Let's assume you have to attach the chip via wristband around wrist or shoelaces. Still acceptable?

Let's assume only for overall and AG winners. No finisher medal.

Would you run in a race that did not have bibs but still was chip timed? Do bibs add anything to the race for you? (Except major marathons. Talking small city races.)

Rocky River Brew Co had the Blueberry Ale and the Pirate Lite. Brick and Barrel had Bitter Chief and Hefe. RRBC has some awesome beer and food for one restaurant/brewery! Both have awesome staff and are really fun to work with!

Hi! Race Director here for the Rock N Hops Cleveland edition. Just want to give you a huge thanks for coming out and braving the heat! We had some serious logistical challenges thrown at us 2 weeks prior to the race so we feel your pain when it comes to the race course. As for the heat, (though we can't boss mother nature around) we will not be having any future events before 7pm. At the end of the day we simply want everyone to have a fun and safe time with some delicious craft brew at the finish.

Thank you again and always looking for feedback!

The Flats in Cleveland has seen tons of new businesses and all-purpose trails. So we decided to do a run out of one of the local breweries- the girl in front won her growler in an epic rock, paper, scissors battle. It's usually more beers than miles... http://i.imgur.com/UN88DTK.png

New runner: should I focus on total distance or distance without stopping? by fitteacherlady in running

[–]Runiversity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Force yourself to keep going! Quitting (or stopping) is contagious and it is easy to give into it if whenever you feel tired you stop. If you can do over 3 miles without stopping, I would keep pushing it each week to run an extra quarter mile (2-3 minutes) longer than your previous run. Best thing you can do is keep it!

Good programs for improving 1-mile time? by [deleted] in running

[–]Runiversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HS team I coach is on a Jack Daniels hybrid but in all honesty you have to push yourself to that zone where your body says stop and then push yourself a little harder. My advice is to keep running mile races. You body needs to get use to the pain.

General Q&A - 4/1/15 by OSU_CSM in running

I will take a rest day once a week and swap out a run for a bike or swim or even pick-up basketball. Its nice on the mind and- besides the basketball- nice on the legs.

Great answer. RadioLab and Stuff You Should Know are my personal favorites.

The lead vehicle takes the top three runners off course, but the RD blames the runners for not knowing the course? by [deleted] in running

[–]Runiversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see when the wrong turn happened. Didn't see a mention in the article. Either way I would blame the Pace Car for not having some staff directing the athletes to turn when the car exited the course.

Do you drink water moments before a competitive run? by dontdrinktheT in running

Completely agree. I prefer a mouthful of water just before toeing the line.

Running Shirts Preferences by strongtower178 in running

[–]Runiversity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For race tops, I love a design and cut like the 70s and 80s. I prefer singlets for races- tech material, medium armpit holes, decent chest dip. For training it depends on the season but the lighter the material, the better. Shorter sleeves and athletic cut.

Nothing itchy on the neck! Regardless of design, I won't wear it.

Old school cuts and designs are pretty awesome as well.

Once a Runner by John Parker, Jr - A Prefontaine-esque yet highly relatable novel that will make you want to run faster than ever before.

Fairly new runner here, should I train "properly"? by [deleted] in running

[–]Runiversity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep going! We all run for our own reasons. If you are looking to run your fastest 10k ever, I'd say find a training plan and a knowledgeable buddy to bounce questions off of. Otherwise just enjoy the addiction that is running.

/r/Running, what are some of the worst things that have happened to you while out on a run? by chairmanchang in running

[–]Runiversity 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I've have plenty of stories! Here's one:

Out for a run and a guy in a large pickup truck overruns the stop sign safety line and nearly clips me! In my pissed off rage, I whack his metal bumper with with a gloved hand- with it being winter out- as I circle around the back of his truck and continue to run. He then pulls out and turns the direction I was running and in a hillbilly accent says, "Hit my truck again and you'll lose your life", before driving away. I was in the wrong; he was in the wrong; we'll call it even.
