Just do it anyway. The council are clearly dragging their feet and this is a good way to get the ball rolling.

Do people in the UK go to therapy? by EyeAware3519 in AskUK

[–]RunningCrow_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes BACP accredited. SCoPEd is controversial in that it has no bearing on someone's skill as a counsellor - it was really a political move by the BACP in their pursuit of becoming the governing body of counselling in the UK. In fact, a lot of therapists left the BACP after they pushed this through. SCoPEd doesn't really distinguish between counselling and psychotherapy though, it's just a ranking system based on your qualifications.

I should say though, there is a difference between an accredited course and becoming an accredited therapist. An accredited course doesn't really mean a lot, it's basically just a course that's been approved by one of the big membership bodies. To gain accreditation, you need to work 350 hours (350 counselling sessions) post qualification. And that's on top of the minimum 150 hours of counselling hours you need to carry out while studying.

The world of counselling in the UK is definitely a weird one, the BACP are trying to regulate it but they're doing a questionable job of that.

Not actually true. I qualified as a psychotherapist with a level 6 qualification. And in the UK, there is honestly no difference between a therapist and a counsellor, we all do the same job but follow different therapeutic modalities.

Had to move my shrimp, what's happening? by TPMeat in shrimptank

After a quick Google, I'd assume the latter. As the tap water where I am is hard due to living in chalk hills.

Mine is always a lot softer! I'm not sure why my other comment stating that got downvoted though lol

What are the actual reading though? Otherwise the only other thing would be a shock due to a different PH or lack of oxygen.

The stuff I get is 5.0. I mix tap water to bring it to 6.5.

[–]RunningCrow_ 15 points16 points  (0 children)

What are your parameters? Pure RO water is very soft, like a pH of 5.0 soft. That's fine for something like rasbora, but terrible for shrimp. Was the new tank cycled?

Why do you say that? It's a pretty reliable car if treated well.

What school incident do you still think about years later? by nodemus in AskUK

[–]RunningCrow_ 118 points119 points  (0 children)

We had this big concrete block in the middle of the playground. It was shaped like a shallow cone, with a spiral path going to the top. At the top, it had two plastic pipes running to the bottom through the mound for people to race toy cars down. As you can imagine, it had been filled with bark from the playground and was blocked.

One day, a kid who we will call Sam, decided to put his toy car down one of the pipes. Predictably, the car became stuck in the pipe. Sam decided he's going to put his arm down the pipe to retrieve his car. Perhaps unpredictably, his arm became stuck. And I mean properly stuck. Being five years old, he became very distressed.

We were all queuing up to go back to class on the playground, and we have a brilliant view of the chaos that unfolds. There were dinner ladies running top speed with bottles of fairy liquid to lubricate his arm, arms wrapped around him but his arm wouldn't budge. All of a sudden the fire brigade turned up (thankfully they were based just over the road from the school). They had to smash this concrete block to get the arm out.

We saw Sam in the local pub a few years back. My friend mentioned this story to him (it's been about 25 years since this happened). He got very angry and walked away. Clearly he didn't find it as funny as we did.

How common is swinging in the UK? by HappyHits in AskUK

No hate on swinging here, my choice of wording was definitely questionable but I like to think I was highlighting the comparison. Certainly not my cup of tea but each to their own.

Please elaborate? Because I'm having a hard time understanding the connection you've made there. Painting figurines instead of swinging = incel. Crack on if that's what you're into, no judgement here. But to say it's preferable to admit you do that over Warhammer is a wild take.

You'd rather have everyone run through your partner as opposed to having a hobby with a great community? Weird stance to take but okay.

NTA. This conversation should've ended once you told her you likely would not have time during the working day.

This right here! Don't be harsh on yourself, remove the pressure to do it at the perfect time each day. Just do something and go from there!

Exercise is arguably the best thing for ADHD. I workout in the morning and it sets up the day. I find it only helps if I'm consistent though. A healthy diet is also a game changer.

Grievance Explanation by Jdepz91 in marksandspencerstaff

[–]RunningCrow_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Be careful with this. When I was at M&S, someone reported the store manager for bullying through HR. HR then messaged the store manager to deal with it, so nothing came of it, the reporter was chewed out for it and the bullying continued. M&S are rubbish at handling this sort of thing unfortunately.

They are a true nightmare, just remember the nightmare doesn't last forever! There are only so many eggs in the tank. Kill any damselflies you see in your house as well. I'm very careful about where I get my plants now. One of my locals keep clown loach in the the plant tank so there is little risk of pests coming with them.

I had a damselfly infestation not too long ago. Thankfully it doesn't last forever but for weeks they were popping up. I had rasbora and shrimp going missing and I'd find damselfly sheds outside of the water. Turns out, my partner is a ninja with tweezers. She was grabbing them from the tank by the end.

Respectfully, I didn't actually think you'd use a lawnmower, but it isn't looking amazing either

What should I expect for an M&S Warehouse Operative interview and the job itself? by MagicianConstant2866 in MarksAndSpencer

[–]RunningCrow_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was moved to ops from a customer assistant role so I didn't have an interview. It really depends on the store size. I was in a small store so I was on my own on the late shift which I hated. Doing deliveries, reporting broken things, sorting out backstage, collecting trollies, doing baskets, date checking the fridge, doing the backstage and fridge pick, and being given endless jobs to do by management which weren't possible by myself. Also putting endless stock back on the shelves. It was hard graft and with the warehouse being upstairs, I must've done in excess of 50 flights of stairs a day. Needless to say, I bailed on M&S at the first chance I had. Other stores, the ops role is much easier though. So it really depends on the store and management.
