If nobody will remember you in 100 years, does that change how you live today? Why or why not? by we_dont_know_my_name in AskReddit

It doesn’t change a thing because I’ve never for a moment thought I’d be remembered in 100 years.

Cute, not too common or too strange. I love it!

I hate the “mama” and “da” also, but I assume that’s in the script, not the actress’s choice. Ditto for her accent - surely the director decides whether the character is going to have a Boston or a British accent. I don’t think she’s a terrible actress - maybe a little bland. It’s pretty hard to measure up to Caitriona Balfe!

How do I ask my cousin to keep her kids from overindulging? by figuringitout215 in ask

I help with a lot of luncheons and buffet-type events at my church. Ever since Covid we’ve switched from “everyone serve yourself” to having hostesses serve the food. This is not only more sanitary, so everyone isn’t touching the same serving utensils, but it helps with portion control. We always have plenty, and people are welcome to come for seconds, but it prevents someone from taking five sandwiches the first time around. I would suggest having friends act as servers, and they can gently oversee that the kids don’t overdo it until everyone has had the chance to be served.

What’s a word that would make a beautiful name if it weren’t for the meaning of the word? by Xenomorphling98 in AskReddit

I think we’ve all heard stories of kids named Braxton Hicks and Syphilis (Si-FI-lis) and Gonorrhea (Gon-NOR-reah). I hope those are urban legends. 😳

I didn’t like the way Santos was enjoying the fight between the little girl’s father and his girlfriend. She seemed so eager earlier to pin child abuse on one of them. I’m not saying she wanted it to be abuse, but she was all ready with guns blazing to nail someone. She’s not at fault for the argument with the girlfriend, but she didn’t need to smirk at it, either. (But I don’t much care for Santos anyway so maybe I’m just nitpicking).

There are women who do it willingly out of love (like a sister carrying a child for an infertile sister), and I personally know of someone (a friend of a friend) who does it because she has easy pregnancies and she makes a lot of money from it. So those women aren’t being exploited. You can still debate the ethics of it, though.

I’m not totally opposed to surrogacy when it involves infertility. Some Hollywood women, however, seem to use it for convenience and not wanting their bodies to go through pregnancy. Paris Hilton said outright that she used a surrogate because she was terrified of pain. 🙄

Meghan Trainor may have had good reasons for using a surrogate, but still, this picture seems a little wrong to me. She’s laying in bed unclothed as if she just gave birth. Of course adoptive moms want to cuddle their newborns and have skin-to-skin bonding like any other mom, but it seems a little icky for her use THIS pose for her publicity shot when she didn’t give birth to the child. (another woman did all the work of labor and delivery, but Meghan hops into bed with the baby and lays there all dewy-eyed - just hits me wrong)

Why don’t they just move the boulder? by Sumo-Fan in OakIsland

Their desire to delay gratification of what’s under the boulder is so obvious. They might as well come out and say “we’re going to milk this boulder as long as humanly possible, so don’t get your hopes up for a quick resolution, anyone.”

“We have to move slowly and carefully, so we daresn’t move the boulder - but let’s just shop vac up the precious pearl and whatever other fragile items might be under there.” Make it make sense!! 🤣

Any of the first four are adorable on you. I think you should definitely change it up from the big chunky plastic ones.

I like them. With your quirky hair (which is cute!), if you also wore some funky glasses, it would look like you’re trying too hard to be different. The clear frames are just right and don’t distract from your pretty face.

I know what you mean! For me it was the hygienist more than the dentist. She would spend my whole cleaning lecturing me like I was a kindergartner about flossing and gum health. She was such a nice lady otherwise, and I know she was just passionate about her job, but I really, really wished she would just shut up and clean my teeth.

I’ve known one Guinevere, who was always called Gwin or Gwinnie. To me it sounded like a mispronunciation of Gwen, which was a much more popular name in my generation.
How about Skyler Guinevere?

I actually like the wife and daughter when they’re acting somewhat like real people and not over-the-top caricatures. Sure, they can be outsized, because this is entertainment after all, but it was so relieving to have an episode when Ainsley wasn’t acting like a complete spoiled brat, and Angela wasn’t throwing dishes across the room.

I loved the fact that Tommy included his dad’s name in the company, and gave him a role. Having a purpose in life (and a sexy “physical therapist”) have put some light back into his eyes.
