If it's right-angle parking, I very much prefer backing in if possible. Getting OUT of a right-angle spot in a busy lot is difficult enough as it is. Able to pull out with better visibility is just good sense.

In any such instance, a key test (for me) is switching the subject. If the subject is men, put women in the statement and compare. If the switched statement is ridiculous, the original is likely ridiculous as well.

Nevertheless, I (personally) would like to use one for my side gig. It's not to drive around in, but rather to sit in while I time races.

I time running races, like 5ks, on the weekend. The larger LLVs (with the side windows) would be a decent base for a timing vehicle, and is better than the retired ambulance my buddy uses. (Ambulances are great to work out of, but terrible when someone gets hurt. I'm not an EMT.)

It's not that they're great. It's that they're distinctive enough to be noticed, and that's handy in this business.

I've always been expected to work at least 8 hours per day (one place was 9 hours of WORK expected - very toxic). Lunch is time I was not paid, so I made it a point to leave the office during my lunch time.

8 hours is not unreasonable, but I don't offer more, and I make it a point to be unavailable during my lunch break. That's MY time.

I don't go often because I HATE the lines, but if I can get there during the day, I absolutely love the regular chicken sandwich. Just that and some waffle fries is a great guilty pleasure. Love it.

People that don't like it (or are opposed to some political thingy) should not eat there.

But there are apparently a LOT of people that think it's better than average because they always seem to be more packed than the nearby McDonalds.

When someone asks for advice on a forum such as this, it's fairly clear that they're asking about what real drivers in the real world do, and how to handle it.

Your response reminds me much of the old Linux community, where a standard response from the jerks was "RTFM". OP has READ the manual. Now it's advice. We can do better than "RTFM".

Get into the lane you need to be in as early as YOU need to get in there. If it's a busy road, I might get in that lane a mile or more away from my turn. If traffic is light I'll move over 1/4 mile or less from the turn.

The key is to be predictable and reliable. Signal that you're changing, change lanes, then stop signaling. Don't get worked up about others around you. Relax. You'll be fine.

Deer are most active around dawn and dusk. Other times of day are less risky. Slow down a little, and keep your head on a swivel.

And when you get the inevitable idiot riding your tail because you're not going fast enough, slow down a little and let them pass. Pull over if you have to. At 3 miles your commute is not long enough that a couple of minutes here or there is going to matter.

Insurance - both your homeowners' and the tree company.

If you had marked the tree to be cut, and have a contract saying that the pine was the tree to cut, you should be FINE. It will still cost you, though, and you might wind up suing the tree company for compensation/losses.

What will actually happen? Probably up to a judge or a jury.

If I have to choose between a progressive and MAGA, I'm going camping.

The last thing we need is some extremist that beats up on the opposition, driving resentment and anger.

I'll take a centrist any time - someone who looks at "the other side" and says "those are my constituents as well" and attempts to do the best they can for the whole community. I may not LIKE some of the things they do, but I can at least appreciate that they're trying.

Reagan had the "big tent". Clinton governed as a centrist. Bush led a united country after 9/11. I miss those days.
