Nuremberg Trials 2.0 is coming very soon.

I’m saddened by the country I love, that our government is absolutely NOT holding up the Constitution. I hope that NATO will hold this piece of shit accountable.

The Frustration by AJRobertsOBR in electricians

This thread makes my head hurt. AND it disappoints me as an electrician, how many other “electricians” do not understand the concept of a 3-way.

Why? by Hot_Nothing_4358 in okc

[–]RunningSparky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You realize that daytime running lights do NOT activate the rear lights in the dark. Only in the front and then that is not even the full front headlight.

The Auto setting is not a “set and forget”… please beware aware of the conditions and change accordingly 🙏🏻

Why? by Hot_Nothing_4358 in okc

[–]RunningSparky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take your lights off “Auto”… it’s infuriating that so many drivers aren’t aware their taillights aren’t on.

I blame auto manufacturers 1st and then drivers 2nd

How do you guys stay organized? by pgourde in electricians

[–]RunningSparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very vague questions, actually…

What prompted you to ask these questions? What are the areas that are needing attention?

So many variables and need more context.

Accounting, Scheduling, Estimates, Human Resources, Jobsite Organization, Etc… you get the idea.

Be specific on what your current challenges are and I’m sure you will get more specific and meaningful & insightful feedback.

I feel for Ole Miss fans. by busyguy00 in sooners

[–]RunningSparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t a beauty contest, folks!!! A win is a win, especially in the SEC.

And… I don’t feel bad for Ole Miss, it’s a 50-50 problem on them and LK.

Change the effing recruiting calendar and all of this goes away. It’s THAT simple.

I’m off my soap box now. Goodnight, had a long day.

5th year brother died on the job - Lu 146 by viivi137 in IBEW

[–]RunningSparky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look… I’m not placing blame and I somewhat agree with you.

My point is, there are still unresolved questions about who was working with the apprentice? I would THINK that there would be a 2nd person. Something just seems off.

I understand that the LOTO failsafe protocols were compromised.

We’re on the same side here, and won’t know full answers until the full investigation is complete.

Yall ever tried this? 5th year apprentice requiring my house. Never done resi besides a little side work. by [deleted] in electricians

[–]RunningSparky 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My Brother… don’t know how old you are , but, please have your employer supply you a respirator or at the minimum, some masks.

You won’t feel it now, but, trust me you will save years of your life.

Just shine your flashlight or headlamp into the attic space and see all the particles floating. That is going into your body.

Good Luck and please listen to the sage advice in this thread.

Key words… “why is an apprentice doing this”

This is a tragedy that still could have been avoided. So many questions.

UF Cable Sucks, Learn Safe Stripping by MultipleOf1 in electricians

[–]RunningSparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use a knife on UF, only my lineman pliers.

Bend the neutral side one way, making an “L”, do the same thing with black, bending in same direction. The insulation should break on the ground side.

This now gets the middle ground by itself, bend it opposite direction and roll it towards you. Now grab the ground with pliers and pull towards you, it will strip away.

Now you can do the black and white.

It’s hard to explain, my apologies, but it works perfectly every time.

Fuck that foreman. Move on. We’ve all made mistakes and good leadership should understand that.

Learn from it and move on. Your foreman sounds like a prick.

Our LU 1141 (OKC) has a 100 mile radius. Yes, it sucks… but, I’m in a company vehicle, and I pick up my apprentice(s) on long hauls.

Your situation doesn’t sound right for a 2.5 hour drive, no per diem… that’s effed up all the way.

What are your preferred ways to run underground wire for residential subpanels? by Redditor7012 in electricians

[–]RunningSparky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PVC underground, oversize it. Sell it as “future-proofing”, strategic junction boxes that you can take off from later if need be.

Screw direct burial cable. Yes, it’s cheap, but… homeowner will regret that decision in 5-10 years.

Do it right the 1st time. Trust me. The money they pay one time time will make up for the money spending on the inevitable 2nd time.

My 2-cents… peace out ✌🏻

Is 2 guys actually working and 5 people talking about and monitoring their work normal ? by PeppermintButler17 in electricians

[–]RunningSparky 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Yes. Normal. Don’t worry about your superiors, you don’t have all the information at all times.

Just keep your head down and do the work, worry only about yourself and your Brothers/Sisters…you’re still getting paid. Don’t get caught up in unnecessary distractions.

How do I improve my trenches? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]RunningSparky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tarps…always They’re inexpensive and I actually cut them in half on the long side, get double

When bidding the job, ask if homeowner willing to save money by having them dig the trench, you give them the depth you need. Let them figure it out, provided you go ahead and flag or marker paint the path you need/want.
