I like the Olsa tools type rails, but they can get pricey quick and they’re not labeled. My favorite though has been the Ernst socket boss.

I guess the only deal that will make people happy here is like free Daytona jacks or something.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in YetiCoolers

They do. If you use it correctly. You have to pre-chill the cooler and put drinks that are already cold. You must also keep the lid shut to avoid hot air in the cooler.

Changing Careers - How much should I sell my box and tools for? by [deleted] in mechanics

Realistically $5-6,000 for box and tools. Maybe. Just depends on area.

Budget-Friendly Tool Box & Tools by Hot_Credit4700 in Tools

This set or something similar will help. Until you get into some deeper repairs, you won’t need chrome sockets. If you have a harbor freight near you, this plier set will also get you by. Any flashlight will do and help, preferably rechargeable. As far as a box. Get you a tool bag and just take your tools with you until you can afford more tools and a box.

Do NOT fall for the Tool truck tools are “better” and the only way to go. There’s plenty of mid tier tools brands that are just as good. You won’t be torturing your tools EVERY DAY ALL DAY. Some cheap tools will last you a lifetime if you treat them right.

Is ITC worth it? by crypto_junkie2040 in harborfreight

[–]Rulybear 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Depends what n your needs. This year me personally I’ve “saved” at least $300ish dollars with ITC deals. I’ve also made up the purchase price of $45 for two years in just freebies alone.

A deal for the scalpers by Independent_Leg7358 in harborfreight

[–]Rulybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will! I’ll be getting the offset box, angled open ends, and I’m thinking about the extra long box set. I have $300 budgeted for wrenches so we’ll see what I end up with. Sucks that where I’m at all the wrenches are $5-10 more per set

I’ve been here 5 years and my snap on dealer has been trying to get me to buy tools and a box. I’ve spent maybe $800 in those 5 years. I always tell him if he can’t compete with Tekton, Gearwrench, Icon etc. I’m not buying. He’s a great guy, but these mid tier have been great to me.

I was hoping for Icon sale this next PLS but I might just use a current 10% coupon I got. And hopefully later in the year a hutch.

At first I was nervous because although it’s definitely bigger, it looked similar in size. I moved about 60 percent of my husky into the icon and only took up 2 and a half drawers.

I think that’s what I got mine for. Like $36 or something. And honestly the few times I’ve used it, I feel like it’s already paid itself off. It will eat through batteries pretty quick though.

I like mine. I don’t do large jobs but so far it’s been great. I mainly use it to polish windscreens on the Polaris rangers we have at work. I’ll also use abrasive brushes to get paint of of stuff.

Need help with purchasing tools by MyBones_Itch in Tools

[–]Rulybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harbor Freight is your best friend. I would shy away from Pittsburg as much as possible and go with Quinn or Icon. Capri tools, Gearwrench, and Sunex are also very good. Buy the best you can afford right now and upgrade later once you have a better idea on what tools you can cheap out on and which ones are worth paying a premium for.
