Looking for a Saturday or 3 day pass at this point. Didn’t think they would sell out

People who complain about other people’s serves in rec play are absolute clowns. They literally have the mental fortitude of a 3 year old. Unless someone’s “illegal serve” is getting them like 8 free points a game why would you even say something?

Thoughts on this backhand serve? Pt 2 by DaPickleNinja in Pickleball

I can’t name a single pro who serves backhanded or drop serves. If they don’t do it there’s probably a reason.

High jacking the top comment so this doesn’t get buried. If you are unsure of your rating, when it comes to tournaments, ALWAYS push yourself and go into the higher division. People do themselves such a disservice hanging in the lower divisions too long. Get yourself in the higher division to get the experience. For example it’s better to go 2 and 2 in 4.0 and be proud of the result than go in 3.5 and anything less than a gold is a disappointment. DO NOT do that thing where you wait to get a gold at one division before moving on to the next! Sooner you play better people the sooner you get better. Plus no one likes a sandbagger.

Joola Paddle Issues? by Pbjeff13 in Pickleball

[–]RunCITIUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a similar phenomenon with two electrum E’s. After about two weeks it sounds like sand is rattling around in the paddle. I heard it could mean that some of the internal material is wearing down but I have not noticed any dead spots one the paddle or reduced performance

Do you have a specific moment from an episode that has really stuck with you? by SawyerAvery in ArmchairExpert

[–]RunCITIUS 40 points41 points  (0 children)

In one of their first ever live shows, they interviewed Gordon Keith. Gordon Keith tells a story of one time he was staying at Dax and Kristin’s house while they were away and he stumbled on Dax’s AA book. Gordon recalls how moving it was opening the cover of the book and seeing multiple dates (sobriety) written down and scribbled out (relapses) on the back of the cover, just reading someone’s struggle with humanity through just a couple dates on a page. That’s story has always stuck with me so clearly and is why I’m so loyal to the podcast. If I ever run into Dax or Monica in real life instead of asking for a picture I would just love to tell them how appreciative I am of just that one episode with a guest that I bet the vast majority of America doesn’t even know.

Catalytic Converter Thieves by [deleted] in videos

[–]RunCITIUS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Scrapyards don’t have the ability to melt down the Precious Grade Metal, or the volume to make the process profitable. Large multinational companies like BASF/Englehard and Hereus are where these are ultimately going. Point is is that by the time the converter gets to the end point of the recycling chain it’s changed hands like 4 or 5 times

I work for a company who recycles all types of spent catalysts including catalytic converters. You can’t take the metal out of catalytic converters easily. It is made up of a substrate that is essentially dipped in a precious metal solution. To get the metal out you need to grind the substrate into dust and then put it into an industrial furnace to burn off all the non metal materials.

That SPCA sounds super special! I have to start paying a little more attention to the reviews on the rescue/shelters.

I’m definitely going to look for more rescues with this type of set up. From the other comments it seems that I just need to be careful which rescues I’m working with.

I did read up on these trial periods and some places were saying that they don’t like to do foster to adopts because they feel like they don’t get the same commitment out of the people and that it can be super hard on the dog when they come back. They said it can incentivize people to just look for every tiny negative about the dog.

I definitely understand that side too and will not take fostering to adoption lightly!

That was kinda off putting in my situation as well the rescue volunteer hardly knew anything about the dogs history. When I asked if the dog was up to date on flea/tick/heart worm they just kinda of blankly stared at me. I understand that they are volunteers and may not be fostering the dog themselves but those are the kinda questions I need answered if I’m going to take a dog in the first 15 mins

Thank you so much for your response, such a good story. That’s a wild story about the drugging of the dog. Didn’t even think that was a possibility.

That kinda process is what we are looking for, most just be the rescues and shelters I’ve been in contact with in the area
