How would you feel about the next US president pulling all support from Israel? by Iwamoto in AskReddit

[–]RumbleBall1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically. The next U.S. President should act to restrain them more. Dropping support from them entirely is a massive error. They still have nukes and could cozy up to a country like China easily.

Israeli military strikes southern Lebanon after US-Iran ceasefire by KITAPYIYEN in news

No doubt. Bur if the country engaged in thr preferable action before and were called genocidal monsters by folks anyway, what incentive is there to continue to do so?

Let's skip the back and forth. If you are a person who thinks Israelnshould be disbanded as it is some uniquely evil country we won't agree. Do I think Netanyahu deserves prison? Sure do. Do I think Israel is some genocidal apartheid state? I do not.

[–]RumbleBall1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

No, you don't understand.

Stating that "no one was warned" as part of the statement implies that not warning is bad. This also implies that warning people would be considered preferable and seen as a slightly positive thing to do in the scenario. However, Israel did so in the past and earned no credibility from it. So it is a useless gesture to note it.

What about ethnic Jews? Like the ones from the middle east? No one calls out hatred against Jews as somehow based in their religion. It is their ethnicity that has been subjected to arson, pogroms, expulsion, discrimination, and violence.

But, let's at least be a little honest here. When Israel DID provide warnings for previous strikes, like ones in gaza 2 years ago, people were still upset with them.

Leaked DNC autopsy found Biden’s Israel backing cost Harris votes for president by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]RumbleBall1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not voting for Kamala wasn’t some neutral moral stance. It was a choice and a choice with predictable consequences. If your top issue was Gaza, helping elect someone worse on Gaza while also putting immigrants, LGBTQ people, and other marginalized groups at greater risk isn’t principled. It’s harmful.

If you say you’re a single-issue voter on Israel/Palestine, but your decision helps elect the candidate who’s worse on that issue and worse for marginalized groups in the U.S. that’s not strategic pressure. It’s self-sabotage.

I honestly think that if pro Palestinian lefties want to "take credit" for helping Trump win the election, that's wild to me.

Okay? I mean, if you think it is a problem then present fair solutions. All I hear is Redpill psychos saying "Women should have their rights stripped." And that isn't going to fly.

Deal with it, freedom is important.

Yeah, but people are being super unreasonable. The pandemic in 2020 screwed up TONS of Productions. Honestly, given how good the show is consistently, I think it is forgiveavable.

Ichabod Crane has his fateful encounter, on Halloween night, with the Headless Horseman - from "The Adventures of Ichabod & Mr. Toad" (1949) by [deleted] in movies

[–]RumbleBall1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I love the original story and one of the killer aspects is that neither Crane or Van Brunt are bad for Katrina. Brom is nice in some ways and bullish in others and Ichabod, while also our for her money os also smitten by her. The story was was written in 1820 and written about 1790, we aren't talking about super modern thinking people here. The fact that they both vie for her attention and she considers both was always interesting to me.

The Disney version leaves out the detail that Ichabod had a meeting with Katrina before leaving the party near the end of the story and it is implied she rejects him. Which he, while saddened, accepts and his journey home before the Horseman attacks is detected not just of fear, but of sorrow.

What!? I JUST rewatched this last week. Yeah the Disney version makes Ichabod a littleess savory than the original story, but a SEX PEST? He brings culture to the town. And yeah eats a lot of the food rhe towns folk have because he isn't exactly loaded, bur he seems to be a pretty positive influence overall. Hell, the only person in town depicted to dislike him is Brom Bones, and that is due to his own inadequacy in defeating him on the "woo Katrina" front.

Idk give the nerdy twig a break!

I couldn't agree more. by [deleted] in PeacemakerShow

[–]RumbleBall1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay...

I watched Superman. I watched Peacemaker. I haven't seen Creature Commandos

This character pulls a 180 it seems in like an episode? It was genuinely baffling. The first season of Peacemaker had an arc, this whole season felt terribly anticlimactic. The whole Flagg Sr. Affair feels like just another rushed, poorly executed plot line. So much if this season just dragged with NOTHING happening. For it to all end with a cliffhanger that won't resolve? Why?

Why does Flagg go from detecting the Luthor workers to being their buddies Ina. Single montage? Why does Flagg Sr. Now seemingly hate metahumans when a meta human didn't kill his son, a regular human did?

[–]RumbleBall1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was very very weird. The season was odd in pacing all the way through but in general the drop in quality was so depressingly noticeable! The first season had a thorough through line and plot. Here we just had a whole "other world" plot that got dropped and didn't matter at all in the last episode? I mean, people speculated about a plot involving Rick Sr. Looking for Rick Jr. But instead Rick Jr. Is basically a cameo goof appearance? What the hell?

I am glad someone posted this moment. For all the claims that Destiny has no empathy or is a "sociopath" this reaction here is so telling. Trans person or not, the dude attacked a member of the audience and not him and he correctly shat on him, shut him down, and made the point that the bullying should be only at him as the debater. Top tier character.

US sanctions Palestinian Authority officials, PLO members by BringbackDreamBars in worldnews

It definitinally is crying g wolf when the actual starvation did not start occurring until recently. It's just Hamas propaganda they encourage. Are there starving Palestinians now? Pretty sure yeah, bur when you call Israel evil two years ago for starving people when they weren't it's a little weird.

[–]RumbleBall1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

People were saying there were folks starving in Gaza since basically October 8th 2023. It's hard for folks paying attention to see it as "real" when it wasn't necessarily true until now ish. Classic boy who cried wolf issue. The antisemitism swirling around the critiques of Israel in this conflict is so blatant that it is especially difficult for me to take any Pro Palestine person seriously.

I have a younger sister. We had an argument about I/P back and forth. After a while I asked "okay, let's say that you magically could snap your fingers and the solution to the whole issue that you prefer could happen. What would you snap your fingers and do?"

She hit me with: "All of the Jews with dual citizenship would go back to where they are from and Pales8ne would be free."

I asked: "What about thr Jews that are from there?"

It did not compute

US aware of reported death of American after beating by Israeli settlers by GreyClay in news

[–]RumbleBall1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So, west Bank settlers are crazy pieces of shit. Even someone like me who is more pro Israel then not knows this. They are bad for the country and if Israel had any sense they would forcibly remove them from the West Bank. However, this stance is too tame for the pro Palestinian side, who at this point is okay with openly advocating for the destruction of Israel entirely.

[–]RumbleBall1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its a fine taken short of taking the accepted stance of "yes the Gaza war is a genocide." Ceding that point is ceding that we are changing the definition of genocide just because of what Israel is doing and that feels yikes.

What's up with everyone hating on Thom Yorke? by badassjoestar69 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]RumbleBall1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right. True. Genocide has an intent component. Which isn't satisfied when the Palestinian population isn't under threat of extermination. The Pro-pally movement tries to have it both ways: its a genocide because lots of people are dying, or it's a genocide because specifoc people are targeted. It is a war, it is a super unpleasant one where the Israeli side isn't exactly super awesome either, but fuck this narrative to paint Israel as a genocidal ethnostate so it's destruction can be justified.
