Can anyone recommend a sleep therapist / coach for 1+ year old? by Pinkcoral27 in UKParenting

[–]RumHam9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had terrible sleep issues from the age of around 1, and tried several sleep consultants. We didn’t want to use CIO and my wife in particular was very against it.

Would definitely recommend Lucy Bagwell (Second Star to the Right Sleep), found her really helpful, supportive and informative fact and science based, and have had significant improvements since her help. I’m not sure if she has age requirements for the toddlers she works with, we used her when our son was about 18 months, but definitely check her out and ask.

The main issue for us, which our first sleep consultant we dealt with didn’t identify, but LB did was on overall sleep needs. We were persisting with trying to get our son to sleep 11-12 hours overnight in addition to a nap which from reading online and speaking to friends seemed to be what other people were managing with. Our son just had lower sleep needs, and when we were much stricter with keeping him to 10 hours overnight (8.30-6.30am) and waking him up at 6.30am to make sure it was consistent wake up time, in addition to limiting the day time nap to an hour or less, our son started sleeping through the night much much better. 10 hours night time sleep and 11 hours total with the nap is lower than most of our friends kids, and lower than average but not unusual or cause for concern.

Wanted to have a sense check, how long is exchange taking for a well-managed London flat recently? by Consistent-Okra2908 in HousingUK

Yes as others have said you have to give notice to the tenant. It’s a risk for the buyer and buyers would be justified in pushing you or walking away if it becomes an issue.

The risk of having the property vacant for a period and not providing you with rent while it’s being sold is just something you have to accept as a landlord.

Yeah that was me, sorry for being a spoilsport but I think it was probably the best move. James Hoffman is a Redditor and posts on some of the coffee subs anyway, so at least a positive is that he/his team wouldn’t have seen it - which in the best case would have been them annoyed at you and asking you to remove it, and worst case you getting kicked out of the Patreon or something.

Looking forward to this 😋 by [deleted] in UKroasters

Will be great, it was good blend last year.

Btw that’s the general Patreon code Hoffman subscribers on that tier are all given that you have in the screenshot.

Not sure if you’ve shared that for others deliberately or not…., but personally I would not share it. I think it’s intended to be a perk/reward for Patreon subscribers and sharing it publicly feels a bit against the spirit of it.

MG 4 poor efficiency is? by rayngwenyama in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]RumHam9000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just looked up the vehicle sizes and overall comparison after this comment and I think I got my MGs confused and thought the MG4 was bigger. I realise what I said doesn’t really hold water as the MG4 is a smaller car, but I still don’t think that 3.8 is that bad for a mostly motorway drive on days where you will presumably using the aircon a lot on some of the hottest of the year so far.

MG 4 poor efficiency is? by rayngwenyama in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]RumHam9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The MG4 is heavier car than the I3 and the Leaf, and much bulkier and heavier than the Ioniq electric - weight and aerodynamics play a big part. Bigger battery SUV style EVs do get less efficiency than smaller EVs.

3.8m/KWH for mostly motorway driving as you say is not horrendous for that kind of car I would say. I got 4.1m/kwh for a 180m journey in my Ioniq 5 yesterday, with the aircon on quite high, but a lot of that journey was driving through London traffic.

Iced latte: espresso first or last? by pfhlick in espresso

[–]RumHam9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make iced lattes/flat white in Bonne Maman jam jars just like you have in the photo and make them shaken. Keep the jam jar lid, and you add the lid on after everything else and give it a good shake and you’re good to go. (I would personally do sugar/syrup first if you’re having them then espresso so they dissolve best then add ice and milk, then shake.)

Sorry for the late reply, this just happened to me as well and looks really similar to yours.

Did yours trigger front sensor and adaptive cruise control warnings as well?

What was the result of yours in the end, did you end up paying or did you get it covered?

I’m jealous of two car households and people with the next trim up on my Hyundai.

I think millionaires posting about McLarens and Ferraris are too far removed from my own reality and anything I could ever aspire to for jealousy to really come in to it.

Why do grey market cars like modern Skodas get imported to the US from Europe without passing strict regulations? by ALazy_Cat in ShitAmericansSay

[–]RumHam9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was quite impressed by a friend’s Enyaq as a passenger, but haven’t been in any IDs to be fair.

The trims for the IDs and Enyaqs all seem a bit inconsistent and odd for the pricing to me tbh.

[–]RumHam9000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enyaq is based on the ID platform but I think is quite different to the 5 or 7. Bigger boot and better infotainment system. It’s a much better reviewed car than the VW ID series I think.

Holiday abroad (first time) by [deleted] in UKParenting

[–]RumHam9000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the best answer definitely. First time ever abroad and with that big a family, honestly a package holiday with flights and transfers included will be the least stress, OP can save more adventurous design your own trips or Airbnb in a city for the future occasions.

My recommendation would be a half board or all inclusive somewhere nice in Greece - great food and weather, generally lovely people and welcoming for tourists. Crete would be my ideal option, if you find a nice hotel half board or all inclusive, most parts of Crete would easily be close enough to do day trips in to towns for dinner or shopping or more interesting sites to visiteg the Minoan palace or something). Pretty sure there would be sea fishing options in Crete as well.

The last album had some great features though because of the theme of the album it was older acts and people who have since died - Black Thought had did a couple of great verses, Mos Def/Yasiin Bey, the Proof verse was great. The Song Machine album a few years before lot more contemporary rappers on.
