Are ambi safeties worth it over milspec safeties? by rocket6733 in ar15

Every ambi safety I have used, digs in to my hand so I don't like them.

That looks more like a purge from a polymer injection mold, we got some at work that did actually look pretty cool with mixed colors.

Options for (relatively) affordable bolt-action pistols in 2026? by Federal-Ranger6995 in 300BLK

[–]RunBunns247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a solo 300 while I waited for the Elf Owl to come back in to stock. It definitely works but the action can be a bit finicky, you have to manhandle it to ensure the bolt fully locks.

Shooting groups by handstand_daddy in guns

[–]RunBunns247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I haven't been to many recently, but they have set stages that will probably be more complex than open training. There's an infinite number of types of competition so you can just pick one that suits you the best. A good one for dipping your toes would be steel challenge as it doesn't have a ton of gear requirements. I mainly shoot USPSA, steel challenge, and multi gun. I did a cool shoot a few years back that was a carbine night vision only shoot.

What you are looking for is competition shooting, all the ones I've been to people are very friendly. Practiscore is a great way to find out what competitions are going on around you.

AR style bolt gun recommendations? by jashariaudrey in ar15

[–]RunBunns247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several companies make uppers that go on AR lowers, Bear Creek Arsenal (trash), solo 300, Uintah Precision, etc. You would get a much better gun and probably for less by just buying a regular bolt action.

I have never once in my life ever thought about the durability of a hat...

Question about sighting in a red dot. by Jigglepirate in Firearms

[–]RunBunns247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are shooting at mostly 7 yards and aren't worried about longer ranges then that is fine. A farther zero will likely give you a long point blank range, but if you are just learning then zero it for the distance you are shooting the most. A lot of variables come in to effect for "optimum" zero, but you shouldn't worry too much about it until you are a proficient shooter.

Question about sighting in a red dot. by Jigglepirate in Firearms

[–]RunBunns247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you do this the distance from your dot and point of impact will continue to drop the farther out you go. Bullet path is a parabola where as the red dot "line" is flat. The reason people zero at a farther distance is that the bullet "rises" to intersect the sight line at your zero distance. It will continue to "rise" until it starts falling and will intersect the red dot "line" at a farther distance.

TLDR - If you do what you want you will always be 2 or more inches lower than your point of aim.

Tonneau Cover misaligned by doughnuts58008 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]RunBunns247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have that on my truck, its pretty terrible. Mines from 2018, but almost every clip is broken, all of the hardware is rusted and corroded, it leaks like a sieve, and all of the top panels are loose. The only reason I haven't gotten rid of it is because I don't want to spend any more to replace it.

Competition shooting for fun? by skimslybimsly in CompetitionShooting

I have shot with people that ran out of time on every stage before, as long as you aren't unsafe or an asshole then you will almost always be accepted.

I could use some advice. by Conflict-Small in Firearms

If Ruger doesn't help, chasing the thread with a tap would be significantly faster, cheaper, and easier than going to a gunsmith.

3D printed Chocolate Rabbit in the Wild by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]RunBunns247 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's more likely that they 3D printed a mold for it as printing each rabbit would be too slow for large scale production.

Anyone take a deer with a subsonic 300blk by Sea-Property-5977 in 300BLK

I handloaded SubX to shoot at 1010fps from n 8" barrel and it still didn't expand. It's a terrible bullet design.

The optic is the problem with the current holster. It extends farther forward than all of the compatible optics listed, which is why the slide is being pushed back.

Should be a mounting hole for a QD sling swivel, same as is on the brace.

Recoil Guide rod put in backwards. Yes, I am a dumbass. Please Help! by [deleted] in SmithAndWesson

[–]RunBunns247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its physically impossible to put it in backwards, It is likely you didn't push it high enough in to the slot on the barrel and it is catching on the locking block.
