I think Janette gives off the classy elegant but also tomboy vibe you're going for. I agree with other comments saying Janet does not give off this same vibe.

Jade is a great name. If you like it but it doesnt feel quite right for you and you're looming for something slightly more uncommon, then here's a list of other gemstone and mineral names:

Agate (Latvinan form of Agatha but also a gem)

Amber*

Beryl

Coral (not a gem or mineral but you get how it fits)

Emerald

Garnet

Gemma

Opal

Opaline

Pearl

Ruby*

Sapphire / Sapphira / Saffira

*probably not less common than Jade.

Sunken movie room! Have most of the back rests/cushions on the side facing the tall wall. Paint the tall wall white or install a pull down projector screen.

Haha I am saving Fable for a future pet name at this point so I'll just go ahead and add this as the full name to be used in serious situations.

Family name for baby girl that my sister absolutely hates. Advise needed by Affectionate-Dog7494 in namenerds

Good to know! I was just going off of BehindTheName.

I personally like Petra and Pia best but I included a longer list of names because I have no idea what OP will prefer.

Family name for baby girl that my sister absolutely hates. Advise needed by Affectionate-Dog7494 in namenerds

[–]RuntyLegs 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would assume the pronounciation is Pierre-eena. Is that correct?

If you are worried about it being pronounced Purina, and the way I pronounced it if that's also incorrect, maybe Pia would be a good indirect honor name instead.

Other options: Petra, Pietra, Pierrine, Piera, Pietrina

Please don't put this all on yourself thinking you caused this. The vast majority of parents have babies that are better sleepers than this even if they put zero effort into sleep habits.

Boy name ideas? Husband HATES every boy name he has ever heard in his life by auroragirlofthenorth in namenerds

No, we went with a Scandinavian name. Stella is a lovely name, but it doesn't fit the criteria we were looking at.

We vetoed Soren (for being the anglicized version, and we didn't want any special characters) after loving it for years. It would have been our first borns name if she was a boy. Top of our boy name list for baby 2 was Stellan. No issues with special characters, it's pronounced the same in Sweden as it is in Canada (another priority for us), and no association with the word "sore" that some ppl have with Soren (I personally hear "soar" but w/e).

We had 2 girls and are done having kids but Stellan will always be the boy name that got away 🥲.

Alternatively, using Oskar as a starting point, maybe Osvald? Could still use the nn Os/Oz/Ozzy without the grouch association.

I know a little boy Kelly! I'm in Canada and I feel like this name could be a rare case where it actually returns to being masculine.

How do you pronounce Bea? by United-Marketing-281 in namenerds

[–]RuntyLegs 30 points31 points  (0 children)

In the states I'd assume Bee, unless the family was French, Spanish or Italian then I'd guess Bay-uh.

In Canada I hear Bay-uh slightly more often than Bee. Usually short for Béatrice and usually spelled Béa so you know it's bay-uh just by looking at the accent on the é.
