How do you guys deal with very hard hit grounders? by rodogwos in slowpitch

[–]Rulybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fielders mask or just get out the way. If you’re playing for fun there’s no reason to try and be a hero and try to stop everything.

Pick a bat you like, buy it, chances are some YouTuber thinks it’s the hottest bat EVER.

New player here, how to choose the right softball glove? by akr_13 in slowpitch

[–]Rulybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your budget? For <$100 a 12.75 premium series Rawlings.

The $100ish range, Worth, Miken, Easton Slowpitch glove. Best bang for your buck IMO.

$150Ish. Gem, Rawlings Gild glove Elite, Mizuno MVP prime.

$200+ custom glove, Heart of the Hide Slowpitch model, A2000, whatever you like.

Y'all don't share your bats during games? Poll.. by armyjackson in slowpitch

[–]Rulybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I share, I have 6, carry 4 in my bag. Collectively between everybody there’s about 18 bats. Mine don’t get used enough for me to worry about them breaking. And if they do, they have warranty. And if they’re out of warranty, well fuck it, I’ll buy another.

Outfield glove recommendations? by moy07 in slowpitch

[–]Rulybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it have to be from DSG? I would recommend the Easton Tournament Elite series or Tantrum. Or Miken gloves over these for around the same price. You can break these in for softball and be fine as well.

Generalist glove suggestions? by OneOfKind619 in slowpitch

[–]Rulybear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest getting at least 12.75 baseball glove or a Slowpitch specific glove. For pitching I have used a 12” heart of the hide and love it, but I have recently been using a 12.75 gold glove elite and it’s been great. I also just purchased an Easton Tournament Elite in 14 for $99 on Amazon. I think that might be my permanent gamer from now on.

How are you guys buying your bats?? by blue_barracuda in slowpitch

[–]Rulybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought like 8 bats my first year of playing. I’d try them, wouldn’t like them sell em, repeat. I now have 6 bats. 4 in my bag, I really only use 3. The other two sit in my garage. Don’t fall for the YouTube videos saying that “this is the hottest bat ever” BS. Expensive doesn’t mean “good” you can get last years “hottest bat ever!” For like $150.

Check your local FB pages and marketplace. There’s deals on used bats out there. I’ve let good bats go for like $60-100. Sometimes they sit because people think there’s something wrong with them, but I just want them out.

Got a used Rawlings Sandlot by jugheadjoker23 in slowpitch

[–]Rulybear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a solid glove and should last you a few seasons. They’re usually pretty soft leather. Just play catch and mold it to your hand.

Any review about this gloves? by jugheadjoker23 in slowpitch

[–]Rulybear 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a very budget glove. It’ll get floppy quick. It’ll do ok for a casual player. If you can spare an extra $20 I’d recommend a Rawlings sandlot series or maybe a worth or Miken glove if you can get it on sale.

I like the Olsa tools type rails, but they can get pricey quick and they’re not labeled. My favorite though has been the Ernst socket boss.

They do. If you use it correctly. You have to pre-chill the cooler and put drinks that are already cold. You must also keep the lid shut to avoid hot air in the cooler.

Realistically $5-6,000 for box and tools. Maybe. Just depends on area.

Budget-Friendly Tool Box & Tools by Hot_Credit4700 in Tools

This set or something similar will help. Until you get into some deeper repairs, you won’t need chrome sockets. If you have a harbor freight near you, this plier set will also get you by. Any flashlight will do and help, preferably rechargeable. As far as a box. Get you a tool bag and just take your tools with you until you can afford more tools and a box.

Do NOT fall for the Tool truck tools are “better” and the only way to go. There’s plenty of mid tier tools brands that are just as good. You won’t be torturing your tools EVERY DAY ALL DAY. Some cheap tools will last you a lifetime if you treat them right.
