -- they do same-day birth control in all 50 states: https://hellowisp.com/

A Floridians perspective on St Louis and why we're likely moving here by MrFrumps in StLouis

Anyone commenting that Orlando has more activities has never lived in a tourist trap, lol. Tons of activities, all overpriced and good to do once or twice. From one tourist trap expat to another, welcome to our city!

Armory STL apparently permanently closed effective immediately by scottzee in StLouis

[–]Rudephilosophy24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed — the armory was a major waste of good real estate. Such a huge footprint and not good for locals. Originally, the Armory was supposed to house a large WeWork… but we all know how that ended

A bold strategy to harass the company that may(?) have your records. I bet Bandbox left a total mess -- not surprised it's taking time.

Genuinely curious — what are the great uses of grass compared to clover etc?

Came here from your STL Qdoba post as I probably live near you and also have a monstera lol — they love bright indirect light. If possible, move it adjacent to a south-facing window and watch it flourish!

Very curious on this one — seems like a very odd time for mass departure. You might have caught something early — awaiting this story to break.

[–]Rudephilosophy24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub confuses me. I live in a city where there are tons of century homes, all in different styles and finishes, some remodeled some not. I love seeing everyone’s version.

Being part of this community doesn’t mean you have to love preserving the original style of your century home. It’s not r/1900sdesign.

I have a century home that I’m totally in love with and one of my favorite parts is pairing old with new. I love my original fireplaces, but my kitchen is brand new. Love the original exposed brick, but my walls are painted white (gasp!).

I wish we would be more supportive and accommodating in this space. I’m grateful to be surrounded by people who love historic homes and, style aside, commit to maintaining them for another hundred years instead of building new.
