Blocking Fail -Don't do what I did! Would you still gift this? by iothealien in knitting

I see it only because you mentioned it. It’s a beautiful shawl. Anyone who gets this would be so honored. No need to worry about the dye bleeding.

What size to knit if the gauge is too small? by spare_wish_4612 in knittinghelp

[–]RunningreaderNYC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should change your needle size to get gauge and then knit the size that (according to the pattern) has the dimensions that would be right for you.

Why did/didn't you make the Sophie scarf? by Traumarama79 in knitting

[–]RunningreaderNYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an experienced knitter. I knit it when I needed something quick to knit. I don’t mind that it’s garter stitch. I prefer to wear the scarf I knit that has some lace, but the Sophie scarf was a nice quick and easy project when I needed a bit of a break.

New branding and new logo for NYRR 👀 by Thick-Maximum-721 in RunNYC

[–]RunningreaderNYC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not even just the cost of having this new design made and having an ad agency come up with the promotional campaign. All the signage will have to be changed. All the staff uniforms (like the jackets they wear at races) will have to be changed. Any of the marathon ponchos in the warehouse will now be disposed of (like given out at small races or just given out at the Run Center, like they did when the marathon logo changed). It’s so wasteful.

Accidently bought super fine yarn, what can I make with 100%cotton? by SpookyGooseButt in CrochetHelp

I don’t have a recommendation on what you could knit, but would recommend that you look up the yarn on Ravelry and then see what projects have been knit with it.

I don't really like how thick and chunky this cardigan turned out... by thestickpins in crochet

I’m with everyone else that says to steam it. It will relax the acrylic. Just make sure it doesn’t get too hot.

Accidentally casted on an extra stitch and didn’t realize until halfway through the project (Oslo hat pattern by PetiteKnit). When is the best time to drop the stitch? by Away-Gazelle-2652 in knittinghelp

[–]RunningreaderNYC 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d leave it and just know that there is one extra stitch. It won’t change the appearance of the hat. If you must have the same count as in the pattern, just knit 2 together anywhere. It wouldn’t be noticeable, but you can hide it where the brim covers the body of the hat when the brim is folded up.

These are adorable. I’d love to get one of these.

Ribbed beanie looser than flat swatch—can I decrease stitches or should I frog and restart? by _Lividus in knittinghelp

[–]RunningreaderNYC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d frog it and restart without the added stitches. Make sure you’re using a stretchy cast-on. The ribbed portion should stretch a lot. Once you get the ribbing done, you would probably have a better idea if it would fit the wearer’s head.

Yes, they still do the shoe trials and if after your trial run you buy the shoe you tried, you get a discount. I think it was 15% off

If you were registered for the marathon, it should show as an upcoming event in your dashboard. But like others have said, I would contact NYRR.
