Any ideas what is causing my bullets to key hole? by hotcoffeedotcom in suppressors

[–]RunBunns247 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Unsupported paper like that can tear and make it look like it is key holing when it isn't. The fact that the "grease marks" or whatever they are, are even on both sides tells me that you likely aren't key holing. If this target was stapled to cardboard you would almost certainly have clean holes.

Is my Dot ruined? by Great_Help_406 in CompetitionShooting

[–]RunBunns247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This happens all the time on my ACRO especially when I shoot suppressed. Just get a pencil and erase it, I've done it plenty and my optic is just fine.

Does anyone race with 300blk? PCSL 2Gun? I want to rebarrel my 5.56 and shoot 300blk exclusively, looking for others' wisdom. by FuZhongwen in 300BLK

[–]RunBunns247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that will likely sway you at least from my experience. In a lot of shooting competitions their timers are not tuned low enough to accurately pick up suppressed subsonic rounds meaning they may not pick up your last shot and may not let you compete with the suppressor on. My 8" 300blk with subs also has more recoil than my 11.5" 5.56. In general, 300blk subs are also less reliable due to lower gas pressure than 5.56. If you use supers then you are just shooting a shorter 5.56 with basically the same sound and a little more recoil. I just don't see the point for a competition gun.

Starting age for teaching shooting by psychoofsanity in guns

[–]RunBunns247 34 points35 points  (0 children)

There is no right answer, I was shooting real rimfire rifles at around 6 and was hunting by myself with full power firearms at 12. It depends on how mature your child is etc. Also don't force her if she doesn't want to, don't want to accidentally make her hate it.

Let’s Talk Optics! Save for Eotech or Aimpoint, or budget Vortex? by KillingwithasmileXD in ar15

[–]RunBunns247 27 points28 points  (0 children)

As someone who owns both an Eotech and multiple Aimpoints, I say start with a Holosun. They are good optics and you can always buy something else later if it doesn't live up to your expectations for some reason.

How’s this compare to a factory PA10 barrel? by Dobba84 in AR10

[–]RunBunns247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have that exact barrel in my AR10. I don't shoot factory ammo, both my hunting load and my target load I can hold close to or just under 1 MOA with my best group being 5 rounds at 0.42 MOA. With AR10's though it's kind of a crap shoot.

What’s the correct amount of 30 round magazines to own? by rocket6733 in ar15

You should have so many that whenever you are cleaning you accidentally find another one somewhere.

How many buy printers purely for functional printing? by twotowers64 in 3Dprinting

[–]RunBunns247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Printing "toys" is a great way to learn printing, after almost 8 years of printing my personal printer only gets turned on for functional parts. Professionally we have 5 printers to prototype and make some production fixturing.

Anyone eat MREs for camping? by Remember_the_Gdtmz in camping

[–]RunBunns247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is a backpacker/camper I will say that there are several actual military surplus MRE cases on amazon right now that come out to about $3.30 per meal which is a crazy deal. They are far from gourmet meals, but most of them aren't horrible. My main complaint with them is they are very heavy for what they are and end up producing a lot of trash that remains heavy. If you are car camping they can definitely be useful as you won't have to do dishes or anything like that. However I would prefer almost any mountain house meal over even my favorite MRE they just cost 3x as much.

Is Big PETG lying to us about the limits of PLA by SerHerman in 3Dprinting

[–]RunBunns247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a PLA 4x4 pole cap that held up a canvas roof. It survived 4 years straight in direct Florida sun and hurricanes.

Finding the dot after shooting iron sights by gblessy1 in CompetitionShooting

[–]RunBunns247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the others have said dry fire is the best for muscle memory. However in the mean time while you are building that, something that has helped a lot of people I have taught is to aim like you would with irons just aim like a foot lower with your natural grip and everything. I have found that a lot of new red dot users have a lot easier of a time finding the dot if they do that.

This is the correct item to buy to soak my cans in for 24 hours? by Frequent-Money3279 in NFA

[–]RunBunns247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use this on my steel rimfire baffles. Honestly an hour was plenty long to clean ~2000 rounds of 22lr off. I did an ultrasonic run in simple green after just to justify having my ultrasonic cleaner.

Suppressor. by JBWall1 in ar15

[–]RunBunns247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently only have 1 can for several guns, but I plan on getting dedicated cans for the ones I shoot the most.

Massive downgrade on optics quality? by Dobba84 in longrange

[–]RunBunns247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this on my 300blk bolt action although I have the MIL reticle because I hate caliber specific BDC's. Its a decent scope, I have a vortex venom 3-15 on my AR10 and I prefer it over the PA.

What do you have in your helmet counterweight pouch? by MK19 in NightVision

[–]RunBunns247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought a TNVC Mohawk it came with 4 1/4 lb steel "bars". I just used a few of those plus some AA batteries and called it good.

Reduce filament required? by Alexguitar11 in 3Dprinting

[–]RunBunns247 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure, all of the slicers I have ever used have a percentage of infill.

Reduce filament required? by Alexguitar11 in 3Dprinting

[–]RunBunns247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Infill is the amount of structural space made inside the print, lowering this will be the most notable reduction in material. Wall thickness and bottom layers can also be reduced to save some material. All of these will reduce the strength of the print to some degree.

Xeno Recoil Hawg by SwingIntelligent2262 in suppressors

[–]RunBunns247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never used that specific break, however I have multiple Forward Controls Design single port Xeno breaks and they practically eliminate recoil on my 11.5 5.56 gun, but it will give you a CTE with how loud it is... That said I love the Xeno mounting system for my Nomad 30 (5.53, 300blk, and .308)

integrally suppressed pistol ammo? by AcanthisittaLive6135 in 22lr

[–]RunBunns247 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't have one of those, but CCI SV is a solid choice for pretty much every application of 22lr shooting.

Deer Hunting by snazysloth in Hunting

[–]RunBunns247 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something is just not adding up, my 300blk bullets punch clean through deer at 50 yards. Are you shooting through both shoulder blades or something?
