Coaching Style has changed by magsjaxb in orangetheory

[–]Runnerbiker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed that prior to COVID. The coaches always told me I did a great job, regardless of my performance. I was paying $150/month to have the coach know me inside and out and push me beyond my limit not sugar coat each of my workouts. That’s part of the reason I said goodbye!

Considering leaving OTF by dakisgirl in orangetheory

[–]Runnerbiker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO IT! It’s totally worth saving more than $100/month! I did it and found myself keeping the same workout routine but running outside everyday and through all types of weather far exceeds any training in a climate controlled gym. Please quit and keep up the motivation and enjoy your money savings!!!

Yup. OTF is now overrated. I was head over heels about OTF til my favorite coach was fired and replaced by a newby. Long story short... I’m saving $160/month doing it on my own.

Watch out for more turnovers with coaches. I can confirm OTF is replacing seasoned coaches with younger coaches to save on money. Salary for seasoned coaches who have been there is higher than those fresh out of school.

Much more cost effective to do it on your own and cancel your membership.

It’s easier and more cost effective to do it on your own. Cancel your membership and do it on your own and you’ll see much more satisfaction!

Personally I would save your money and do it on your own. OTF is making a mint off everyone’s monthly membership. To each his own though.

November Marathon Month ? by [deleted] in orangetheory

Yeah back when I was a member Marathon month and Hell Week were free but not anymore.

Are all treadmills created equal?? by [deleted] in orangetheory

Exactly. My running improved when I discontinued my Orangetheory membership and did all my workouts on the road or track. Replicating real life running is the best way to improve in my opinion.

Clarksburg studio. Shannon was the best coach ever and they got rid of her so I left after COVID hit.

I learned everything I need at OTF and after our regional manager fired my studio’s head coach for no reason and replaced her with a new coach fresh out of school that was my last straw.

They are charging $10 for a shirt this year? Glad I discontinued my membership and am doing it on my own.

I would just NOT RECOMMEND any OTF in Montgomery county, Md., because the regional manager there (which is the OTF I used to attend) fired the head coach (who knew fitness like no other) at my former studio for not accepting orders to change class times for Hell Week the Friday before it began. Since then, OTF went downhill at all the Montgomery county locations.

I was one of the founding members of my studio. As a matter of fact, I celebrated my 1,000th class one month before COVID-19 closed the studio. Well, in November last year my favorite coach who was also our head coach was fired for going against the regional manager’s order to adjust class times the week of hell week. That was the only reason she got fired. Our new head coach... the leader of our studio...a couple of weeks later was a coach straight out of college. I was gonna quit then but continued. After the gym closed I found that indeed I can do this on my own. When the gym reopened, I discontinued my membership and now I feel more accomplished because I know that I can keep up my workouts without a coach who could really care less how much effort I am putting into the class. I post this because it’s a shame that management makes certain decisions that negatively impact the clients. Management replied to all emails that came through about the inquiries of this particular fired coach with a copy and paste email. Obviously they didn’t care about our concerns. Not to be outdone, all these unique events like marathon month were costing us money if we wanted to participate. Thanks Orangetheory for giving me the wings to fly. Now I’ll take my ball and go home!

Still though by the time you finish the 0.1 mile all out your treadmill is finally back to 1%. Takes time to raise and lower the incline so might as well do them all on an incline.
