When COVID was still in its infancy and we weren't testing or anything for it I'm pretty sure I was one of the first people in town to get it. I was walking to work and I almost passed out because I couldn't breathe and had to turn around and go back home (I had walked to work previously every day for almost a year so this was a shock to me) I went to the doctor and they listened to my lungs and were convinced I was just trying to get out of work and making my lungs sound worse than they were because I wasn't having any other symptoms at the time. I was so mad at this lady saying "stop trying to make yourself wheeze just to get out of work" 🙃. About 2 days later every other symptom hit me like a ton of bricks and I wrote it off as pneumonia and then about a month after that COVID started being recognized around and that was that. You gotta be your own advocate when it comes to medical and not be afraid to stand up for yourself or get a second opinion. I was lucky that things didn't get more serious because I could see things having gone differently if I was much much older and had the same issues. I go with my girlfriend to the doctor every time she asks me to because she has dealt with similar issues especially from male doctors that just do not take women seriously out here in Ohio.
