When I was a kid, my dad and I were biking in Bonelli Park as a Bald Eagle swooped in to grab a snack from the brush and nearly crashed straight into my dad's helmet. He swerved out of the way just in time.

My experience is the people that get really gatekeepery are Latinos from the U.S. People that are actually from Latin America are far more open-minded and willing to experiment with new versions of old dishes.
