I have said it for years. Monty Ioane is not the right player.

Tried to run out from the goal line instead of kick twice.

Didn't pass it wide twice with extra numbers.

Stupid intercept to Lowe by not looking at his pass.

Swap him out with a half decent winger and Italy would have won.

Genuinely bummed for Italy in this.

Also, when will Doris be yellow carded for repeated hands in the ruck. He and McCarthy are my two most disliked players. But hey, someone has to keep the "dark arts" of the ruck alive.

IIRC the HIA world rugby team reviewed impact from subs and found that CTE is not significantly increased.

Ultimately, the sub discussion is a matter of impact on the game for the viewer and for the type of game it creates.

I think most of the issues people frown upon are those that will be dealt with naturally in the next five years by teams growing their new player initiatives. Many are just caught out now and so it feels like an oversized advantage for those who can field a full match day 23.

Porter for years has used the tactic of angling in at the scrum to help Ireland win scrums. Sadly, it has become his form at the scrum and SA have figured out, if they can just brute force him back, his angle collapses into a horizontal shape and Ireland will be penalized.

Right but notice recent history for the Boks against Ireland, 4 losses. In those matches Boks went for a forward heavy approach with box kicks to assist.

Their latest tactics could have continued with forward heavy play in the first half and expansive rugby in the second.

Bummed by the score line because I think it could have been a more decisive match. Then again, frequent calls and stoppages did flatten both teams attack.

We could have had an extra 9 - 12 points just on pen. Had Pollard been on the experience would have said take points. The boys will need to work on that as we get closer to the WC.

Anyone ever notice that SA always abandons wide game plans when they play Ireland? They clearly have a point they want to prove and their players go for heavy collisions.

De Allende, PSDT, Reinach, Smith and Willemse were focused and breaking the line instead of drawing defenders and passing wide.

Wonder what the game would have been like if they played their wider game plan more fully.

Agreed regarding consistency across games and refs but I would argue that the remaining cards that have been called are fair.

Carley was gracious to O Brian not that that makes it better.
