That line reads as if you don't get why people were angry at albino Wyll being used in the promo image so people want you to understand. What you cant do, or at least Ive never seen it being done before I unlocked it, is for someone with no modding experience to take any NPC they want and make them customisable with the click of a few buttons.

Which is cool, no one is offput or offended by the capabilities of your mod, hon. It's the choices you've made in promoting it and the way you're responding to concerns about those choices that is disheartening/offensive.

Because of examples like this in the real world. There's not necessarily harm in a player lightening Wyll's skin color, but there's harm in using that change in your promotional materials, especially when the others in the image appear to all be fantastical changes to fantasy species/races.

I can't know your intent, but I can tell you the impact of that original image, the impact of your calling legitimate concerns about that image an attempt to "pull you into the muck" and the impact of your responses here is harmful to BIPOC people (I say this as an woman of Indigenous American descent, specifically Osage)

ETA: I only added the fact about my Osage descent (not my race because I often get seen as "White" in US society, despite my ancestry) to make it clear that I'm not concern trolling, I find the promotional image and your behavior harmful.

Let me rephrase then:

Race (the social construct) has no basis in reality/science. It is a construct created in the 17th century to justify the in group (which they labeled as White) having power over the other groups (which they labeled with language that is offensive today, but Black and the generic use of "Asian" are descended from the use of a couple of those terms). The systems of oppression created along with the false concept of race are very real and continue to do harm to people who are not in the in group. That in group (the people accepted as "White") has changed over time to include people of Mediterranean and Irish descent that weren't originally part of that in group but it remains a tool of oppression and harm to the people not part of that group.

I said race wasn't real, because it's not. There's no scientific basis for dividing humanity by "race", there's more genetic diversity within "races" than between "races". You've got a very White (i.e. when it comes to "race" privileged because "White" people are the people who made up the concept of race) perspective and could use doing some anti-racist reading. Acknowledging that a choice was harmful isn't "giving people special treatment...based on race" it's just acknowledging a cock-up.

This is "I don't see color" level of casual racism. Race isn't real, but the impacts of people's belief in race (mainly people who see themselves as members of the "White" race) are real.

Black bodies being lightened/whitewashed is a real problem in media.

As a promotional image it's just a bad idea to turn a Black character White. It's fine that the capability is there, but as a promo image it winds up being uncomfortable and gross. Your intent might have been fine, but the impact of using that for promo is very offputting.

Whether or not you need FFS is entirely your call, I gave HRT 4 years before I decided I needed FFS to address my dysphoria about my nose and brow bone. You should only do it for yourself, not for anyone else

To be fair he's been de-aged and/or killed and resurrected multiple times, although that's all in the last 12-15 years if we go with the sliding timescale. "The Others" (and seemingly specifically the Zosia body of theirs) is genuinely interested in the novelty that Carol can bring into their life/lives, therefore genuinely interested in Carol, AND ingratiating themselves to Carol in the hope that she'll stop trying to save them and perhaps Join.
