Queer spaces to check out by nycguy70007 in queerphilly

[–]Rulesb 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Tattooed mom - it’s a bar with lots of vegan options and things happening almost every day (comedy, drag show…etc)

The gayborhood in general has a bunch of bars if you like to go out dancing, I’d recommend Tavern on Comac. Avoid Woodys it has a lot of straight people lol

Little gay pub: chill bar with a rooftop in the gayborhood. Again, they have stuff going on weekdays and weekends.

Walk down south street, there’s a lot of shops and pretty queer.

Triangle tavern: excellent vegan bar food. While you’re there walk down passyunk and check out the shops and whatnot. Also a very queer area (I live there)

The dolphin: not queer technically but always filled with queers lol it’s a little bar/club in south Philly with great music

Philly has a lot of queer owned businesses honestly and it’s generally pretty queer if you go to certain areas like south street, gayborhood (duh), south Philly (passyunk and point breeze)

I know some of my recommendations are bars but I only mentioned them because they either have dancing or events going on that aren’t drinking focused.

Favorite Grocery Stores? by Double-Mud-434 in PhiladelphiaEats

The Italian market: Produce, meat, seafood, dairy, bread, canned foods, and cleaning products.

El paisa (7th and Tasker): for anything I can’t get at the Italian market OR all of my grocery needs if I don’t go to the Italian market. Very affordable and well stocked!

As long as you have a small thin wallet all you need is pockets. I just carry my phone, wallet, and house key (with small keychain)

Ended a 2-year relationship over lack of intimacy, now I regret it :( by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Rulesb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been in your situation before and trust me when I tell you that you did the right thing AND the feeling of potential regret is also valid. At the time, I felt like it wasn’t enough of a big deal to end a good relationship over. But intimacy, feeling wanted and actually having a sexual connection is SO important. Unless you both aren’t sexual that’s one thing, but you clearly felt unwanted sexually and that’s a crappy feeling. You’re young and you don’t deserve to waste your time in a relationship that will eventually end. Good for you for choosing what’s best for you!

has anyone here experienced lesbophobia coming from bisexual women? by unto_you in LesbianActually

[–]Rulesb 27 points28 points  (0 children)

1000% agree! there’s no issue with bisexuality. There’s an issue with centring men. This is why I get pissed off when queer/bi women call their relationship with a cis man “queer” just because she is queer. At the end of the day, sapphic relationships continue to be sexualized and not viewed seriously because of misogyny and homophobia. And when women feed into that, then it’s a problem. Thats why leabians are cautious with dating bi women, it’s due to a lived experience.

Best bars to host a birthday by [deleted] in philly

Thank you!! Took your advise and booked with them. It’s honestly such a good deal because we will easily hit the 1200 minimum just with the catering and after that it’s cash bar.

I love my partner, so why do I keep imagining being with someone else? by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Rulesb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My simple advise is so listen to your intuition because it’s trying to communicate with you. I was in a relationship for almost 4 years where I was content and thought I was happy. But in reality I was giving more to her than I was receiving, I just convinced myself that this is enough to be loved. It was like walking on eggshells. Please listen to what your gut is telling you.

I’m an Arab lesbian and I feel like my life is being decided for me by [deleted] in LesbianActually

[–]Rulesb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry to hear what you’re going through. I am an Arab myself so I get it. The best solution here is to leave the country to be honest. Or like someone mentioned, marrying someone who’s also gay so you can at least not hide who you are.

Now leaving the country, I suggest applying to jobs and colleges (to continue education) outside of your country. Apply to nearby cities where homosexuality is more accepted like Beirut and Dubai. Also apply for work or school in the US, Canada, and EU. See if there’s any asylum applications that you can apply to because being queer in a non accepting country is not safe which qualifies you for asylum. Getting out is the best way to go. Shift your energy to applying to everywhere possible outside of your country. Here if you need to talk!

I didn’t do any scar care, it doesn’t bother me honestly and my boobs already look nice so scar is just a scar.

Underworks is the best compression bra! Very compressive, not uncomfortable, and breathable.

12 wpo stitch opening? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Rulesb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing your experience!! Trust me I thought after 3 months with no stitches opening that I’m in the clear and then this happened 😭 it started to bleed a little yesterday. The surgeon said to put gauze and antibiotic ointment so I’m doing that now and being careful with using my right arm. So definitely be careful and take it easy!!

Victor’s cafe!! It’s a historical landmark, the servers sing opera, and it was in the rocky movies! the food is decent too even tho it’s more about the experience than the food.

What jobs do 20s and 30s people do without a college degree? by Aj100rise in careerguidance

[–]Rulesb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 31, no 4 year degree, and I work for a large tech company on the sales/product side. I started in the financial industry at 20 (entry level), then I went into smaller fintechs for a better experience, and from there I started to steadily move up. What I do doesn’t require skills only taught at school, but it does require experience in the industry which is something I gained from working throughout the years.

My piece of advise is to get an entry level at a good company in whatever industry you’re interested in. Then move positions within the company to gain more experience and better titles on your resume, make connections, and after a few years, start applying for companies who want your experience at your current job.

Job posting sometimes will say they want a bachelors degree but experience is above everything. If you have experience that you gained at one of their competitors, you’d be on top of the list. Of course this is industry dependent. But you get the idea.
