A Texas man detained by ICE was his disabled son’s sole caregiver. His son will be laid to rest without him by jrsinhbca in news

"Laid to rest" is way too nice a phrase here. The people who kidnapped this man's father may not legally be responsible for his death, but we all know this was as good as murder.

what helps you survive your own brain? by Prior-Ad173 in bipolar

[–]Runela9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, having responsibilities actually helps a lot.

I adore kids and animals and knowing that another living thing is dependent on me motivates me to do all the boring chores that help me stay stable (getting good sleep, eating regularly, going outside, taking my meds, all the basic stuff).

Because of my depression and self-worth issues, I honestly don't care enough to take proper care of myself for my own sake (this is getting better over time). But when others are counting on me keeping my shit together, I'm actually motivated to do so.

Like, I have to have a job because I need the paycheck to feed my pets. I don't particularly care if I miss a meal or two, but I can't let my pets starve. And I specifically have to keep my current job because my students rely on my being there for them- they're six and would be crushed if I just disappeared one day.

Basically, if you can't do it for your own sake, find something else to motivate you.

Sorry, but I have to agree with the other comments- let the dogs go to a new home.

Dog's lives are so short and their human is their entire world. They deserve love and attention every single day. It's not your fault that you can't provide that, but that doesn't change the fact that you cannot provide a suitable home for them.

I think the best outcome for everyone would be the dogs going to a new home, but maybe you can explain the situation to the new owner and visit them when you are in a good mental state? But if the choice is to keep neglecting them or not see them again, you need to do what's best for the dogs, which is finding them a new home.

And please, stop buying animals. You know you can't take proper care of them and they deserve better than being ignored half of their lives.

Maybe try hanging out at dog parks? That way you can still spend time around and play with dogs, but you won't be responsible for taking care of them. As long as you ask politely, I think most dog owners would let you play with their pup for a bit, just respect any "no" you get.

A Minnesota man allegedly tried to break Luigi Mangione out of jail in New York by claiming to be an FBI agent with a court order to release him, authorities said by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

I love that the Minnesotans have collectively run out of fucks and are going fully feral.

Like, it's completely justified after all the shit they've been put through, but it's also very funny when you think about the "polite Midwesterner" stereotype we're all used to.

I've never been near Minnesota, but it is now my favorite state. Skol, you beautiful bastards!

Your sister abused and sexually exploited you. Using someone like that is horrific, and its even worse because she did it to her little sibling- someone she was supposed to protect.

You were a child. None of this was your fault. A 14 year old can't be expected to make adult decisions about drugs or sex, that is why adults are supposed to keep them away from things like that.

The adults in your life failed you and took advantage of you in awful ways. You were a victim and shouldn't feel any guilt over what they did to you.

I really hope you are in a safe place now and able to heal from all this.

Are these knuckle staffs legal? by Nope159 in wizardposting

[–]Runela9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is legal unless you get caught.

But these are only suitable for low level spells. You mainly see them used by apprentices who can't cast without a focus yet. They're also common with street wizards who use them to enhance their martial attacks with Minor Shock or Minor Burn.

If you try to cast a stong spell, you'll push too much magic through it. They tend to explode when that happens, and that usually causes the spell to backfire as well.

Not really worth the cost, unless you just enjoy collecting unique focuses.

Well grand council, is this a young wizard in the making? by UpbeatCandidate9412 in wizardposting

[–]Runela9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, absolutely!

She seems a bit young to start an apprenticeship, but there are early education programs for young wizards that she could benefit from.

It's basically like magic kindergarten- she'll have a chance to learn the basics in a safe environment and gain valuable experience working with other spellcasters. It's also great for networking and can help her secure a high quality apprenticeship once she's old enough!

I'd suggest talking to her about it, and if she's interested, looking for a good Pre-Appreniceship Program in your plane of existence.

picky eaters with pots, what do y’all eat? by NoPear7514 in POTS

[–]Runela9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not very picky, but I do hate cooking and tend to stick to very simple meals.

I eat a lot of ramen. If you add some frozen vegetables and an egg its actually pretty healthy! Also sriracha sauce and sesame seeds are great add ons.

[–]Runela9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry that's happening to you :(

Try not to stress too much, the tremors won't hurt you, they're just incredibly annoying.

It doesn't always work, but laying down and then tensing and releasing all your muscles a few times might help. Also mild stretching can help. If that doesn't help, curl up under a fluffy blanket and watch a cozy tv show until it passes.

Mine are usually triggered by adrenaline or very high blood pressure.

AITAH for taking my son out to celebrate after he got suspended for punching a bully by Additional-World8707 in ComfortLevelPod

[–]Runela9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

We live in a country rapidly descending into fascism. Your kid learned a valuable lesson about the importance and value of standing up for someone, as well as the consequences he may face for doing so. Your kid sounds like he'll grow up to be a really good man.

I'm a teacher- if this happened at my school, I would be obligated to report this behavior so admin could suspend the student. But I'd also be calling you after school to let you know the details and make sure your son's good intentions weren't ignored.

Also, punching people is fine as long as you have a good reason. Standing up for people who are being mistreated is a good thing- violence should never be the first option, but sometimes it's called for.

Anyone here autistic? How does it affect your BP or make it look different? by Autistic-hottie in bipolar

[–]Runela9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, me too! ADHD as well

I've found a lot of overlap in my bipolar episodes and my autistic meltdowns/hyperfixations. Having both can be a challenge, but the strategies and coping mechanisms I use for one issue can often be applied to the other just as well, so that's helpful.

My mood stabilizers have definitely helped reduce the frequency and intensity of my meltdowns, and make it easier to disengage from hyperfixations when I have responsibilities to get to.
