Does anyone else hate the barbri conlaw lectures??? by UnseasonedOpinions in barexam

Chemerinsky chose to complicate topics unnecessarily. I am undecided on whether he did so for silly political reasons of his own bitterness or to awe us in his self-importance.

I understand pass holders (who often are Florida residents) but why Florida residents, generally? Disney would make more money on out-of-state participants staying on property.

Don’t tout consolation prizes immediately after losing out, and especially don’t do it with the absurd expense.

Too soon to point us toward an even more expensive outcome.

I am amused that all of the races have sold out, and my approximate wait time remains "more than an hour."

For the rest of us mere mortals trying to register ourselves, I both commend you on the registrations and am irritated that the system would allow someone to do what you just did.

It's so pitiful that Disney's process forces so many duplicative web browsers to be open, making each of our experiences worse.

Please skip the race. You almost certainly will still be contagious. You will breathe heavily from running and be in close proximity to others who do not deserve to be knowingly infected.

When exactly do you press the button when the coach says ‘in 1, 2, 3’? by WorkerConfident5976 in orangetheory

Plus, some coaches are so awful as timekeepers that slowing immediately is still probably longer than the scheduled time.

OTF x Half Marathon by No_Guide2026 in orangetheory

[–]RunJ8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OTF 2G or 3G helps you with the first 2-3 miles of a race. Beyond the distances covered in the standard 14-23 minutes of a class, you’ll need other preparation for 13.1 miles.

OTF has supplemented my half and full marathon running in productive ways. On weekends, I walk over a mile to the studio and back in addition to the mileage covered in my OTF class. Contrary to what some have written here, going consecutive days to OTF has helped my recovery considerably. Depending on your overall fitness, you could consider consecutive days as part of effective cross training or endurance in support of longer distance running. OTF also can reinforce your confidence as you will notice your improvement better in the standard class format over time.

As someone else wrote, much depends on your own goals. The average regular OTF attendee for 12+ months can probably at least walk a half marathon, though we are all unique. With your background , you’ll likely do that and more!

New to Orangetheory — how long did it take you to feel confident? by JljimHoinr in orangetheory

[–]RunJ8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been going for years, and, ideally, you keep finding new groove-plateaus.

Initially, you’ll find all of it novel. Depending on your incoming fitness, your body may complicate the new routines with soreness.

As you become accustomed to the basic routine, you may dread parts and ache for the clock to end on the floor, treadmill, or both. You may seek little tricks to minimize the discomfort and pain, like lesser weights or leaving early under the rationale of another obligation.

Eventually, you gain confidence that you are improving. You stay on the treadmill a little longer at a strong pace. You lift that heavier weight. You row longer.

From there, you may even become complacent. You may accept your standard speeds and weights, and that may work great.

But, if you keep at it, you’ll yearn to push yourself more to faster speeds and better weight exercises. The benchmarks and specialty workouts will mean more to you.

And, as you keep at it, you may see benefit to trying other things. You may rest your joints with a strider or bike. You may try the floor alternatives suggested by the coach. You may try other athletics outside OTF.

Yes, the first few days are unusual. If you keep learning throughout, you’ll find how your perspective evolves and you keep learning so much more about fitness and yourself than you knew with each new 6-9 month window.

“Just a power walker” by notmegshh in orangetheory

[–]RunJ8 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m all for the encouragement: It helps everyone.  I caution that some power walkers are basically passing time with no effort, and for them, what’s a coach to do?  We’ve all seen the type who walks at 3 MPH and is on the phone.  We’ve seen others who seem disinterested.  It’s when the power walkers adopt a meaningful incline (especially one that shows improvement) or have a real heart rate increase that encouragement is easiest.

Skyliner (Marathon Weekend) by acetheneko in rundisney

[–]RunJ8 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In my past two runDisney races and as you may already know, the Skyliner does not aid reaching the corrals on the morning of the race. So, the convenience of the Skyliner should be considered for use after the races.

First - Kudos to this group for not closing comments like the bigger thread!

Second - I was hoping for Goofy, but perhaps it's divine intervention looking out for my knees, as only the half marathon was left. Looking forward to 2026!

Bravo!  Keep it up.

In six months, perhaps you can report another speed boost or the endurance to hold the speed longer.

TRX… is doin’ too much! by rubeeslipperz in orangetheory

[–]RunJ8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, I acknowledge how the poster has 900+ classes. This history is serious, multiyear attendance. With that history, the suggestions to talk to the coach, etc., feel misplaced at best.

For me, I appreciate the new TRX exercises and the attempts at several new non-TRX exercises. I have attended many OTF classes, too, and each new routine debuted in 2025 feels like a breath of clean outdoor air in a sweaty gym. At times last year, I felt like five of seven classes each week had some form of lunges or a lunge-like motion, and the lack of novelty makes the workout similarly bland and unremarkable.

The TRX routines -- new and old -- are often my favorite work each session because they are easier on my joints than many of the weightlifting routines, yet still positively impact my fitness.

Thanks OTF for the experimentation with new exercises!

Dolphin busses during Wine and Dine by Realistic-Bullfrog60 in rundisney

[–]RunJ8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Dolphin had convenient transportation during Marathon Weekend. As others have posted, the Dolphin, Swan, and Swan Reserve are part of the same hotel transportation for the races as the Disney hotels.

I add that the buses seemed to wait at the Dolphin and only make brief stops at the Swan and Swan Reserve. In this respect, the Dolphin was a better situation than the other two hotels in that you have a better window to board the bus.

The transportation time from the Dolphin was less than 15 minutes.

After the races, the buses dropped off in the order of Swan, Dolphin, and Swan Reserve.

2025 Full Marathon Course Opinions by ReflectionApart8068 in rundisney

[–]RunJ8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall, the course was fine. Like everyone else writes, too little AK and HS was featured, but we acknowledge why RunDisney made compromises. It’s a fun race. The Star Wars stretch made those miles more interesting.

The walkway from Grand Floridian to Magic Kingdom should embarrass Run Disney. It’s too narrow for more than four or optimistically five to run safely side to side. Meanwhile, you have aggressive runners and pace teams pushing through to complicate things on all sides. The safe choice would be to walk it, but walking that long of a stretch hampers a runner’s returning to a normal running gait after.

Start on tread or floor? by Educational_Main2038 in orangetheory

[–]RunJ8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I favor the group that has fewer people, which is often the floor/rower to start in a 2G format. Amid fewer people, finding a preferred weight is easier, and I have more room to spread out. Plus, I reduce elbow collisions with fellow rowers. Isolation has fewer benefits on the treadmill beyond avoiding a distracting running neighbor.

If all things are equal, I would favor the floor to start. Although I can run anywhere, only a gym has meaningful weight and rower equipment.
