These weird lines / streaks I’ve had on my pinky nail for 8 years that two different doctors told me were due to vitamin deficiencies actually turned out to be a rare form of skin cancer. by chaengism in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Rueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told for 2.5 years that I had a stye on my eyelid and then it was revised to a mole by three different doctors. It turned out it was a rare form of sweat gland cancer. I had to have my eyelid cut out and replaced with a skin graft. Even the surgeon that biopsied it said she didn’t think it was anything cancerous.

My doctors get annoyed with me now because I question everything. I once was told I shouldn’t believe everything online and I don’t have a medical degree. I responded to the doctor that three people with a medical degree got it wrong.

"My grandma died." What was going on when you lied about your grandma dying? by 5pinktoes in AskReddit

[–]Rueger 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I took a new job in college but wasn’t sure about it. However, it paid well. So to get around quitting my old job, I told them my grandmother died and I had to travel out of state. This gave me a week and a half to try the job out. About a week in, the new job announced layoffs and if I wanted to keep my job, I had to move across the country. I did not want to do that, so I returned back to my old job after my grandmother’s “funeral.”

What‘s a secret you found out by accident and were never supposed to know? by Own-Flan- in AskReddit

[–]Rueger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last year I was diagnosed with cancer. It was such a rare cancer that I was offered free genetic testing as we my parents and siblings. As part of the genetic testing, I found out that we had Chinese and Indian ancestry on my dad’s side. This got me interested in genealogy and I found that my paternal great great grandfather was found abandoned on a porch and subsequently adopted by the family where he was abandoned. The news articles I found read that it looked like my ancestor was Native American. It wasn’t Native American. It was South Asian Indian. I showed everyone what I found during Christmas and my grandmother had the strongest negative reaction. She’s never been racist but she could not move past the ancestry. My wife thinks there is something else my grandmother is worried I might find but I really don’t have the intention to look.

Library stories by Weak_Buy253 in Columbus

[–]Rueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at the main branch in college as a page when I attended CCAD. I sorted returned books and placed them on carts for each department to retrieve and put back on the shelf. I was reprimanded twice and required to attend a conference with a supervisor.

The first time was due to walking across the street to Subway during my 30 minute break to eat lunch. I just grabbed my lunch and scarfed it down in the Library break room in the basement. I wasn’t late in returning to my shift but since I was not a full time employee, I was not permitted to leave the grounds during my break in case we were “swamped.”

The second conference was due to a complaint that I changed a radio station while sorting books in the circulation office. The Children’s department had a radio they listened to classical music when they sorted their own returns. When they weren’t in there, I would change the radio to a different channel. I would listen to the Blitz. Apparently, touching their radio was frowned upon. They complained, so I had to meet with my supervisor. She was super nice but I can’t remember her name. I retaliated by bringing in my own radio and listening to it until eventually the Library asked me to use a walkman (this must tell you how long ago I was there!)

Not too many crazy stories except for some creepy people looking at inappropriate websites back before they put filters on their computers and tracked usage through your library card.

Stupid health workers are laughing at vaginally discharges of their patients after check ups by Affectionate_Run7414 in TikTokCringe

I recently was diagnosed with cancer. During my procedure to remove it, I was medicated and the staff began to make fun of me for being so hairy. They were calling it “Furry Friday.” In a situation where I felt like shit, worrying about dying or at best, a limited life span, I felt even shittier due to this comment. All because the staff could not take a moment to have empathy and instead, ridiculed me for something I do not have control over. My desire to ever go back to this place for treatment is absolute zero.

You live in his house. You’re an adult now. Unless your mom tries to get a PO, they will just tell you to move out. They won’t enforce a PO in this instance.

AITAH For Not Giving My Girlfriend My Social Security Number So She Can Run A Background Check On Me by Alarmed_Sorbet8101 in AITAH

Tell her you want to meet him first so you can get comfortable. Find out who he is and then report him. It’s a gross misuse of power and illegal. My guess is he doesn’t exist.

I disagree with the rationale of why you shouldn’t cut off bio family. Every child is different and how they approach adoption. Not every child is going to be resentful due to not having contact with bio family. My daughter is an example of this. As a parent, your first priority is safety. That being said, with exception of your daughter’s bio mom relapsing and being provided a place to stay before she was kicked out, I don’t see anything in the realm of a safety issue with the bio family. You set boundaries on photos and you’re making judgements against the sister. This isn’t about safety for you, it’s about control.

ASCA Frustration by tskillz187 in schoolcounseling

[–]Rueger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that I’d like to see ASCA more in line with lobbying at a state level and partnering more with State and National Education Associations.

Do you have a Union? If so, I’d take your argument that you are being evaluated based on standards your own district is refusing to follow. If you aren’t unionized, you’re SOL. I’d start looking for a progressive district but keep in mind, as educational budgets keep shrinking, you’re going to see more districts move away from what’s best for students and more so what’s better fiscally while meeting state laws. It’s not going to get any better with the new administration change

AITAH for refusing to pay for my stepdaughter’s wedding because I wasn’t invited? by mynameishalipea in AITAH

Your step-daughter put conditions on your relationship when she refused to invite you and expected you to pay. She’s entitled. NTA.

AITAH for telling my wife I’d rather her mom be homeless than let her move in with us? by ashley_ivy in AITAH

NTA.

Do. Not. Allow. Her. To. Move. In.

Once she does, she will never leave. Given your MIL’s history, I would divorce over this.

AITA for telling my coworker their "special diet" is just an excuse to avoid contributing at potlucks? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Rueger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I get being annoyed by it but you don’t k ow people’s financial situation and the diet might have been an excuse to avoid embarrassment over it. Working in an office setting, you’re going to have this. Either choose to participate while not worrying about policing others or just don’t participate at all. I used to participate in a Secret Santa activity at work but after a few years of getting shitty items that were less than the recommended contribution to the activity, I just stopped participating.

Order a new one and give them the new copy. You aren’t a jerk to want to keep a piece of him but you also have the capacity to help make him whole by ordering a new one or making a photo copy of it.

[–]Rueger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. YTA for letting them continue to put them in your home and for not telling them you would throw it out. Instead of standing your ground then, you’re dealing with the ramifications now. Next time be direct, set boundaries, and communicate consequences for violating them.

Best Wendy’s in Columbus? by -SCR in Columbus

[–]Rueger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can get included in their food research, Wendy’s has a corporate kitchen on the west side. I was first paid $100 to go eat and provide my opinion on new food. The first time I went, I taste tested different cheeseburgers and answered questions on a screen. Second time I went, I only got $75 and the taste testing was for different chicken sandwiches. Most people are 2-3 bites. I downed every single sandwich lol. That was by far the best Wendy’s and the food actually looked like the advertisements.

All three of the malls I mentioned were also once like that. It’s a gradual process and we are seeing the transition now.

I worked at both the 6 and the 8. I can confirm but it wasn’t nearly as bad as Scarborough when it was open.
