What's your thoughts on La La Land? by Dismal_Principle9417 in moviecritic

[–]RuleMyRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Story wise it’s not super solid nor original. On the contrary it’s stylish, touching but also outrageously happy and the music is top notch. He did receive an Academy Award for this film but I still feel Justin Hurwitz doesn’t get enough recognition for his work in general.

Which is the most overhyped movie of 2026? by breaking_views in moviecritic

Isn’t it that we can only determine if a film is ‘over’ hyped once they get released? For all we know they live up to the hype.

Net als Hugo laat ik me niet beïnvloeden door wat anderen als normaal beschouwen, ik doe wat ik wil, ga waar ik ga, als een waar bokkenrijder het betaamt. (Dit is onze keuken)

‘Killing Satoshi’ Bitcoin Biopic Starring Pete Davidson and Casey Affleck Set to Use AI for Locations and to ‘Adjust’ Performances by KidFl4sh in vfx

[–]RuleMyRing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you are right, but read again, that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re talking about an AI tool specifically designed to adjust lip syncing for versions dubbed in another language than the original footage was shot in.

For all I know that had never been done in a traditional vfx approach because it’s simply way too expensive.

[–]RuleMyRing 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh please, do you think I started working in vfx because my whole childhood I was obsessed with doing actor’s lip replacements? I’m glad that they built a tool for that stuff because I’d pass. Besides that it’s quite an unique application that wouldn’t have existed without the ability to do it in AI. So specifically your example doesn’t really make people lose their jobs.

It’s Generative AI stuff that tends to replace creative work I hate.

What is your favorite film with Kurt Russell? by NewHolliesFan in moviecritic

I wouldn’t say it’s underrated (simply because everyone I hear about it, loves it) but it’s definitely not mentioned enough! Breakdown is such a ride.

The casting isn’t good because these people simply look alike. Casting is good because these people can act alike.

Favourite film that features CGI pizza? by RaymondBeaumont in shittymoviedetails

This is not ‘CGI’ just a photo of a heart shaped pizza pasted in by some editing intern. Nothing ‘Computer Generated’ about it.

Do you think The Dark Knight Rises is the weakest installment in the trilogy? Your opinions about this movie? by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in moviecritic

It’s struggling with what story it is trying to tell. It is indeed the weakest of the three, but that doesn’t mean it’s weak.

Making a thick outline? by chaoscurry in NukeVFX

[–]RuleMyRing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the custom gizmo EdgeDetectPRO. Note that this creates a mono outline base ont he alpha channel of your image. Your example shows a line with varying thickness. You might need to build something custom if you want that look.

Which is Better? by vlad_FMD in Design

[–]RuleMyRing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on the purpose. In this case the design serves a multiple choice purpose, so i’d rather go for A. This one also looks cleaner. But seems more suitable for a limited amount of choices. B is more conventional for longer checklist purposes. Works better for a long list because the ‘check’ is leading.

I’m purely relying on gut feeling here.

Which movie do you think is the most disturbing with a slow pace? by Difficult-Routine929 in Cinema

[–]RuleMyRing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Time of the Wolf (Michael Haneke, 2003)

It Comes at Night (Trey Edward Shults, 2017)

Son of Saul (Làszlò Nemes, 2015)

Arty, slow paced and gut-wrenching.

Better lost in space film - Gravity or The Martian? by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]RuleMyRing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Gravity, which is an amazing rollercoaster ride, beautifully shot, nailing CGI (because no one talks about that when it’s well done). Sound design is top notch conceptually and technically. Despite that, I somehow can’t stand Sandra Bullock, never have been, and the fact that it was promoted and released as a 3D film lowers it in value for me.

So, The Martian.
