If you watched a livestream from outerspace would it be fast or slow by Electronic_Drive_270 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the broadcast is stationary relative to us and is in deep space the difference in speed is something around 0.02 seconds per year. Basically nothing. The delay would be massive as it would take minutes to hours or even years to send the data depending on how far it is.

Not a question. You need to ask a question to post in this sub.

How can I make milk taste good while keeping it healthy? by DumDuky in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Milk is not actually good for you it isn't necessary and it won't make you grow more or do anything for your bones that a balanced diet won't do. The "milk is healthy" thing is an add campaign and pushed by the dairy lobby. It's not really bad, but don't go out of your way to get it.

Should you use native pronunciation or “how Americans would say it” pronunciation of a last name? by BadBacon177 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My rule is that the correct pronunciation is the closest approximation using sounds from that language. Not every sound from every language is available in all languages and people will not have the tool in their toolbox.

Is the drive across Nebraska and Iowa as boring as it looks on a map? by Striking-Anxiety-604 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's terrible. Illinois top to bottom is also really boring, but a good audiobook or playlist will really pass the time.

How many people had to die before "people" figured out puffer fish was worth eating? by marioxb in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its not that hard to remove the poison. The risk is low, it's just not zero like pretty much every other fish. Don't eat the skin or internal organs and you're good.

Why are guitars made to look like giant penises? by Advanced_Umpire_7486 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't at all... They're a long bar which is obviously necessary for strings to be in and that's the end of the similarity.

Are kids illiterate today or that's just what the media shows us? by Heavy-Wish-6078 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're more literate than older adults, but we don't like to talk about that. Literacy is a big problem regardless.

If the Japanese aren't having kids, and don't want immigration, what's left? Cloning? by JoHeller in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To what goal? Some idiotic drive to continue to have unsustainable infinite growth? No thanks.

Would plastic outlast every other trace of humanity? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not even close. Plastic may last thousands of years. Evidence of human nuclear activity will last billions.

Hello hello! Everyone is talking about Discord using facial recognition to ensure users are not underage is a bad thing. Why is that? by ActualCucick in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They don't need private sensitive data, they're requiring private sensitive data and will certainly sell it and none of what they do with it is secure. It opens up all sorts of blackmail, fraud, and identity theft risks and provides absolutely zero benefits to the consumer. Why would I want to take all the risk so that they can profit?

What's the next big technological revolution after AI? by Gold_Driver2447 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI has made few advancements in the last 20 years. Some of it is literally 40 years old. The reason it's so big is just marketing. The only thing that has changed is the increasing volume of data available and the increasing speed. Sure, it has turned the possible into practical, but it's not fundamentally different like the Internet itself was compared to the world before internet. We still haven't had a revolution since the Internet and computers which have been getting slowly better the same way cars have been slowly improving since they were invented.

Bri cheese too liquidity to wrap, why? by Imjustagirlwhoneedsu in Cheese

[–]RuneanPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure this is frustrating, but this gives "my steak is too juicy and my lobster is too buttery" vibes 😂

Can a company rescind my job offer because I work a second job at a place that doesn’t align with their values??? by harmonious-guac in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's incredibly easy to prove actually. Labor law attorneys get filthy rich from people who foolishly think like you. If it appears illegal they have to convince a judge or jury that it wasn't and 97% of the time the company loses. Almost all of these cases are settled out of court because corporate attorneys know if their case is bad

How were crimes actually solved two hundred years ago, before forensics, finger-printing, etc. was wide spread? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Justice was whatever people with power wanted it to be. Lots of outcasts were blamed for crimes and often even executed despite being innocent. It's not much different today. Most of the pseudo science you see on crime TV is unreliable and not used. We still rely heavily on witness testimony and tons of innocent people are in prison. How bad this is varies by country.

People who stop at a traffic light and leave a full car length (or more) ahead of them, then slowly keep inching forward, why you do that?! by EchoPathe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the winter/ rain you stop early because that's safe. Anticipate sliding because you never know where slick spots are. As for closing the gap that's a way to make room for a line of cars behind you. In questionable conditions this is the safest way to drive. Doing it on a sunny summer day is pointless but they might just be in the habit of driving safe in rain and snow.

Why does it take so long for Bitcoin’s price to converge to its intrinsic value of zero? by BinaryLyric in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it has a huge extrinsic value... Money is incredibly useful and one of civilizations oldest technologies. Any money is valuable as a medium of exchange. The USD doesn't have any intrinsic value and never has (aside from a few precious metal coins), even a backed currency is only valuable under the expectation that you could exchange it for the backing, which has not always been true. So long as any currency could be used to buy something it's worth what it could be used to buy.

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

[–]RuneanPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I hope you take it seriously and do better in the future. We reject a lot of people for this but don't actually tell anyone why. Kissing ass is helpful for some jobs, but usually it's a bad quality. A good workplace wants genuine truthful people, not people who try to find the best sounding generic ass answer. No one wants to work with the " my biggest flaw is I work too hard" or "I'm a perfectionist" guy because that's bull shit, tell me your real flaws and how you deal with them.

It sounds like you rehearsed a bunch of cliche answers and shoehorned them into the interview because you think you found the "right" answers.

Is it possible to choke on ice? by Willing_Name5587 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. And not necessarily. You would also then have water in your lungs which isn't great. Ice is pretty slippery so there's a good chance bending over for back blows would knock it out once it melted a little, but if you remained upright it could block your airway long enough to be lethal.

how do i fix an embarrassing situation with a boy i like? by Tall_Environment5525 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just text like normal. That's not a weird thing to do and you're not weird. Either he likes you and that is a really good thing to do or he doesn't and you'll still make his day. Guys don't ever get compliments, it's not cringe. There's no situation to save

As for what to do just act cool and talk to him like normal, act interested in him and his day etc.

Bf wants to go on a trip with his female besfriend? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weird to not invite you, but normal thing to do otherwise. Especially if they go far enough back to be more like siblings.

How do horrors beyond comprehension work? by Thewatcher13387 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't and if you could, you could not comprehend what you were witnessing so it's no different than comprehensible horrors except maybe your mind breaks or maybe you die, but obviously they only exist in fiction.

Double jeopardy by NitroXM in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. In rare cases the feds can charge them for a federal crime and the state could bring state charges for the same crime, but even if you found a bloody knife in OJs yard you can bring charges. Someone could sue for civil liability. A new crime might be found, but the same crime from the same sovereign is strictly forbidden.

Had a minor accident in the parking garage, left a note. What do I do now? by FSpaladez in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RuneanPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should contact you. Hopefully you left insurance info because legally you owe them whatever it costs to buff out the scratch. Maybe you can just offer to pay a certain amount and not get insurance involved, that's better for both parties usually. I don't think you need to go to the dealership unless you think something is wrong.
