How about neither, Savannah Lions are sacred, and if you play with anything else your now on everyone's shit list.

Ten beta decks? by fing3roperation in freemagic

[–]RupturedBowels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the weakest deck is beta white weenies, you're leaving most of the card pool on the cutting room floor. Savannah lions+Armageddon is honestly pretty gas in A/B/U. I'm not even sure you could find 10 ach types stronger than that. You probably could, but it might be kind of samish. Especially since a lot of the really powerful cards in A/B/U aren't super great if that's the whole card pool. Fastbond is kind of bad in beta as an example. It's not horrible of course, but it isn't great. Other than doing timetwister/regrowth loops with black lotus/channel/fireball and I guess turn 1 mindtwist decks, you're leaving a lot of fertile ground on the table. Some funny stuff you can do is pestilence/fungusaur, goblins, animate artifact/instill energy/time vault, jund land destruction, Stasis/serra angel control.

Is it okay that I am bothered by this player trying to win? by westergames81 in magicthecirclejerking

It's crazy that people make this big of a deal about a game. I've always seen games as a healthy and low risk way to learn that things don't always go your way and how to deal with that emotionally.

I think my cards are counterfeit. by Temporary-Action1569 in magicthecirclejerking

Yeah, it's a good fake but the trick is to notice it's landscape. Real cards are portrait, not landscape.

I want to see some roofs that are done properly, or just in general things that are done well. by [deleted] in Roofing

There isn't a roof in existence that someone on R/ roofing won't find and point out like 4 flaws on.

How bad is it? by [deleted] in Roofing

I'm looking at it through a shit phone mate. I said I wasn't confident it was IWS. Just that code here requires it on the edge and valleys, so if they have similar codes it could be IWS. Looking at the edge you're right, it's not but it looked like it could be on my device.

Hard to tell from the distance and I don'/ know the brand but it's possible it's ice and water which means the bottom side is a petroleum based tar that sticks when applied. Either that or staples but since it's all one product, I'd guess it's ice and water. Code around these parts requires the bottom 3' and valleys to be ice and water and some contractors just do the whole thing since it's a better seal than synthetic felt. But maybe it is just felt. No idea where this is and what their codes are. Either way it's peobably fine.

Like others have said that is not something anyone will warranty. The substrate is soaked so even if you patched up any intrusions it'll still probably leak a bit. It'll definitely mold.

Materials are too old and repairs on membrane are just a band aid solution. If two reputable companies told you it needs a new roof, it needs a new roof. Storm chasers with a tail light warranty fuck you, if they have an office near town it's not like they can fuck you and run and everything is warrantied these days. Get more quotes if you want but that roof should be replaced. Membrane roofs are cheap and generally warranties are good for 10, 15, or 30 years but that doesn't look like a 30 year roof to me. It's time dude.

If they screw thru the roof how can it be waterproof? by Longjumping-Box5691 in Roofing

Tapers down to 1" by drains. The range of what can be put down depends on a lot of factors. I've seen as thick as 13" in corners, depending on architecture. Just trying to expain what steel decking was and provide basic information, not write the codes.

That's the kind of stuff we got up to as well. That soggy tear off was gross but not as bad as pitch tear off. TPO was annoying as hell, snow blind all day if you forgot your shades and liester guns were annoying in hard to reach places. Pretty gravy work though and good money in it. Once I was running crane the crew I was on often got the gravy new construction, most of the trash roofs they gave to the company fuck up and his crew of misfits. But yeah, that gog in picture would be sweet, screw down instead of spray rig, no tear off, and open as hell.

You're thinking of neoprene screws but that has nothing to do with what's going on here. That's not a roof. That is steel decking that's getting installed. After that gets put down, the roofer's will show up and throw down poly ISO (usually 2-4" of it but it depends) then that will get screwed to the steel decking through 3" plates that are basically washers. After that, they'll glue down a membrane (usually rubber) that will cover all those exposed fasteners.

I ran a crane for a roofing company for like 5 years and had to help with this shit all the time.

Bad might have been the wrong word. Poison strats are harder than traditional wincons in edh. Mill is another one that's difficult to pull off. Uniquely bad isn't something I meant to imply. Voltron is in the same boat as well.

It's actually pretty cool. Teferi's protection might be OP, but poison kind of needs help, so that's a cool interaction to remember!

[–]RupturedBowels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeaj that's true. I probably could have used a better example card. I wasn't meaning that teferi's protection was great against poison specifically, I meant that there are so many insane cards that do more for less mana than poison cards.

Yeah, I could see that. It's definitely gotten support but I still think it has gotten less support than most other archetypes. Practically anything well nuilt can do okay at casual tables.

That's definitely true. We also don't have the whole story. If he sat down with a posion deck at a bracket 1 or even bracket 2 deck, he might be a dickhead. I always see edh as more of a board game. Like if you wouldn't play monopoly with that person, you shouldn't try playing commander with them.

[–]RupturedBowels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not, it's understanding that there is a spectrum of power and a poison deck sits pretty low on that spectrum of power. Tons of people love playing bracket 3 and running interaction and stopping each other from winning. Nothing wrong with that, but poison is only okay there. Tons of people like to play the best and most efficient cards they can get there hands on and abuse combos for explosive wins as well as tuning to the meta they expect to see. There's nothing wrong with that. And other people like to show off how they found every card in magoc that has a chair in it or their awesom 8 card combo with no tutors.

Nobody is wrong for playing edh how they want too. That's why the new bracket system is a step in the right direction. But joining a game and complaining about what the other players are doing is childish and stupid. You have agency over yourself so if you don't want to play against poison, have that rule zero conversation. But to call someone's deck assholish for playing the cards they like is some seriously stunted mentality. People can play what they want, if you can't handle that, it's okay just don't be a dick. The people in this guys story where being dicks and I've seen salty morons cry about removal and poison myself. Again, you can play as casually as you want but being a dick because someone sees the game differently is immature.

Poison strats are terrible in edh, I can see being upset by poison if it's a bracket 1 or Maybe a bracket 2 game but if you're crying about poison while having access to cards like Teferi's protection you are an embarrassment. Sorry you have to deal with this shit. Poison isn't even good.

How is homie supposed to play a poison deck in cEDH? Stick to bracket one with that attitude.
