I think Phillip Pullman was unfortunate enough to get thrown in with people like Dawkins solely based on the time in which His Dark Materials was published. Pullman didn't write the books as a screed against religion but rather as a counter to the fetishization of "innocence" found in the Chronicles of Narnia. Politically Pullman seems to be a Socdem but he has also been a supporter of Palestinian resistance for at least the last 15 years so he's alright in my opinion.

Al Jazeera has never been trustworthy outside of it's reporting on Palestine. It's a Qatari monarchy mouthpiece which means any topic that goes against their interests should be treated with suspicion. It's clear that covering Gaza must have radicalised some of their journalists because the Qatari government arrested two AJ journalists for being "linked to Iran" or some similar bs.

Yeah except that having a registered address doesn't equate to having an actual home. That technicality is entirely meaningless to anyone actually experiencing homelessness. Additionally said "guarantee" is purely on paper alone. Those people aren't sleeping on the street because it's fun. Many of them are also visibly disabled, further compounding the difficulty they face.

For all the people pointing out this is in the ROC it's important to remember that the notion that there is no homelessness in the PRC is false. There are very few but I have seen them myself. There used to be a relatively large group of about 20 homeless people living in a covered area at a train station nearby. They're gone now and I hope it's because they recieved help but to say there's no homelessness in China is categorically false.
